Chapter 112: A Chance Encounter with Zhu Zhuqing
🕑 Added 2024-12-20 17:09:19 +0000 UTCLooking at the chaos around him, Yang Podi carefully washed himself in the creek. However, no matter how much he scrubbed, the stench of blood seemed impossible to remove.
To avoid attracting attention, Yang Podi changed into coarse linen clothes typically worn by commoners and began heading east, following the map.
As he traveled, he deliberately chose remote paths, avoiding cities. He feared that entering a city might lead to conflicts, and losing control could result in accidental killings.
After about four days of travel, Yang Podi studied the map carefully. According to it, he was still four to five days away from reaching Heaven Dou City. Judging by his current location, he was likely already in the Barak Kingdom.
This reminded him of the Shrek Academy mentioned in the original story. Shrek Academy was located in Suotuo City, within the Barak Kingdom. Now that he was 17, it seemed to coincide with Shrek Academy's enrollment season. This meant that Tang San and the others were likely enrolling around this time, though the exact timing was uncertain, and he couldn't confirm whether Tang San and the others had already joined.
That night, Yang Podi rested alone by a creek. Ever since leaving the City of Slaughter, he particularly enjoyed staying near creeks. This allowed him to clean and soak himself, effectively reducing some of the bloody odor lingering on him, making it slightly less overwhelming.
Just as he was relaxing, a commotion came from the distance. It was obvious that soul masters were fighting.
The noise grew louder, and it seemed they were moving toward Yang Podi's location. He had no interest in meddling in such matters, but the group got closer. Upon closer inspection, five people dressed in black were chasing a young girl in black.
The girl wore a black leather outfit that accentuated her agile and swift movements. Her figure seemed familiar to Yang Podi.
The five pursuers, also dressed in black, were all men. After observing their power levels, he estimated there were two Soul Ancestors and three Soul Elders among them.
Yang Podi couldn't help but think, Five people chasing a single girl in black leather... why does this feel so familiar?
When he looked closer at the girl being pursued, he realized she was none other than Zhu Zhuqing from the original story and one of the future Shrek Seven Devils. Thankfully, Zhu Zhuyun, her sister, was not present.
Yang Podi sighed inwardly, Seriously? Two Soul Ancestors chasing a Grandmaster and they still let her escape? How incompetent can you be?
Not wanting to get involved in Zhu Family matters, Yang Podi decided to hide in the forest nearby.
However, fate had other plans. The girl, trying to escape her pursuers, also ran into the forest—right into Yang Podi.
Both were startled. Yang Podi was speechless. He had deliberately avoided the situation, only for it to land right on his doorstep. The girl, surprised to find someone already in the forest, hesitated briefly.
Before they could react further, the five black-clad men caught up and surrounded them both.
The leader of the group spoke, "Second Miss, please come back with us. Don't make this difficult for us."
The girl coldly retorted, "I'm not going back. If I return to that cold Zhu Family, I'll be killed by you all."
The leader glanced at Yang Podi and sneered, "Second Miss, I didn't expect you to be hiding in the forest with a man. This doesn't reflect well on the Zhu Family's reputation."
Yang Podi, who had been trying to stay out of this, found himself dragged into it. He couldn't help but interject, "Excuse me, I have nothing to do with this young lady. How about I leave first?"
Before Yang Podi could make his exit, the leader interrupted, "Kid, I don't care who you are. Since you're here with our Second Miss, you're not leaving."
Yang Podi felt like coughing blood.
The girl added, "I have no relationship with this person. Let him go."
But the leader remained unmoved. "It doesn't matter if you're related or not. For the Second Miss's reputation, we can't let him go."
Hearing this, Yang Podi's face darkened. "I've said I have nothing to do with your Second Miss. Are you planning to kill me?"
The group, consisting of Soul Ancestors and Soul Elders, couldn't sense Yang Podi's soul power. His coarse clothing made him appear to be an ordinary man, albeit with an intimidating aura, perhaps mistaken for a hunter or butcher.
The leader sneered, "Kid, you're just a commoner. Killing you is no big deal."
Yang Podi's expression grew colder. "Just because someone's a commoner, you think you can kill them at will?"
"We are from the powerful Zhu Family of the Star Luo Empire. Killing a commoner is as easy as squashing an ant."
The other four chuckled, agreeing with their leader's arrogance.
Yang Podi clenched his fists, suppressing the killing intent boiling within him. "This is the Heaven Dou Empire. Do you dare act so recklessly?"
"The Heaven Dou Empire is weak. Killing you here means nothing."
Hearing this, Yang Podi's eyes turned blood red. Summoning his Breaking Soul Spear without even revealing his soul rings, he thrust it directly at the leader.
The leader was startled. He hadn't expected this "commoner" to be a soul master. Nevertheless, he summoned his martial soul to defend himself—his martial soul was also a Netherworld Civet.
But to everyone's shock, Yang Podi's spear pierced through the leader's defenses, leaving a gaping hole in his chest. The leader fell dead on the spot.
The other four were terrified and hastily summoned their martial souls to attack. Yang Podi ignored their attempts, moving with lightning speed. His spear struck again, piercing another man's throat.
The remaining three tried to flee, but Yang Podi's killing intent had been fully unleashed. He didn't let them escape. Within a minute, all five lay dead, each slain with a single strike. Blood painted the forest red.
The girl stood frozen, trembling in fear. She had never witnessed such brutal slaughter before.
Yang Podi glanced at her, suppressing his killing intent with great effort. He retrieved a Calming Pill from his soul tool, swallowed it, and jumped into the creek to wash off the blood. The water turned crimson as the pill and cold water gradually calmed him.
When Yang Podi returned to shore, the girl hadn't fled. She sat silently, seemingly in shock.
Ignoring her, Yang Podi changed into clean clothes and prepared to leave.
Suddenly, the girl spoke, "Do you know who you've killed? They're from the Zhu Family of the Star Luo Empire. They'll send experts to hunt you down."
Yang Podi sneered, "The Zhu Family, with their Netherworld Civet martial soul, is merely a subsidiary of the Dai Family. If they're not afraid to die, they can come after me. I'll gladly kill them all."
With that, he turned and left. The girl glanced at the corpses around her, hesitated, and followed him.
Yang Podi soon found another place to rest for the night. The girl kept her distance but stayed within sight.
The next morning, Yang Podi woke to find the girl asleep. Shaking his head, he muttered, This girl has no sense of danger, sleeping so carelessly in the wild.
The girl woke shortly after, startled like a frightened deer. Blocking Yang Podi's path, she asked, "Where are you headed?"
"Soto City," Yang Podi replied curtly.
The girl brightened. "I'm going there too. Let's travel together."
Yang Podi frowned. "A girl traveling alone isn't safe, especially with someone like me."
The girl looked downcast. "I had no choice but to leave home. With your strength, you could easily kill me. Traveling with you might be safer."
"Fine, but stay quiet. I don't like noise."
"What's your name? I'm Zhu Zhuqing of the Zhu Family."
"Yang Podi of the Breaking Clan."
Hearing this, Zhu Zhuqing's expression shifted. No wonder he dared kill Zhu Family members.
The Breaking Clan's reputation had grown over the years. Yang Wudi, their patriarch, had become a Title Douluo, feared for his overwhelming attack power. Even Title Douluo avoided provoking him. Combined with their alliance with the Strength Clan and their role as a major supplier of medicinal products across the continent, the Breaking Clan was a force to be reckoned with.
