Chapter 108: The King of Slaughter
🕑 Added 2024-12-16 17:56:02 +0000 UTCAfter Yang Podi finished his first match in the Hell Slaughter Arena, he was ambushed by several individuals as soon as he left.
However, Yang Podi remained fearless. The previous match hadn't drained much of his energy, leaving him with enough strength to handle further battles.
Over the next two days, Yang Podi killed over a hundred people. Many underestimated him as a newcomer, thinking he would be an easy target, and continuously launched surprise attacks.
Yet Yang Podi never retreated. Wielding his Breaking Soul Spear, he mercilessly killed every attacker without hesitation, even displaying extreme brutality. The spear in his hand moved like a dragon, piercing through his enemies or splitting them into pieces.
Within just a few days, his clothes were soaked in so much blood that they turned completely red, giving him a terrifying appearance.
In the following days, things became relatively calmer. Yang Podi registered for a match in the Hell Slaughter Arena every three days, almost without interruption.
In just a month, he participated in nine matches and emerged victorious in all of them. Most of his nine opponents in each match died at his hands, while a few fell to others' sneak attacks.
As a result, Yang Podi's reputation spread throughout the Slaughter City. Everyone knew that a formidable newcomer had appeared in the Hell Slaughter Arena—a cold, ruthless fighter who killed anyone who dared to challenge him without mercy.
Yang Podi even gave himself a title: "God of Slaughter."
During this time, Yang Wuju, the Third Elder of the Breaking Clan, returned home and informed the clan leader that Yang Podi had entered the Slaughter City. The news shocked everyone in the clan.
His mother, Niu Jinfeng, was particularly distressed, asking anxiously, "Why would Podi go to the Slaughter City? Is there some hidden reason?"
His father, Yang Zhentian, however, seemed more understanding. He recognized his son's determination to grow stronger.
Ultimately, the clan leader, Yang Wudi, spoke up, saying, "My grandson Yang Podi has always pursued strength. He likely went to the Slaughter City because he believes it will make him stronger. I trust that he will come out safely. If he doesn't, I'll go to the Slaughter City myself and poison everyone there."
The King of Slaughter: ?
After a year in the Slaughter City, Yang Podi participated in 74 matches in the Hell Slaughter Arena, becoming the contestant with the most victories in the city's history.
During this time, Yang Podi revealed a portion of his abilities, including his spear energy. In a place where spirit abilities were prohibited, spear energy was like a cheat code—both difficult to counter and immensely powerful.
However, he never used the two external spirit bones he possessed, keeping them as his trump card for critical moments.
The most dangerous moment came when hundreds of people, including multiple Spirit Sages and Spirit Douluo, surrounded him as he exited the Hell Slaughter Arena.
Although spirit abilities couldn't be used in the Slaughter City, Spirit Douluo and Spirit Sages, having absorbed seven or eight spirit rings, had incredibly robust physical attributes, including immense strength and defense.
Normally, a Spirit Douluo could easily overpower a Spirit King without using any spirit abilities, as their physical attributes were far superior.
Nevertheless, Yang Podi fought them head-on with all his might. His Breaking Soul Spear, like a dragon, unleashed spear intent that broke through their defenses and defeated them.
Over the year, Yang Podi deepened his understanding of spear techniques. He realized that the techniques he had learned were somewhat lacking and unsuitable for advanced spirit masters.
Drawing from his battle experiences, Yang Podi infused his killing intent into his spear techniques, creating a style uniquely suited to himself.
His goal was to develop a set of nine spear techniques, though he had currently mastered only the first two. Even with just these two techniques, he was invincible in the Hell Slaughter Arena, and no one dared to ambush him anymore.
However, Yang Podi's string of victories caught the attention of the King of Slaughter, the ruler of the Slaughter City. The King of Slaughter, wary of anyone becoming a "God of Slaughter," feared it would weaken the city's strength.
One day, as Yang Podi was practicing his spear techniques, the black-veiled girl who had guided him upon his arrival appeared.
She respectfully said, "God of Slaughter, the great King of Slaughter requests an audience with you."
"Lead the way. I've been wanting to meet the King of Slaughter," Yang Podi replied.
The black-veiled girl led Yang Podi to a peculiar room filled with a slaughter aura even more intense than the Hell Slaughter Arena.
At the center of the room sat a tall man, nearly two meters in height, on a throne. His face was pale, and it was difficult to discern his age—he appeared both ancient and youthful, exuding immense pressure like an insurmountable mountain.
Yang Podi thought to himself, "Is this Tang Chen, the former sect master of the Clear Sky Sect? His strength is incredible, even as a puppet controlled by the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King. How much stronger would he have been without this curse?"
Before Yang Podi could think further, the King of Slaughter spoke: "God of Slaughter, judging by your weapon, you must be from the Breaking Clan."
"Indeed, I am," Yang Podi replied calmly.
"You are the first member of the Breaking Clan to enter the Slaughter City. Its dangers far exceed your imagination. I offer you a chance: swear allegiance to me, and I will make you the most powerful figure in the Slaughter City."
Yang Podi sneered inwardly but maintained a calm demeanor. "King of Slaughter, I appreciate your offer. However, my goal is to complete the hundred trials in the Hell Slaughter Arena and become a true God of Slaughter. I'm sure you understand what I mean."
"You seek the Slaughter Domain?"
"Yes, I came here to obtain the Slaughter Domain."
The Slaughter King looked utterly disdainful: "God of Slaughter, achieving a hundred victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena to obtain the Slaughter Domain is merely the most basic requirement. You still need to pass through the Hell Road, and that's the real challenge."
Yang Podi replied directly, "If I recall correctly, in nearly a hundred years, only two people have passed through the Hell Road. I believe I'll be the third."
"The Hell Road can only be opened by me," the Slaughter King said coldly, "and I can grant people the ability to use soul skills. If you refuse to submit to me, I am confident there are many others who would be eager to kill you, especially those who are forced to participate in the Hell Slaughter Arena."
In the Slaughter City, anyone wanting to live in the inner city must participate in at least one Hell Slaughter Arena battle every year.
Recently, Yang Podi's continuous victories had terrified many, leaving them too scared to compete. But as their time limit grew closer, they would eventually have no choice but to face him.
Yang Podi didn't respond to the Slaughter King's threat but instead spoke to himself, "Mandrake flowers, Venomous Dragon Grass, Twinflowers, Nether Leaves, Piercing Lotus, Heartbreak Grass, Seven Deadly Flowers…"
"These toxins are well-combined, causing gradual loss of sanity and turning people into mindless killing machines. It's fair to say that the Bloody Mary gradually destroys a soul master's foundation. Even the air here is laced with these substances."
"If I were to add Heart-Eroding Grass, Bone-Withering Flowers, and Heart-Biting Lotus into the air, combining their toxins with the existing ones, I'm afraid very few in the entire Slaughter City would survive."
The Slaughter King's face darkened instantly. "God of Slaughter, are you threatening me? Anyone who dares destroy Slaughter City will die!"
However, Yang Podi remained calm. "Your Majesty, the Slaughter King, you are the strongest and ruler of Slaughter City. Of course, I understand your position, and I, too, wish for the city to remain intact."
"It's best if we stay out of each other's way. I'll complete my trial, and you can continue ruling Slaughter City. Isn't that ideal?"
After speaking, Yang Podi retrieved three herbs from his storage ring: Heart-Eroding Grass, Bone-Withering Flowers, and Heart-Biting Lotus.
Seeing this, the Slaughter King's expression turned even darker, his face extremely grim.
Yang Podi continued, "My clan, the Po Zhi Clan, specializes in refining poisons. I've already prepared a batch in advance. If I cannot leave this room safely, the toxins will spread, causing significant trouble for everyone."
The room fell into silence.
In the end, the Slaughter King gritted his teeth and said, "God of Slaughter, very well, you've done exceptionally well. I hope you succeed in the Hell Slaughter Arena. I look forward to you becoming the next Killing God."
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Yang Podi said before leaving the room. Despite his calm demeanor, he remained cautious and kept his distance from the Slaughter King, an unmatched powerhouse.
After Yang Podi left, a veiled girl entered the Slaughter King's room. "Your Majesty, have you reached an agreement with the God of slaughter ? Will he submit to us?"
The Slaughter King's expression remained unpleasant. "Leave it be. Don't meddle with the Killing God anymore. Let him proceed with the trial on his own."
The veiled girl seemed anxious. "Your Majesty, how can this be? The birth of a Killing God is a significant loss for Slaughter City."
But before she could finish, the Slaughter King's arm pierced through her body, killing her instantly.
Looking at the corpse before him, the Slaughter King said coldly, "I am the ruler of Slaughter City. Don't presume to instruct me."
With that, he took a sip of his Bloody Mary, savoring its seemingly endless sweetness.
As Yang Podi left the Slaughter King's room, his expression darkened.
In the original story, both Tang San and Hu Liena had tremendous backing—Bibi Dong and Tang Hao respectively, representing the Spirit Hall and the Clear Sky Sect.
It was precisely because of their powerful backgrounds that the Slaughter King dared not act against them.
Today, however, it was clear that the Slaughter King intended to stop him from acquiring the Killing God Domain.
Fortunately, he had prepared in advance. By studying poison refinement, he had discerned the components of the toxins in the Bloody Mary and the air. Using his knowledge, he had turned the situation around to threaten the Slaughter King.
He could only hope that the Slaughter King wouldn't trouble him again.
