Chapter 141: Heaven Dou First Team vs Second Team
🕑 Added 2024-12-29 17:26:05 +0000 UTCYang Podi silently returned to the Heaven Dou Academy team for the Spirit Master Tournament, acting as if nothing unusual had occurred outside.
The competition continued as planned, with Heaven Dou Second Team maintaining their streak of victories. Their only challenging match came against the Divinewind Academy team.
The battle against the Divinewind team was the toughest of all. All seven Spirit Masters on their team had wind attributes, and their captain, Feng Xiaotian, had a spirit power level of 44. The team's wind attribute also countered Dugu Yan's poison mist easily.
Whenever Dugu Yan's poison mist clashed with the Divinewind team's hurricanes, it was quickly dispersed, frustrating her to the point of nearly resorting to her innate toxic ability to take them down.
However, Niu Meng and Yang Ping'an steadfastly held the front lines. The wind attribute Spirit Masters posed little threat to Niu Meng, and Yang Ping'an, being a Spirit King, was even more resilient.
After a prolonged battle, the Heaven Dou Second Team emerged victorious. Their record remained flawless, leaving only Heaven Dou First Team among the strong teams undefeated.
As the preliminary rounds neared their end, most matches were completed. Even Heaven Dou First Team had faced the Divinewind Academy.
In their match, Heaven Dou First Team narrowly defeated the Divinewind Academy using five Spirit Ancestors. The battle was intense, as wind attribute Spirit Masters held a natural advantage, particularly with their ability to fly. This posed a significant challenge for Heaven Dou First Team.
Tang San's Blue Silver Grass, despite its flexibility, was inferior in toughness to his Ice and Fire Body Refinement. His fourth spirit ability also lacked sufficient power. Additionally, Oscar's Flying Mushroom Sausage was exposed during this battle, eliminating one of their trump cards. Unfortunately, Oscar had yet to reach the Spirit Ancestor level, limiting the team's capabilities.
The final round approached swiftly, and most of the matches among the top teams had concluded. Only the match between Heaven Dou First Team and Heaven Dou Second Team remained. It seemed as though the organizing committee had deliberately arranged it this way.
At this point, Heaven Dou Second Team held a perfect record of 27 wins, standing as the top-ranked team.
Heaven Dou First Team followed with 26 wins and 1 loss, ranking second.
Sky Water Academy secured third place with 25 wins and 2 losses, their defeats coming at the hands of Heaven Dou Second Team and Divinewind Academy.
Divinewind Academy ranked fourth with 24 wins and 3 losses, their defeats coming from Heaven Dou First Team, Heaven Dou Second Team, and Blazing Fire Academy.
Blazing Fire Academy shared fourth place with 24 wins and 3 losses, their losses coming against the top three teams.
Thunderclap Academy ranked sixth with 22 wins and 5 losses.
As for Elephant Armored Academy and Skyblue Academy, they only achieved 20 wins each and were eliminated.
Among the top six, only the match between Heaven Dou First Team and Second Team featured a direct confrontation. The other matches were against weaker teams and would not significantly impact the rankings.
The match between Heaven Dou First Team and Heaven Dou Second Team captured the attention of everyone.
In the Heaven Dou First Team's preparation area, both Yu Xiaogang and Tang San were conflicted about whether to go all out in this final match.
Using their full team of Spirit Ancestors might give them a chance at victory. Otherwise, the match would likely be extremely difficult.
Although the two teams had not yet faced each other, neither Yu Xiaogang nor Tang San underestimated Heaven Dou Second Team's strength.
Finally, Tang San gritted his teeth. "Teacher, this is the last match. I think we shouldn't hold back anymore. Let's field our full lineup and give it our all against the Second Team. If we can't even defeat them, then we'll have no chance against the Spirit Hall Team."
In the original story, Tang San appeared modest on the surface, but deep down, he was highly competitive. This trait was evident in his decision to use his long-hidden Clear Sky Hammer against Feng Xiaotian and face Tianshui Academy's Ice Phoenix Martial Soul Fusion Skill head-on.
Yu Xiaogang, understanding Tang San's personality, also wanted to win this match, especially against the Heaven Dou Second Team, which had rejected his training. Ultimately, he agreed to Tang San's request, fielding a full lineup of Spirit Ancestors for the first time.
In the Spirit Arena, Heaven Dou First Team and Second Team entered simultaneously. Heaven Dou Second Team maintained their usual lineup, which had become familiar due to its consistency.
In contrast, Heaven Dou First Team revealed a significant change, with Tai Long and Ning Heng, who had never appeared before, entering the arena. For the first time, the team displayed their full strength.
As the members revealed their spirit rings, the audience was shocked, especially at the sight of two newly revealed Spirit Ancestors, Tai Long and Ning Heng. A seven-Spirit-Ancestor lineup was rare even in the Heaven Dou region.
Yang Podi observed silently, speculating whether Yu Xiaogang had developed the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. If he had, Yang Podi would concede, knowing his team couldn't defeat it. If not, Yu Xiaogang might be disappointed, as Yang Podi remained confident in his team's lineup.
As the match began, the control-type Spirit Masters from both teams acted first. Tang San used his first spirit ability, Binding, aiming directly at Ye Lingling. Heaven Dou First Team clearly intended to focus on her.
Dugu Yan released her poison, spreading it across the arena. However, Heaven Dou First Team was prepared. Bai Xiaofei used his spirit ability, summoning a gale to disperse the poison mist.
To deal with Yang Ping'an, Heaven Dou First Team deployed Dai Mubai and Yu Tianheng together, clearly intending to suppress the Second Team's strongest powerhouse.
Meanwhile, Xiao Wu engaged Niu Meng directly, her speed allowing her to hold her ground.
This left Tai Long in a difficult position, as he faced Yang Tianyue and Yang Yuxuan alone, being easily overpowered.
As for Niu Kui, he focused on protecting Ye Lingling rather than charging forward.
Thanks to Ning Heng's powerful support, the two teams managed to maintain a temporary stalemate.
Tang San, commanding the battlefield with his Blue Silver Grass, moved the team nimbly. Both sides held their positions for the time being.
Yang Podi smirked as he watched. Heaven Dou First Team's strategy was clever, relying on their superior number of Spirit Ancestors to wear down the opposition. However, Ning Heng, a newly advanced Spirit Ancestor, would struggle to match Ye Lingling, who was already at level 48. Ning Heng's support versus Ye Lingling's healing would be the key to maintaining momentum.
Moreover, Yang Ping'an, as a Spirit King, wasn't someone two lower-ranked Spirit Ancestors could easily contain.
Yang Ping'an suddenly activated his fourth spirit ability, Sharp and Unstoppable. Dai Mubai and Yu Tianheng immediately countered with their own spirit abilities to resist the attack.
In that moment, Niu Meng activated his fourth spirit ability, Iron Wall, blocking Dai Mubai, Yu Tianheng, and Xiao Wu, as well as Tang San's Blue Silver Grass.
Yang Ping'an vanished from view behind Niu Meng's massive Armored Rhinoceros form, concealed from everyone's sight.
To everyone's surprise, Yang Ping'an leapt into the air, wielding his Breaking Soul Spear to strike Bai Xiaofei, who was entangled with Dugu Yan. Caught off guard, Bai Xiaofei was struck directly.
As Bai Xiaofei fell, Dugu Yan's poison followed, incapacitating him. Heaven Dou First Team lost a member early in the match.
In the audience, Yu Xiaogang's face turned pale, and Heaven Dou First Team's members were visibly upset. Heaven Dou Second Team's seamless coordination had taken everyone by surprise, eliminating Bai Xiaofei in an instant.
Heaven Dou Second Team had rarely demonstrated such teamwork in previous matches due to the weaker competition. Yet in this critical moment, their coordination proved devastating. Bai Xiaofei, the key to countering Dugu Yan's poison, was the first to fall.
With Bai Xiaofei gone, Dugu Yan unleashed her poison mist across the arena, forcing Heaven Dou First Team to expend substantial spirit power to resist it. Even Tang San's Blue Silver Grass slowed significantly.
Heaven Dou First Team's position quickly deteriorated, and unless they made a significant move, they seemed destined to lose.
Heaven Dou Second Team pressed their advantage. Yang Ping'an activated his fifth spirit ability, White Tiger Annihilation Strike, his black ten-thousand-year spirit ring glowing as he charged toward Tang San.
Dai Mubai and Yu Tianheng abandoned their battle with Niu Meng to assist Tang San.
Xiao Wu, the fastest, reached Tang San first, using her fourth spirit ability, Invincible Golden Body. Although it blocked physical attacks, Yang Ping'an's spear was so powerful that Xiao Wu was sent flying, forcing Tang San to catch her.
Simultaneously, Yang Tianyue and Yang Yuxuan launched their third spirit abilities, targeting Ning Heng instead of Tai Long.
Niu Meng then activated his second spirit ability, Armor Strength, transforming into a massive Armored Rhinoceros and charging toward Tang San's group, forcing Dai Mubai to block him or risk Tang San being overwhelmed by Yang Ping'an and Niu Meng.
Yu Tianheng rushed to save Ning Heng but was intercepted by Yang Yuxuan, leaving Yang Tianyue to attack Ning Heng unimpeded.
Despite Tai Long's efforts, he couldn't keep up with Yang Tianyue and Yang Yuxuan's speed.
Dugu Yan even launched a poisonous projectile at Tai Long, further complicating his position.
Yang Yuxuan suddenly shifted targets, engaging Yu Tianheng instead. Meanwhile, Yang Tianyue relentlessly attacked Ning Heng, eventually wounding him severely. Ning Heng fell, leaving Heaven Dou First Team without their critical support.
With Bai Xiaofei and Ning Heng gone, Heaven Dou First Team lost both their primary counter to Dugu Yan's poison and their sole support.
The audience was stunned by Heaven Dou Second Team's flawless execution, and the tide of victory seemed to shift decisively in their favor.
Without a support or an effective counter to the poison mist, even Heaven Dou First Team's Spirit Ancestors were unlikely to turn the tide.
Yu Xiaogang stood frozen, plagued by self-doubt. Heaven Dou Second Team's targeting was precise, eliminating two key members who appeared less flashy but were vital to the team's structure.
Without Bai Xiaofei, Dugu Yan's poison was nearly unstoppable. Without Ning Heng, they had no support.
Could victory still be within reach?
