Chapter 118: Arrogant
🕑 Added 2024-12-18 17:21:31 +0000 UTCArroganton and Judy arrived at the media store, they saw two people protesting. One of them, a bald Black guy, shouted, "Hey! Dival! How can you change the disc? You're stopping us from watching our favorite bikini photo albums!"
"Exactly!" the short, bespectacled guy said, tilting his head defiantly. "I've got to critique these photos today, from head to butt, and then from butt to feet!"
"Buddy, you don't need to emphasize the butt. That'll just expose your fetish," the bald Black guy advised his companion with no attempt to hide his voice.
The bespectacled guy squinted at him. "When did I ever say I liked butts? Though those round, perky lumps are as delicious as jelly, I never said I liked them."
"Smack!" The bald guy slapped his forehead. "Alright, you've totally exposed yourself."
Dival walked over to the two and held up a black-and-white album. "Get this straight, this is my store. I'll play whatever I want, alright? And you two always just come in to look, never buy! You think you can fool my eyes?"
"Sounds like you're accusing us of just lingering without ever getting involved. That's insulting," the bespectacled guy said angrily, rising on his toes to face Dival.
Dival shrugged. "Sorry, I misspoke."
Then, he suddenly smiled wickedly. "You don't even get the chance to linger!"
"Damn it!" The bespectacled guy jumped up, reaching out as if to hit him, but was stopped by the bald guy. "Hey, Puchi, Puchi, calm down! Calm down, okay? Be good, don't move! You should be quieter, not like you're having a fit."
But Puchi showed no intention of stopping, growling at Dival like an angry dog.
"Growl! Madden, don't stop me, I'm gonna kill him!"
Milon and Judy walked to the counter, and seeing this scene, Milon couldn't help but complain to Judy, "It's like he's training a dog."
"Yeah… you're right," Judy agreed, meeting his gaze and then laughing.
When Dival turned and saw them, he immediately broke into a broad smile. "Oh! Look who's here, Milon, Judy! Here to buy a new album?"
"Yeah, we're here to see what new albums you've got…" Milon began, but Dival immediately raised the disc in his hand. "You definitely need to check this one out; it'll blow your mind."
"What? Who's the artist?" Milon, who considered himself a music aficionado, had heard almost every song and seen every music video. Even during last year's MV craze, only Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" and Eminem's "Without Me" impressed him, though he found the rest interesting but not mind-blowing.
So, when Dival claimed this song would surprise him, Milon became curious.
"You've heard his song... 'Reinvention,'" Dival said as he inserted the CD into the DVD player.
Milon then remembered an album he had once collected from that artist and felt some confusion. "But I thought he had an accident... didn't he pass away? How can he still have a new song?"
Raymond wasn't very popular, but his death had saddened many fans of his song "Reinvention," and some even went to the neighborhood where Raymond lived to lay flowers.
"Exactly…" Dival pressed the remote control and hit play. "This is his last song, and it's also Ethan's directed MV."
"Ethan? Now you've got my attention." Milon was a fan of Ethan and had collected all his works. He was so excited when Ethan won the MTV Award that it felt like watching a rare treasure finally being unearthed and shining in the world.
Judy showed no visible expression, casually sipping her juice while following the two's gaze to the TV.
"Zzii!"
The MV opened with a stage play, where a group of clowns in bright makeup appeared under a red velvet curtain. They were of all skin tones, both male and female, dancing to the low melody of the song, lifting the curtains with their hands, and the song's title appeared.
"Arrogant?" Milon nodded thoughtfully. The title felt like a good match for "Reinvention."
Meanwhile, Madden and Puchi, who had been arguing, fell silent after the MV started. Other customers who were browsing the CDs also stopped and watched as the stage curtain lifted to reveal a prison scene.
Jessica Alba, dressed in a tight yellow dress, stood at the defendant's stand, facing a group of judges draped in red robes, their faces obscured by bright spotlights. These judges were the clowns from earlier, now transformed into high-ranking judges.
"I'm innocent!" Jessica shouted, and as the rhythm of the song paused, Raymond's rap began.
"They say my songs are crap, like a sandwich in yesterday's vomit."
"Pointless lyrics, like useless boogers!"
"They say my voice sounds like a duck, quacking with no meaning, but screw them, why should I follow these jerks?"
As the music continued, the judges began to stand up and announce Jessica's crimes, and with every crime declared, she lost a piece of clothing.
Puchi and Madden watched, mesmerized. However, when Jessica lost her final piece of clothing, instead of what they were hoping to see, a large FBI logo appeared, blocking Jessica's body, leaving only her smooth shoulders and bare arms exposed.
"FXXK!" They both raised their middle fingers at the screen, but the scene managed to attract even more customers, who gathered to watch despite the harsh music. The MV was undeniably compelling.
The viewers watched as Jessica was dressed in prisoner clothes and chained with heavy shackles, about to enter prison.
But just as the song transitioned into the next phase, the beat dropped again.
"You idiots couldn't even compare to my AK-47, I'm going to shoot you all and lay your bodies out in front of the supermarket like human doormats!"
"Oh, wait, I've got a riddle, but there's a catch, don't spray me with spit."
The background music sounded a puzzled effect, followed by Jessica's fierce moves as she killed a guard, donned yellow training clothes, and wielded two AK-47s to blast through the prison walls!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The gunfire and rap merged together.
"What's the synonym for Dylan?" A questioning sound effect followed by Jessica's flawless action, as she killed one guard after another before putting on yellow training gear and holding two AK-47s to blow up the prison walls.
"Clang! Clang!" The gunshots echoed.
Jessica was later shown in a dojo, surrounded by judges dressed in red. They had removed their makeup and appeared in their original forms. In the center, various wanted posters were displayed, featuring Raymond, Eminem, and other artists who weren't well-received by mainstream critics.
As Jessica escaped the prison, the judges immediately stood up without a word, drawing their swords and rushing toward her.
The music reached its climax.
"Arrogant! Beat everything!"
"I look down on everyone, I treat all fools like garbage!"
"I'm going to beat everyone and cut down all my critics!"
As the judges attacked, Jessica swung her sword, and each slash caused a judge to fall.
The scenes were violent, with broken arms, dismembered limbs, and Jessica wielding a knife in hand-to-hand combat, slamming the judges' heads into the ground.
Every frame emphasized violence, but because the blood wasn't red, it felt a bit comical, easing the bloody tone.
As the song neared its end, Jessica pinned each judge to the wall, with Dylan being the first.
With his long beard, hooked nose, and hooded look, his image in the MV was remarkably similar to Dylan in real life, making it hard to tell them apart.
After dealing with Dylan, Jessica continued eliminating the rest—every critic, every radio DJ, and every media figure who had ever criticized Raymond.
After all the enemies were eliminated, Jessica returned to the courtroom, smashing the judge's benches into pieces.
Then, in the final verse, Raymond cursed all his critics, while Jessica destroyed the stage with her AK.
Bang! The red velvet curtain was torn apart by bullets.
As Jessica turned to leave, the curtain fluttered down, revealing bullet holes that formed the title of the song.
Arrogant!
