Chapter 169: Cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Technique
🕑 Added 2025-01-14 17:25:52 +0000 UTCSince arriving at Almo Mountain, Yang Podi had already switched his meditation technique to cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Technique. Although he had to start learning from scratch, the results after practicing this technique were indeed remarkable.
The Mysterious Heaven Technique, worthy of being a top-tier Daoist method, truly allowed soul power to flow endlessly and boundlessly after cultivation. Among soul masters of the same level, cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Technique noticeably increased soul power.
The greatest characteristic of the Mysterious Heaven Technique lay in its understanding of meridians, which was also the most significant difference between the martial arts world and the Douluo world.
In the martial arts world, internal power circulates throughout the body, and there is extensive research on meridians. In a certain sense, this makes the study of the human body more detailed.
In the Douluo world, however, there is no concept of meridians. Instead, soul power is circulated through the entire body, which might be of a higher level, but not as detailed as the martial arts world.
Particularly notable is the meridian map of the human body. Currently, only Yang Podi and a few others possess the complete version. The publicly circulated versions of the Mysterious Heaven Technique have had parts of the meridian map removed, which marks the most significant difference.
The removed sections of the meridian map only provide a general outline of the meridians but lack the detailed paths of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians.
The human body's meridians can generally be divided into twelve primary meridians and the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. The twelve primary meridians refer to the Gallbladder Meridian, Liver Meridian, Lung Meridian, Large Intestine Meridian, Stomach Meridian, Spleen Meridian, Heart Meridian, Small Intestine Meridian, Bladder Meridian, Kidney Meridian, Pericardium Meridian, and Triple Burner Meridian. These twelve meridians connect the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, kidneys, large intestine, small intestine, stomach, gallbladder, bladder, and Triple Burner, ensuring the proper circulation of energy through the five viscera and six bowels. If all the body's meridians can be opened, natural circulation will occur, allowing energy to flow endlessly and ceaselessly.
If the study of meridians can be considered foundational knowledge, then the study of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians represents a higher level of research in the field of meridians.
The Eight Extraordinary Meridians differ from the twelve primary meridians in that they are not directly connected to the viscera and have no paired relationships. Known as "extraordinary pathways," they are termed "extraordinary" because of this distinction.
The Eight Extraordinary Meridians interlace and distribute themselves among the twelve meridians. Their role is mainly reflected in two aspects:
First, they link the twelve primary meridians, connecting nearby and functionally similar meridians to manage their energy, regulate yin and yang, and coordinate their actions.
Second, the Eight Extraordinary Meridians regulate the accumulation and distribution of energy in the twelve meridians. When the energy of the twelve meridians and the viscera is abundant, the Eight Extraordinary Meridians store it. When the body requires functional support, the Eight Extraordinary Meridians release the stored energy to supply it.
Because of these differences, Yang Podi dared to distribute the Mysterious Heaven Technique to others.
Yang Podi was also incredibly fortunate to have consumed the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum back then. One of its greatest benefits was that it could open the Eight Extraordinary Meridians, enabling soul power to circulate autonomously within the meridians without relying on internal power or soul power cultivation. Truly a miraculous item.
After six months of cultivation, Yang Podi had reached the third level of the Mysterious Heaven Technique. The first level was the easiest, taking only one month to complete, while the second level took two months. Based on his estimation, the third level would require around four months to master.
Yang Podi personally believed that he could cultivate the Mysterious Heaven Technique to match his current level of soul power within two years at most.
After passing the technique on to a few others, their cultivation speed was significantly slower than Yang Podi's, nearly doubling his time.
However, this time investment was well worth it for everyone. The strongest among them was only a Soul King, meaning that once they reached the fifth level of the Mysterious Heaven Technique, they could fully adapt to its methods. At that point, they would possess even broader cultivation potential and prospects. Compared to soul masters of the same level, their soul power depth would be far greater, and their recovery speed much faster.
Unexpectedly, the one who advanced the fastest in cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Technique was neither the most talented Yang Tianyue nor the one with the highest soul power, Ye Lingling, but Niu Meng. Perhaps the Diamond Titan Fruit had effects similar to the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, making his meridians more fluid.
After six months of diligent practice, Yang Podi finally reached the peak of level 69 and was about to break through to level 70. By his estimation, it would take only ten days to half a month to step into the realm of Soul Sage.
At this point, the family's base had been completed, and Tianxing Academy was finally about to open.
During these six months, the clan had taken control of the entire Almo Mountain region, organizing the awakening of martial souls for the area's ordinary people.
Publicly, Spirit Hall had withdrawn from the entire Almo Mountain region. Even Heaven Dou Empire officials had retreated.
While Spirit Hall's sub-halls and branches spread across the continent, they were still unable to penetrate the areas surrounding major sects.
The city lord of Monet City was a member of the Defense Clan, a level 73 Soul Saint. A Champion Marquis Manor was built in Monet City, though it was mostly unoccupied, serving only as a symbol of regional sovereignty.
Currently, the Almo Mountain region belonged entirely to Yang Podi, or rather, to Tianxing Academy.
Perhaps due to the remoteness of the area, many children had not awakened their martial souls in time. This round of region-wide martial soul awakenings included six-year-olds and some seven- and eight-year-olds.
Across the entire Almo Mountain region, around 300 children awakened their martial souls. However, their innate soul power levels were generally low, with over 90% below level 5. Only 30 had innate soul power above level 5, and the highest was level 7, with just one individual reaching this level.
According to the Champion Marquis Manor's latest decree, Tianxing Academy would admit all suitable students under 12 years old with innate soul power. Additionally, those aged 12 to 18 who had become soul masters could also enroll. However, the total number of students was only around 100.
These 400 students were enough to get the academy running. However, this created an unusual situation where Tianxing Academy had one of the strongest teaching faculties among all academies on the Douluo Continent, yet its students were among the weakest.
Neither Yang Podi nor his clan members were particularly concerned. The current priority was to accumulate experience in teaching and student management. Over time, as the academy's reputation grew, enrollment would naturally increase, and the quality of students would gradually improve. Every advanced soul master academy was built on years of accumulation.
Tianxing Academy differed significantly from other academies. All students enjoyed free tuition, with the academy covering all costs, including training resources, facilities, and simulated environments.
However, to obtain additional resources, students had to rely on their efforts, such as earning a teacher's favor or showcasing exceptional talent and committing to contributing to the academy in the future.
These measures aimed to strengthen Tianxing Academy.
Several clan members' children also entered Tianxing Academy, though their number was only in the dozens. These formed the backbone of the academy's student body.
At this moment, on a platform atop Almo Mountain, Yang Podi stood opposite seven others: Yang Ping'an, Yang Tianyue, Dugu Yan, Ye Lingling, Niu Meng, Yang Yuxuan, and Niu Kui.
Yang Podi addressed the group: "You seven have always cultivated independently and gained some combat experience in soul beast forests. Compared to your peers, your combat experience is relatively rich."
"But today, I'm going to give you another lesson—the most important one. Do you know what you're lacking?"
The seven shook their heads. Their talent and strength were excellent, and this lineup alone could win the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, making them among the strongest of their generation.
Yang Podi's voice turned cold: "You've spent your time in academies, never engaging in true life-or-death combat, nor have you killed anyone. The difference between academy duels and the real battles of the soul master world is enormous. The greatest difference is that you must kill your opponent by any means necessary."
"Today, I will fight you. I won't use soul skills, and I will suppress my soul power and strength to your level. This is to let you understand what real killing means."
The seven immediately looked solemn. They had fought Yang Podi before and always lost miserably, unable to last even a few rounds despite him not using his full strength.
Acting as the referee, Yang Wudi stood on the platform and spoke: "You kids don't understand yet. Our generation became stronger only through countless life-and-death struggles. No matter the type of soul master, only by confronting life and death can you truly grow stronger."
"Our clans can face death in battle, but we must never show fear or retreat."
"This match today is an unrestricted battle. Use every method at your disposal, all your secret techniques, and fight. The match begins now."
The seven immediately summoned their martial souls, positioning themselves according to the strategy devised for the tournament.
At the same time, Yang Podi summoned his martial soul. The Red light of the Breaking Soul Spear illuminated the world, enveloping everyone in its glow.
All the combatants suddenly felt as if they were in a sea of corpses and blood, trembling from the depths of their souls, as if trapped in endless slaughter. Their soul power circulation slowed significantly, and even their soul skills weakened.
To them, Yang Podi now appeared as a blood-red figure of Shura, a demon of slaughter.
Even Yang Wudi, standing on the platform, felt immense pressure.
This was Yang Podi's Killing God Domain, shown to his relatives for the first time.
Yang Ping'an shouted, "Everyone, steady your minds! This is a battle, and we are warriors, not sheep to be slaughtered!"
With that, he unleashed his fifth soul skill: White Tiger Destruction Kill, his most powerful attack skill.
Yang Podi, gripping the Breaking Soul Spear, thrust forward. Surprisingly, instead of clashing head-on, he slightly tilted his spear upward, using a technique akin to leveraging strength.
When the spears collided, Yang Ping'an's attack was deflected, causing him to lose balance slightly.
Seizing the moment, Yang Podi charged toward the others.
Niu Meng activated his fifth soul skill, Iron Armor Defense, blocking Yang Podi's path.
Unperturbed, Yang Podi sidestepped Niu Meng and targeted Ye Lingling in the distance.
Ye Lingling's body glowed red as a barrier of light appeared before her. Yang Podi relentlessly attacked with countless spear strikes until the barrier began to dissipate.
Meanwhile, Yang Tianyue and the others regrouped and surrounded Yang Podi, unleashing their strongest soul skills to confine him.
Niu Meng and Yang Ping'an quickly joined in, forming a pincer attack. Yang Ping'an even used his soul bone skill, increasing his speed.
Their teamwork, honed through tournament experience, was excellent, with well-coordinated offense, defense, and support.
But such tactics were trivial to Yang Podi.
He swung the Breaking Soul Spear, creating countless spear shadows that enveloped everyone.
Throughout the battle, Yang Podi's sole target remained Ye Lingling.
As the others fended off the spear shadows, Yang Podi appeared before Ye Lingling, thrusting his spear with both hands.
The strike was accompanied by a dragon's roar—the second form of the Breaking Soul Nine Styles,Dragon like Spear.
Caught off guard, Ye Lingling poured all her soul power into defense. A red barrier appeared before her, but it began to falter under Yang Podi's relentless strikes.
Meanwhile, Nui Meng and Yang Ping'an, as if anticipating Yang Podi's move, activated their respective soul bone abilities. Yang Ping'an, gripping his Breaking Soul Spear, dashed in with astonishing speed, while Nui Meng's right arm burned fiercely, radiating an intense heat as if it were about to explode.
