Chapter 168: Tianxing[Heavenly] Academy
🕑 Added 2025-01-14 17:17:46 +0000 UTCAt this moment, the Breaking Clan and the Defense Clan were both excited and nervous.
After more than half a year of construction, Almo Mountain was finally complete. Even Monet City and the academy at the foot of the mountain had been fully built.
Within the area at the foot of Almo Mountain, many medicinal fields had also been established, laying the foundation for the future development and wealth of the Breaking Clan.
Even Dugu Bo brought his son, Dugu Xin, and some of his clan members to join the Breaking Clan, becoming the third family on the mountain.
Meanwhile, due to Ye Lingling's arrival, Ye Renxin, after much deliberation, also sent some of his clan members to Almo Mountain to prepare for the family's future. Among them was a healing-system Spirit Saint, which helped fill a gap among the three families.
As for the smaller sects surrounding Almo Mountain, most of them had been incorporated as the Breaking Clan's outer sects. However, these sects were quite small, with some having only a few dozen members and others just a handful. According to Yang Podi's plan, everyone would either become outer sect disciples or work as teachers at the academy.
At this time, in the Breaking Clan's meeting room, several core members had gathered, and everyone wore a solemn expression.
This was because Yang Podi had just proposed an incredibly rare and shocking plan.
According to Yang Podi, the families could handle their internal matters independently, but externally, all matters should be dealt with under the academy's name.
In other words, the cores of the families would focus primarily on the academy's development in the future.
Based on Yang Podi's suggestion, the newly established academy would be named Tianxing Academy, divided into inner and outer divisions. It would accept all types of students, enrolling anyone within their territory who awakened innate spirit power.
Ordinary students would study in the outer division. Those who demonstrated both loyalty to the families and exceptional talent could be selected for the inner division.
Both the outer and inner divisions would have teachers drawn from the Spirit Masters of the families, who would train the students from a young age.
The downside, however, was that over time, people might only recognize Tianxing Academy and not the individual families.
The meeting room fell into silence as everyone pondered whether this plan was feasible and what it would mean for the future of their families.
Yang Wudi was the first to speak, his expression heavy:
"Podi, have you really thought this through? Do you realize that with this approach, the Breaking Clan may gradually fade away? Especially with the way you're planning this, countless issues could arise."
Yang Podi nodded.
"I've given this a lot of thought. Any single-martial-soul family is bound to struggle to maintain itself for the long term."
"For nearly a thousand years, the most prosperous clans were the Clear Sky Sect, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. These three leveraged their powerful martial souls and unique advantages to reach their peaks."
"Take the Clear Sky Sect, for example. It's universally known that its legacy is the Clear Sky Hammer. Yet, even with their strength and Tang Chen's unrivaled prowess, they still fell into decline. If a large-scale Spirit Master war were to erupt, they might even face destruction."
"The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan has done relatively well, using an auxiliary-type martial soul to develop into what it is today. But who can guarantee its survival a century later, once Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo are gone? Without them, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan would become the most coveted target for others."
"By establishing an academy, we can attract strong students and martial souls from various backgrounds. Even if, millennia from now, the Breaking Clan no longer leads Tianxing Academy, our legacy will persist."
"Moreover, there's another problem. While the older generations of our three families have good relations now, what happens when there are disagreements in decision-making? Or if two families fall into conflict—how would we handle it?"
"Right now, we're at our strongest, with Title Douluos among us. But what happens if our families no longer have Title Douluos one day? Wouldn't we immediately fall into crisis?"
"Having the academy serves as a unifying structure for the families. Any issues can be resolved together, ensuring that as long as one family has a Title Douluo, all three can survive."
"Eventually, we might even bring in other families, strengthening the academy further—especially given the major changes that may lie ahead."
"Lastly, in terms of longevity, existing elemental academies are on par with the upper three sects. Despite not having Title Douluos or even Spirit Douluos, they've lasted for millennia."
Yang Wudi frowned but hesitated.
"Podi, the Breaking Clan has a legacy of hundreds of years. I fear I might become the one responsible for its decline."
Yang Podi shook his head.
"Grandfather, no matter how things develop, the Breaking Clan will thrive in the future, and so will the other families. Don't forget the benefits we've gained from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and Mysterious Heaven Skill."
"As for spreading the Mysterious Heaven Skill, only core family disciples will be allowed to cultivate it. The original will be memorized by those of us present today, and the document will be destroyed. The core technique will be passed down orally to future family leaders, while I'll prepare a simplified version for ordinary disciples. This version will be more effective than external copies, though not as comprehensive or powerful. It'll have five levels, with the remaining four only accessible with the approval of all family leaders."
After hearing this, the room fell silent again as everyone contemplated whether this plan could work and benefit their respective families.
Yang Wudi turned to Niu Gao and Dugu Bo.
"Old Rhino, Old Poison, what are your thoughts?"
Niu Gao sighed after some thought.
"Old Goat, I've always been conflicted. The Breaking Clan has grown so strong—perhaps too strong. Even without Jingfeng, your clan has three Title Douluos. Podi, Ping'an, and Tianyue all show potential to reach that level."
"If not for our close relationship, your immense help, and the fact that Almo Mountain belongs to my grandson, I would've hesitated to come here. Decades from now, I fear the Defense Clan might become subservient to the Breaking Clan."
"Podi's proposal offers hope—a way for the Defense Clan to preserve its legacy. As Podi said, establishing the academy allows the families to develop independently while addressing external matters collectively. Even after we're gone, our families can endure."
"We've fought alongside the Clear Sky Sect for years and witnessed countless clans and martial souls disappear. If the Defense Clan's Armored Giant Rhinoceros martial soul can last for millennia, that would be our greatest achievement."
"Our martial souls—whether the Armored Giant Rhinoceros or the Breaking Soul Spear—don't match the Clear Sky Hammer or Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Without a unified approach, our survival would be uncertain."
"I support Podi's plan: establish the academy, present a united front externally, and manage internal affairs separately."
After Niu Gao finished, all eyes turned to Dugu Bo.
Dugu Bo was speechless.
"Why are you looking at me? The Jade Phosphor Clan has fewer members. I just want to ensure our lineage continues. You two are thinking about millennia—I'm just focused on having more heirs."
Yang Wudi and Niu Gao were dumbfounded by Dugu Bo's sudden change in stance. This man, who moments ago resisted the academy's rules, now prioritized simple survival.
Yang Wudi asked,
"Podi, how do you envision the academy's structure?"
Yang Podi replied,
"The four families will each have a clan leader to manage internal matters. Among them, one will serve as the Tianxing Academy's principal, while the other three act as vice-principals. Major decisions will require a vote, with the principal holding two votes and the vice-principals one each. At least three votes are needed to pass major resolutions. Internal affairs of families are not to be interfered with. Title Douluos from the families can serve as academy elders, ensuring its stability."
"The position of principal will rotate among the families after a set period. The exact duration can be decided collectively."
"I'll draft academy regulations, which everyone must follow. The foundation of these rules will be equality among the four families, low-profile development, and avoidance of unnecessary conflicts."
"The Breaking Clan will focus on managing medicinal fields and producing pills for the academy, contributing a portion of the profits to its upkeep. The Defense Clan will handle patrols and manage Monet City. The Jade Phosphor Clan will enforce academy regulations and punish violators. The Nine Heart Clan will oversee logistics and healing."
After hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
The remaining details didn't require Yang Podi's intervention.
Over the next few days, the news spread like wildfire, leaving the families in shock and making it hard for some to accept in the short term.
However, due to the high prestige of the leaders—each the strongest in their respective families—their explanations eventually persuaded their clans.
The Nine Heart Begonia Clan faced the most challenges. Their members were few, with their strongest being a 72nd-level healing Spirit Saint. But these decisions were ultimately made by Ye Lingling, the heir of the Nine Heart Begonia martial soul and the next clan leader.
During this time, Yang Podi shared the original Mysterious Heaven Skill with a select few, including Yang Ping'an, Yang Tianyue, Niu Meng, Dugu Yan, and Ye Lingling.
For other disciples, Yang Podi crafted a simplified version. While less effective than the original, it was superior to external versions and easier to cultivate. It contained only five levels, with the remaining four requiring approval from all clan leaders.
Strict rules were established within the families to prevent the technique from being leaked, with violators facing severe punishment.
Meanwhile, the clans focused on cultivation and increasing their spirit power.
