🕑 Added 2025-06-23 02:45:08 +0000 UTCHello everyone! So, I've been getting inundated with private messages, particularly on fanfic .net, offering to do digital art for my stories. I'm by no means an artist, and I have a great deal of respect for anybody with that talent. I'm well aware that in these situations, the people soliciting me are, almost certainly, making use of an AI, if somebody actually answers their solicitation.
Out of curiosity, I decided to prompt one of the AI models, and these were the two best results when describing Rhaenyra. No matter how explicitly I stated it, I couldn't get it to give her amethyst eyes, or any other shade of purple. And neither look particularly like the woman I provide as the casting, Marie Wildes. But since you can't prompt the one I used with real people, that's understandable.
I'm sharing these as a talking point more than anything. I have no intention of creating AI generated images to go along with my stories, but I can't deny that there is genuine appeal to having artwork of some kind.
So, my wonderful patrons, this rather odd post is to say... If any of you are artists and would like to discuss it with me, please send me a message. If you're not, but you're particularly fond of an artist and would like to give me a recommendation either in the comments or in the messages, please do.

EDIT: I've been playing around with AI a little more and was finally able to get a render of her with purple eyes that I like

I'll be the first to admit that it does take a level of skill to write good AI prompts; same with successfully making the images have clear continuity. And that has some value as a skill, I suppose; indeed it's possible that someone who's good with AI could make some good and meaningful images. But that being said, those who are writing you (being "inundated" isn't a good sign, for starters) are almost certainly looking to basically scam you. They will put in zero effort to understand your stories (maybe even try and make AI do that), and probably just produce the most useless of inane slop. Stay *far* away from them, I reckon. (As to human artists, I'm not really that into the space and can only come up with one OTOH, and I don't believe he takes commissions.)
