Chapter 114: Encounter with Shrek
🕑 Added 2024-12-22 16:46:38 +0000 UTCAfter leaving the Star Dou Forest, Yang Podi went straight to a nearby inn, planning to rest for a night before heading back.
Coincidentally, upon entering the inn, he noticed two groups of people waiting for their meals. One group consisted of the seven students from Shrek Academy, while the other group wore blue uniforms, indicating they were likely students from the Blue Sunshine Academy.
Yang Podi ignored everyone and went straight to a corner, sitting down alone.
Before long, a waiter came over with a menu. Yang Podi didn't even glance at it and simply said to the waiter, "Bring me a table full of vegetarian dishes, as quickly as possible."
Saying this, he tossed a small bag of gold soul coins onto the table and stopped paying attention.
The waiter took the pouch, estimating that it contained dozens of gold soul coins. Immediately, he responded enthusiastically, "Of course, sir. We'll get your order out as quickly as possible. Would you like some soul beast meat? Ours is of excellent quality."
Yang Podi replied coldly, "Just vegetarian dishes, quickly."
The waiter hurried away upon hearing this.
Since leaving the Slaughter City, Yang Podi had become sensitive to the smell of blood. Every time he encountered it, the killing intent within him would stir uncontrollably. Eating vegetarian food, however, calmed him significantly, so he had adopted a vegetarian diet recently.
Not long after, the waiter brought out the dishes quickly. Whether it was because of the bag of gold soul coins or because vegetarian dishes were easier to prepare, Yang Podi wasn't sure.
One of the Blue Sunshine Academy students seemed displeased. "Why is he getting his food first when we arrived earlier?"
The waiter hurriedly explained, "Dear customer, the gentleman ordered only vegetarian dishes, which are simpler to prepare. Some can even be served directly after minimal preparation. If you'd like vegetarian dishes, we can serve them just as quickly."
"Vegetarian dishes? Are those even edible? Just bring us our food already!"
Yang Podi glanced at the students from the Blue Sunshine Academy but paid them no further attention, continuing to eat his meal in peace.
Meanwhile, the tension between the two groups began to escalate. Among Shrek Academy's group, the rotund Ma Hongjun stared at a girl from the Blue Sunshine Academy, making inappropriate comments.
The Blue Sunshine Academy students, angered, attempted to mediate, but their efforts were fruitless. The other six Shrek students appeared to revel in the growing conflict, as if they enjoyed watching the chaos unfold.
Seeing this, Yang Podi couldn't help but shake his head.
In the original work, Shrek Academy had a saying: "Cowards don't cause trouble." At first glance, this seemed like a bold and ambitious motto.
But on deeper thought, it was deeply problematic. Students shouldn't concern themselves with causing or avoiding trouble; their primary task should be learning. Only by focusing on their studies can they secure a brighter future.
Shrek Academy students often seemed to bully the weak and fear the strong.
If students recklessly caused trouble, they risked provoking people they shouldn't. The consequences could range from being reprimanded to outright losing their lives.
Were it not for the Shrek Seven Devils' strong backgrounds, they might have been killed countless times already.
Whether it was provoking Canghui Academy in the spirit forest, seriously injuring opponents during soul fights, or using hidden weapons in the Heaven Dou Royal Academy's arena match, they often acted less like students and more like assassins from Tang San's previous life in the Tang Sect.
The tension between the two tables escalated further when a waiter serving Shrek Academy accidentally tripped over a Blue Sunshine Academy student, nearly spilling a plate of food onto Dai Mubai's head.
The conflict intensified as the Blue Sunshine students retaliated verbally, making lewd comments toward the Shrek girls.
Ning Rongrong, feeling increasingly left out, decided to stir things up. Unlike Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing, who received constant attention from Tang San and Dai Mubai, Ning Rongrong felt overshadowed.
Unexpectedly, she approached Yang Podi.
"Brother Yang, it's been a long time!"
Yang Podi smiled at her. It had been two years since they last met. Ning Rongrong seemed taller now, and seeing a familiar face warmed his heart.
"Miss Rongrong, it has been a while."
"Brother Yang, where have you been these past two years? I couldn't find you at the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. Sister Lingling misses you dearly."
Hearing Ning Rongrong mention Ye Lingling, Yang Podi couldn't help but feel nostalgic. "I went to a special place to train. How is Lingling doing?"
"She misses you a lot. So do your teammates."
"I miss them too. Rongrong, why are you in Soto City?"
"Heaven Dou City is so dull. Sister Lingling and the others just train all day. I wanted to join your team, but it was already full, so I came to Soto City. Now I'm a student at Shrek Academy."
"Shrek Academy is a good school. You should study hard here."
The room fell silent as both groups noticed Ning Rongrong chatting familiarly with this strange man.
Yang Podi was dressed entirely in black, with even his head covered, making him look like an eccentric figure.
"Brother Yang, if someone bullies me, will you stand up for me?" Ning Rongrong asked mischievously.
Yang Podi smirked. "Rongrong, who would dare bully you? Couldn't you just call your Sword Grandpa to deal with them?"
"But Sword Grandpa isn't here. Didn't you promise my father you'd take care of me?"
"That was back at the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. Now that you're in Soto City, you can't expect me to keep protecting you."
"I don't care! If you don't help me, I'll tell Sister Lingling you ignored me. Don't forget, I helped you pursue her back then!"
As they spoke, a teacher from the Blue Sunshine Academy approached. "Are you this student's guardian? You should teach her to respect her elders."
Yang Podi, uninterested in the drama, was annoyed when the matter was brought to him. He glanced at the teacher coldly. "I don't like being interrupted. Leave now."
The teacher, incensed, began to speak again. Yang Podi's voice turned icy: "Leave."
The teacher grew angrier. "A brat like you dares to—"
Before he could finish, Yang Podi grabbed his neck. The teacher tried to summon his martial soul, but a wave of killing intent from Yang Podi overwhelmed him, rendering him helpless.
With a single hand, Yang Podi threw the teacher out of the inn. The stunned teacher looked back in terror before hurriedly fleeing with his students.
Yang Podi turned back to Ning Rongrong. "Satisfied now, Miss Rongrong?"
"Brother Yang, can I join your team?"
"Do as you please."
Ma Hongjun and Oscar seemed about to speak, but Tang San stopped them. "Wait."
Tang San, with his experience, immediately sensed the overwhelming killing intent earlier. The man before them was far more dangerous than he appeared.
After finishing his meal, Yang Podi left to rest.
Meanwhile, Ning Rongrong rejoined her group.
"Rongrong, who was that?" Tang San asked.
"He's Yang Podi, captain of Heaven Dou Royal Academy's second team. He disappeared two years ago to train, and now he's in Soto City."
Dai Mubai looked at Zhu Zhuqing, who was trembling. "Zhuqing, do you know him?"
Zhu Zhuqing nodded, still shaken. "I was being hunted by my family a few days ago. Two Soul Ancestors and three Soul Elders tried to kill him to eliminate witnesses, but he killed them all in under a minute."
Tang San was shocked. "Killed five people, including two Soul Ancestors, in a minute?"
Zhao Wuji, who had been observing from a distance, entered the room.
"Teacher Zhao, what's his strength?" Tang San asked.
"I don't know. His moves were too fast to gauge his power. I couldn't even sense his soul power level—he must have a treasure concealing it."
"A single move to defeat a Soul King? He's immensely strong. His physical strength might even rival mine," Zhao Wuji added.
Dai Mubai was incredulous. "Teacher Zhao, how is that possible? You're a Soul Sage known for your strength!"
Zhao Wuji could only shake his head.
The group turned to Ning Rongrong for answers.
"Yang Podi is from the Breaking Clan. He's five years older than me, so he's seventeen now. He joined Heaven Dou Royal Academy at twelve with a soul power of thirty-five."
"My father and Sword Grandpa said he's a prodigy. All his soul rings are strength-type, absorbed from powerful soul beasts, and every ring surpasses the norm. Even as a Soul Elder, he could defeat Soul Ancestors in the arena."
The Shrek students were stunned. Yang Podi's talent and strength left them speechless.
Yang Podi, unaware of their thoughts, focused solely on resting and returning home soon. Although his time in the Star Dou Forest was fruitful, it had also been exhausting.
