Erios909

thanks

If they're launched at speed they'll drift past it within a short while and drift further into the void of space.

Diego Rossi

Not exactly a standard military consideration, but mining you jump point mean that you have mines there after the battle. Electronics degrade with time and solar radiation. I wouldn't like to have thousand of "inactive" missiles near the jump point that could "decide" that a random signal is the activation signal and they should start to attack the nearest target.

Possible edits: to at as a reserve. -> to ACT as a reserve.

I was talking about creating a temporary minfield using missiles. Moving jump points explains why there are no permanent ones. Thank.

There aren't any minefields at the jump points, and things in orbit have to stay in orbit. Jump points don't move in an orbit so any minefield left at a jump point will move out of place in a short period of time. The fleets are already in the system and entered through the jump points. Maintaining a customs station like Thea's in 83 Hydrae is very expensive and requires that it reverse its orbit constantly to fly between the points in a oval shape that never quite reaches either one.

Horrible plan. Guy is fucking insane. I don't know the exact physics of this universe, but anything else occupying the jump point would stop this, right? Create a minefield using 'dead' missiles, it'll mean that they'll have to wait for their PD to clear it. Mines are hilariously under-valued for some reason. 'Dead' missiles can't be detected easily as seen previously. Time their burn to take them into the jump point during predicted final contact. If they start the burn early enough, they can likely mask their signature using the engines of their ships. If not. Have them dump missiles, wait, make them burn behind their ship, then move out of the path, using an 'Optimized' fleet formation. 'Dead' in this case meaning temporarily inactive. Reactivating on a timer, not due to proximity (which would likely be detectable).
