Chapter 206: Returning Home
🕑 Added 2025-01-31 17:54:53 +0000 UTCYang Podi and the others left the Sea God Temple and went directly to the place where Yang Pingan had absorbed his soul ring. Now it was Ye Lingling's turn to absorb her final God-given soul ring.
Two months later, both Ye Lingling and Yang Pingan finished absorbing their God-given soul rings, and only then did they reveal their true soul power levels.
After absorbing their soul rings, Yang Pingan and Ye Lingling stunned everyone because both of them had reached a 100,000-year soul ring for their eighth ring, and their soul power was even more astonishing.
At this point, Yang Pingan had reached level 88, while Ye Lingling had reached level 89. This included the soul power gained from each assessment, which had been gradually increasing.
Yang Pingan and Ye Lingling were already at level 80 when they passed the third test of the Sea God, and the subsequent increases were just not shown before.
Especially Ye Lingling, with the stacking of soul rings, her current soul ring configuration was: Purple, Purple, Black, Black, Black, Black, Red.
Yang Pingan's soul ring configuration was: Purple, Purple, Purple, Purple, Black, Black, Black, Red.
Niu Meng was at level 83, with the soul ring configuration: Purple, Purple, Purple, Purple, Black, Black, Black, Red.
Dugu Yan was at level 82, with the soul ring configuration: Yellow, Yellow, Purple, Purple, Black, Black, Black, Black.
Yang Podi was at level 93, with the soul ring configuration: Black, Black, Black, Black, Black, Red, Red, Red, Red.
At the same time, the four also gained privileges on Sea God Island. Ye Lingling obtained the highest level of "Red Extreme" privilege, while Yang Pingan, Dugu Yan, and Niu Meng received "Black-level" privileges, making them high-ranking members of Sea God Island.
After some discussion, they decided to return to the mainland to check on the current situation, especially to confirm the safety of Heavenly Academy.
They used the Red Extreme privilege of Sea God Island to board a supply ship and left Sea God Island directly.
The transport ship to Sea God Island was mostly made up of Sea Soul Masters who deeply believed in the Sea God. After learning of Ye Lingling's Red-level privilege, they all showed great respect, afraid of offending her.
As the transport ship left Sea God Island, everyone relaxed greatly. The three and a half years spent on Sea God Island were filled with dangers, and they had all given their best efforts in training and assessment, finally passing their respective tests.
Of course, each person had made tremendous progress, with their soul power on average increasing by over twenty levels. Especially their battle power, which had greatly improved, now making everyone at least a Soul Douluo—such an improvement was unimaginable before.
The transport ship sailed for twenty days and finally arrived in Vast Sea City.
As they entered Vast SeaCity, everyone felt unprecedentedly relaxed. After all, they were all land-based Soul Masters, and returning to land felt like returning home.
Once in Vast Sea City, the six of them had a hearty meal, enjoying the mainland's food to the fullest, as they hadn't had a mainland hotel meal for years and missed it greatly.
Yang Podi also carefully inquired about the situation on the mainland in recent years. It seemed that no major events had occurred, indicating that the so-called Soul Hunting operation hadn't started yet.
After returning to the mainland, everyone was homesick, deeply missing their families. Without even resting, they immediately used their soul power to set off, planning a long journey to return home quickly.
Now that everyone was a Soul Douluo, they could travel over 200 kilometers per hour. In just two to three days, they had already returned to Heavenly Academy.
When they saw Heavenly Academy intact, Yang Podi finally breathed a sigh of relief. After being away for so long, Yang Podi was most afraid that their home might be attacked while they were gone, especially by the Spirit Hall's Soul Hunting operation. They still had no idea of the Spirit Hall's plans, and no one knew whether they would try to destroy Heavenly Academy.
After returning to Heavenly Academy, everyone was extremely excited. Yang Tianyue even jumped into Niu Jinfeng's arms, acting coquettishly, completely not resembling a high-level Soul Master or a Sea God descendant.
Heavenly Academy immediately held a small meeting, mainly to welcome the six of them back, but also to discuss some family matters.
When Yang Podi and the others revealed their current soul power levels, everyone in the room was stunned. A few elderly men nearly cried tears of joy.
Especially Yang Tianyue, holding the Sea God Trident, waving it like a hero, which drew even more attention.
Yang Wudi and Niu Gao tried to move the Sea God Trident but found they couldn't even budge it, despite using all their strength.
After some conversation, everyone showed a proud look and returned to their homes.
Yang Podi, Yang Wudi, Yang Zhentian, Niu Gao, and Dugu Bo gathered to discuss family matters.
Yang Podi seriously asked: "Grandpa, how has the Continent been these past few years? Has anything major happened?"
Yang Wudi shook his head: "The continent has been unusually peaceful these years, and there haven't been any major conflicts. Neither the Spirit Hall nor the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, nor the two great empires, seem to be in any turmoil. It really doesn't look like there's anything going on."
"The only major event might be the death of the Fourth Prince of the Heaven Dou Empire, Xuebing."
Yang Podi was puzzled: "Xuebing was a prince. How could he have died? Is there something hidden behind this?"
Yang Wudi shook his head again: "Xuebing's death was very strange. Many people say it was done by Prince Xue Qinghe, while others say it was the Star Luo Empire's doing. Our information is quite mixed. After all, we left Heaven Dou City and haven't seriously inquired about it."
Yang Podi nodded: "Xuebing was just an insignificant character. His death doesn't matter to us. What about Prince Xue Qinghe? Has he contacted us?"
Yang Wudi sighed: "No, ever since we came to Almo Mountain, aside from some business dealings regarding medicinal materials, we haven't really had much contact with these major powers. Heavenly Academy's presence on the mainland is quite low, and we haven't been involved in any sect conflicts."
"But there are still a few pieces of news."
"The first piece is the rumors that the Clear Sky Sect might re-emerge, but there's still no concrete news, and no one knows whether it's true. However, the people from the Clear Sky Sect seem to be stirring, and from my observation, they'll likely come out of hiding in about three to five years."
Yang Podi shook his head: "Without Tang Chen, the Clear Sky Sect has no qualification or courage to break the agreement with the Spirit Hall. If they dare come out, they'll likely face the Spirit Hall's purge."
Yang Podi silently thought: Based on the current timeline, it seems that the Soul Hunting operation from Spirit Hall won't be far away. The only question is when exactly. I need to find out the specific time; otherwise, it'll be impossible to take advantage of the situation.
Yang Wudi continued: "The Soul Master Contest, which is held every five years, hasn't taken place this time. The Heaven Dou Empire was quite enthusiastic, but neither the Star Luo Empire nor the Spirit Hall showed any interest. Their excuse is that the Star Luo Empire faced a pandemic disaster and had to allocate all their resources to disaster relief. The next Soul Master Contest will be held normally."
Yang Podi thought for a moment before speaking, "The Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's first team's strength is likely to be exceptional this time, possibly featuring several Spirit Kings. It's understandable that the other two major factions might not want to host the tournament."
"Moreover, the Spirit Master world has been eerily calm recently. I fear this is merely the calm before the storm. Something significant might happen soon. We should remain vigilant."
After some further discussion, the group chose not to dwell on it further. Yang Podi began planning his next steps.
It seemed that certain deviations had arisen in the current trajectory, possibly due to the dissemination of secret manuals and blueprints for hidden weapons. To evaluate the situation, Yang Podi decided to venture out to observe the state of the world, focusing especially on whether Spirit Hall had any concrete plans for the Spirit Hunting Operation.
Of course, Yang Podi also communicated with the others, urging them to keep the matter of Yang Tianyue inheriting the Sea God's legacy a closely guarded secret. Otherwise, it might bring unnecessary trouble. After all, the emergence of a new deity could dominate the current era, and news of such a phenomenon would likely make the Breaking Clan a target for all.
After resting at home for a short time, Yang Podi resolved to set out alone to gather intelligence on the situation outside, especially any indications of Spirit Hall's plans regarding the Spirit Hunting Operation.
Simultaneously, developments at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy took an intriguing turn.
In the Education Committee's building at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe was meeting with the three Deans and Yu Xiaogang to discuss the cancellation of the Spirit Master Tournament.
Upon hearing this news, Yu Xiaogang's expression turned dark. Over the past five years, he had devoted his entire body of knowledge to training these students, leading to significant improvements in the strength of Heaven Dou's first team.
Within this period, Heaven Dou's first team had evolved into a lineup of all Spirit Kings. Thanks to rigorous training and considerable investments of resources, the team's strength had improved drastically.
Dai Mubai, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing had all reached the Spirit King realm after years of arduous effort. Even the initially weakest in terms of spirit power, Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, had just entered the Spirit King stage. Adding Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei, the team had become a seven-person group composed entirely of Spirit Kings.
Initially, Yu Xiaogang hoped to push for the tournament to proceed. However, the information they received indicated that neither the Star Luo Empire nor Spirit Hall showed any willingness to organize the event. After all, each tournament required tremendous manpower and resources. With only the weakest of the three factions, Heaven Dou Empire, expressing interest, it was impossible to proceed as planned.
Unexpectedly, only a few days after Yang Podi's return home, Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo both paid a visit. Their intended hosts were none other than his grandfather, Yang Wudi, and Dugu Bo. Judging by appearances, the two sides seemed to share a rather amicable relationship.
Yang Podi found it peculiar. Spirit Hall was located four to five thousand kilometers away from Armo Mountain, so why would these two suddenly visit?
However, according to his father Yang Zhentian, Chrysanthemum Douluo had made multiple visits over the past few years, primarily to discuss plants and herbs with Yang Wudi and Dugu Bo. It seemed that the two sides had forged a bond through these discussions, reminiscent of "no discord, no concord." Ghost Douluo, on the other hand, was making his first visit.
