Chapter 109: Hundred Wins in the Hell Slaughter
🕑 Added 2024-12-17 17:44:30 +0000 UTCSince entering the Slaughter City, Yang Podi had not cultivated his spirit power through meditation. The chaos within the city made it impossible to calm his mind, as he had to remain constantly vigilant to guard against sneak attacks at any moment.
Now, Yang Podi had achieved 74 victories, making him the person with the most wins in the Slaughter City.
Many had tried to align themselves with him, including a number of women. However, their approach was only met with the spear in Yang Podi's hand.
In this place, Yang Podi dared not trust anyone. Rather than allow others to come close, he preferred to eliminate them first, reducing potential threats.
All of Yang Podi's focus was on honing his spear techniques and, more importantly, refining his killing intent.
The air in the Slaughter City was not only laced with toxins but also carried a unique energy, likely the divine power of the Asura God.
On the Douluo Continent, there were four known locations of divine inheritance: Sea God Island, Angel Temple, Rakshasa Secret Realm, and Slaughter City. Each had its unique characteristics.
On Sea God Island, the divine power of the Sea God was all-encompassing, making it the best place to enhance spirit power, especially under the Sea God's Light.
Similarly, the Slaughter City had its own cultivation environment. However, it was unsuitable for increasing spirit power. Instead, due to the pervasive killing aura, it was an excellent place for those with attack-oriented martial souls.
After cultivating in the Slaughter City for a year, Yang Podi's martial soul, the Breaking Soul Spear, underwent subtle changes. Originally jet-black, the spear now bore streaks of blood-red, as if infused with the killing aura of the city.
The spear had become more fierce, brutal, and bloodthirsty, seemingly absorbing the aura of slaughter from the surroundings.
According to the original records, spirit masters' martial souls were alive and had souls of their own. Now, Yang Podi began to sense changes in his martial soul, as though it was trying to break free of his control.
This was the consequence of a year of killing. Yang Podi had lost track of how many people he had slain—conservatively over two thousand. On some days, he had killed more than a hundred, not to mention the 74 battles in the Hell Slaughter Arena.
Each kill strengthened the killing intent within him, which the Breaking Soul Spear absorbed in turn.
Over the past year, Yang Podi created a new spear technique based on his spirit ring abilities and training. This technique relied not on spirit rings but on spirit power or his killing intent.
He named it Breaking Soul Nine Forms.
The First Form, Instant Strike, was inspired by his second spirit skill. It allowed him to teleport directly in front of his opponent and strike using killing intent. This move was swift and unpredictable, akin to a teleportation technique.
The Second Form, Dragon-like Spear, was based on his fifth spirit skill and his regular spear techniques. It gathered all killing intent into the Breaking Soul Spear for a powerful strike, resembling the force of a dragon.
The Third Form, Blades Converge into One, was incomplete but nearly mastered. This form released numerous spear shadows infused with killing intent, which would converge into a massive piercing attack. Yang Podi estimated that once fully mastered, this technique would grow stronger with his power, potentially rivaling ninth spirit skills when he reached the Titled Douluo level.
The remaining six forms were still in their infancy and would require more time and practice to develop.
As Yang Podi continued participating in the Hell Slaughter Arena, the difficulty increased significantly.
By now, everyone knew of Yang Podi's ruthlessness and strength. Each time he entered the arena, the other nine participants would frantically team up against him, seeing this as their only hope for survival.
Over the next eight months, Yang Podi completed another 25 battles in the arena.
The intervals between matches grew longer, and each match became increasingly challenging. By the time he completed his 99th battle, the killing intent within him had almost solidified, and the Breaking Soul Spear had turned entirely blood-red, appearing like a bloodthirsty beast.
Yang Podi himself had become more terrifying, exuding a monstrous and bloodthirsty aura. The air around him seemed tinged with blood, driving those nearby to madness.
In the chambers of the Slaughter King, he discussed the matter with his enforcers. Among them were two Titled Douluo-level enforcers capable of using spirit abilities in the city.
One enforcer spoke, "Great Slaughter King, the God of Slaughter has achieved 99 victories. At his current pace, he could complete his hundredth battle within half a month. Should we attempt to recruit him?"
The Slaughter King replied coldly, "Do you believe that God of Slaughter has the strength to achieve a hundred victories? To pass the Hell Road?"
After a moment's hesitation, the enforcer answered, "Based on his record and displayed strength, he should have no problem achieving a hundred wins. His ruthlessness, composure, and determination suggest he could also overcome the Hell Road."
The Slaughter King fell silent before continuing, "According to the rules, no one may interfere with participants with over fifty victories. Let him be."
Another enforcer interjected, "Your Majesty, every Killing God has brought disaster to the Slaughter City. The Prophecy Wall warns us: 'When the Killing God descends, disaster follows.' Past Killing Gods have always left the city in ruins. If this one is no different…"
The Slaughter King interrupted, "I am aware of the prophecy. However, this Killing God is unlike any before him. He is a descendant of the Breaking Clan, skilled in poison refinement. He carries a toxin that could annihilate the Slaughter City if unleashed. For his final trial in the arena, choose his opponents carefully. Let it be a battle he will never forget."
When Yang Podi completed his 99th trial, he rested for a month. The killing intent within him felt ready to burst, and the Breaking Soul Spear had become a blood-red monstrosity. Yang Podi suspected that completing his final trial might fully transform the spear into a true cursed weapon.
Determined, he stepped into the Hell Slaughter Arena for the last time.
This hundredth battle drew immense attention. Even the Slaughter King attended in person, accompanied by his enforcers. The arena was packed with spectators chanting, "Slaughter King! Slaughter King!"
Yang Podi stood tall in the arena, ignoring the nine opponents who had formed a coordinated formation clearly designed to counter him.
At the referee's signal, the battle began.
The nine opponents attacked in unison, but Yang Podi sneered, disappearing with Instant Strike. Before they could react, he reappeared outside their encirclement, his Breaking Soul Spear dripping with blood.
One of the nine had already fallen, his chest pierced clean through.
The leader shouted, "He's only one man! There are eight of us! We can take him!"
Charging forward in heavy armor, the leader swung his weapon with all his might.
Yang Podi smirked coldly, channeling all his killing intent into the spear. With both hands gripping the weapon, he unleashed the Second Form: Dragon-like Spear.
A wave of killing intent, shaped like a dragon, surged forward. The leader's attack was crushed, his body reduced to a bloody mist.
The crowd fell silent in shock.
Yang Podi showed no mercy, wielding the Breaking Soul Spear like a bloodthirsty beast, slaying the remaining opponents in minutes.
As the arena erupted in cheers of "God of Slaughter!",a new Killing God was born.
