“How very English of you…” he teased as she sat down beside him.
“Yes, but considering you are English, it seemed appropriate.” Vivienne smiled, “And I thought it might help calm your nerves.”
“Even if you spiked it with Calming Draught, I doubt it would do much good.” He chuckled at himself. He’d faced down a Dark Lord, more than once, and despite his admittedly heroic actions in the face of Tom, he was terrified through a good deal of it. Though I rarely had much time to think about that until after the fact.
The prospect of standing before a council of veela, facing their judgement, and potentially getting Apolline, and her mother, ostracized from the enclave was nearly as terrifying as standing face to face with a monster.
Shaking off the rather harrowing thought, he returned to the issue at hand, “But still, I’m not one to refuse a spot of tea when offered.”
The brunette leaned over and poured the tea into each cup, “Milk or sugar?”

Curling her legs underneath her, Vivienne leaned into the side of the couch, “Apolline told me you were stressed about this. He offered her a grateful smile. While the prospect of what she was implying was always appealing, the timing felt less than appropriate. And as though she were reading his mind, she gave him a sultry smile, “Besides, even with her permission, I still prefer it when she’s here.”
Taking a sip of his tea, he replied, “You won’t hear any argument from me.”
“From any other man, talking about any other woman, I’d most certainly be offended. But as seems rather common where you’re concerned, I’ll make an exception.” Setting her own teacup down, she changed the subject, “So… how is Lily doing?”
“Trying to distract me now?” His eyes darted over to the clock on the wall.
“A little, but I’m also genuinely curious.” Vivienne rested her elbow on the side of the couch, leaning against it as she looked at him expectantly, “I’m so looking forward to meeting her.”

His oldest friends were a literal world away, and apart from some of his instructors, he shared his few friends with his bride to be.
“And?”
“And… her apprenticeship is going brilliantly so far. Her talent in charms has never been anything short of exemplary and she couldn’t ask for a better instructor than Professor Flitwick. And that’s to say nothing of what she’s learned working with Tilly…” Which brought to mind one more important point, “With how busy she’s been though, I doubt she’ll have time to visit here until the holidays at the earliest. He chuckled, “No, you won’t have to wait that long. Though I’m sure you’re right and she’ll be happy to make an exception, Lily invited Apolline and I to visit her in England… she was rather insistent about it, actually.” She’d given them a specific weekend she was hoping they would visit, and they were happy to oblige her, “She wanted us to extend an invitation to you as well.”
She waved her hand dismissively and turned her nose up, “Oh, I’ll have to check my schedule obviously, darling. You know how difficult it can be to make room for such things…” Vivenne darted away as he poked at her side, and the façade quickly fell away to a beaming smile, “Of course, that’s lovely of her. I’ll do my utmost to make it. Do you know why she invited us?”
“To show us around Hogwarts, I presume, and share a bit of her home.” It would be nice to see the castle again after so many years. Despite his love of France and the home he’d made for himself there, Hogwarts was still the first place that he ever called home. Even if it had its fair share of highs and lows. Though he couldn’t help but think that there was something more to her invitation as well.
Before they had the chance to continue their conversation, the alarm he set beeped once before he turned it off. Looking at the clock, he realized that those last few minutes flew by. Taking hold of the portkey on the table, he offered his thanks, “You did a brilliant job of distracting me, Vivienne.”
The lovely woman stood and placed a kiss on his cheek, “I’m happy to hear it, handsome. I’m sure I can think of some way you can show your appreciation once you’ve gotten back.” Steeping away, she offered him a final smile, “Now, good luck.”
He made to reply but was stopped by the tugging behind his navel. All at once, he felt himself pulled from the room and hurtled across a great distance. When he finally settled, and the whirling of the world stopped, the portkey in his hand eroded to nothing in his grasp.
He could faintly hear rushing water as he stood in an open grotto. Beneath his feet was smooth stone, a mosaic of bright colors depicting a beautiful, feathered woman. There was one path that led further on. Next to him was a plinth. A melodious voice echoed through the chamber from nowhere, nearly making him jump, “Disrobe, wizard, and proceed to the next room for judgment.”
He started by pulling his shirt over his head and left himself bare as the day he was born in just a few short seconds. Placing them on the plinth, he walked to the opening only to look back and find that his clothing had disappeared.
Ducking his head, he entered the small tunnel. As he pushed forward, the sound of water grew louder. At the end of the tunnel water touched his feet as it fell at the exit. On the other side was nothing but darkness. No other way but through. Cold water washed over him, sending a shiver down his spine.
As he wiped the water from his eyes, white light filled the narrow room. Roman style pillars ran up the length of the room on either side. The same smooth stone covered the ground with another mosaic. His gaze wasn’t drawn to what lay at his feet though, instead he looked to the end of the room.

The Matriarch hummed to herself before acknowledging, “We’ll take that into consideration.”
From there it seemed that they’d gotten past the oddest part of his history and returned to the more conventional questions as the other Matriarchs began speaking again. I'm somewhat disappointed that we didn't get to see Harry enter the Enclave yet - it would have felt like a nice continuation of being freshly accepted - but I can see how it's also worthy of its own chapter, and besides, there was of course Vivienne waiting back at her apartment :) I'm rather curious as to where this story is going. It sounds like Harry's scar was purged during the indeterminable time during his "vetting" (how? what are the implications?), the question from the matriarchs of whether Ol' Voldieshorts can affect him seems rather hinting (what *does* even remain of his old timeline? Will he ever see his friends again?), and then of course there's the matter of none other than Grindelwald apparently lurking somewhere out there - I'm *sure* Harry's luck won't make their paths cross one way or another, lol.
