Chapter 103: The Unicorn Tyrant Dragon
🕑 Added 2024-12-11 17:46:13 +0000 UTCSecond Grandpa Yang Wushuang took an entire day to absorb this soul ring. After all, it was a 76,000-year-old soul ring and a top-tier one at that.
During the process, a few soul beasts tried to attack, likely attracted by the scent of the Gale Demon Wolf's blood. However, their years were insufficient to be suitable for soul rings for the group.
Ultimately, all those soul beasts were scared off by Dugu Bo's poisonous array, ensuring safety.
When Yang Wushuang finished absorbing the soul ring, his soul power reached Rank 91, officially marking the emergence of a Titled Douluo in the Breaking Clan.
After absorbing the soul ring, Yang Wushuang looked at the now completely green corpse of the Gale Demon Wolf. What surprised him even more was that the corpse had already been dissected. Such behavior was entirely against the norms of the soul master world.
Before Yang Wushuang could ask, Yang Wudi spoke first, "Second Brother, let's move on. Now we need to find suitable soul rings for me and Podi."
Yang Wushuang, slightly annoyed, asked, "Big Brother, what about the Gale Demon Wolf's body? How was it dealt with so quickly?"
Niu Gao chuckled and said, "You should ask your clever grandson about that. Congratulations, Brother Wushuang, on acquiring a 76,000-year-old Gale Demon Wolf left leg bone."
After learning the details, Yang Wushuang realized how lucky they had been to acquire the Gale Demon Wolf's left leg soul bone. But by now, even its shadow was gone, already taken by his grandson.
Upon hearing this, Yang Wushuang was left speechless. He knew Yang Podi's personality all too well—once something good landed in his hands, there was no chance of seeing it again.
Just like last time at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Both Yang Zhentian and Yang Podi undoubtedly obtained plenty of treasures there, yet both insisted they hadn't. And occasionally, they would "coincidentally" bring out some rare items to tease him.
Although frustrated, Yang Wushuang focused on the priority at hand—continuing the search for suitable soul beasts.
However, in the following days, they didn't encounter any strong or suitable soul beasts.
One evening, while resting on a patch of open ground, they heard a loud, earth-shaking noise. The ground trembled violently.
Without hesitation, Niu Gao grabbed Yang Podi, and the group quickly hid in the forest. To their shock, they saw a massive Titan Giant Ape walking along the road.
This Titan Giant Ape was tens of meters tall, with a body like dark granite and traces of golden lines running through its skin. Its explosive muscles radiated immense power.
The five of them swallowed nervously. The Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming, was a dominant force in the Star Dou Forest, treating it as his domain. Any high-level soul beasts in the vicinity fled at the sound of his approach—an undisputed symbol of the forest's overlord.
Yang Podi couldn't help but ask his grandfather, "Grandpa, what do you think of this Titan Giant Ape? Why not make it your ninth soul ring?"
Yang Wudi simply rolled his eyes at Yang Podi, remaining silent. The group quietly slipped away from the forest.
Yang Podi felt frustrated. Why was his grandfather so wary of this Titan Giant Ape? With three Titled Douluo and Dugu Bo's poison, defeating a mere Titan Giant Ape should have been manageable.
After all, ten-thousand-year soul beasts always dropped soul bones, and those bones were incredibly valuable.
In the original story, even Bibi Dong used poison to handle both the Titan Giant Ape and the Azure Bull Python. Why wouldn't his grandfather take the risk?
The next day, the group camped near a creek, observing various soul beasts that came to drink water. Some were in the 70,000-80,000-year range but still didn't meet their standards.
That afternoon, they heard the sound of a fierce battle in the distance. The roars were so strange that they couldn't identify the type of soul beast.
The group exchanged glances and quickly rushed toward the source of the commotion.
When they arrived, they found a large section of the forest flattened. Two enormous soul beasts were locked in combat.
One was a towering gorilla over 30 meters tall, its fur gleaming gold. This was a legendary Golden Gorilla, a species far more powerful than regular Force Gorillas and nearly rivaling the Titan Giant Ape.
The Golden Gorilla was about 30 meters tall, and its age was estimated at around 80,000 years.
Its opponent was a smaller, reptilian soul beast—a dragon-type soul beast with a large single horn on its head.
This was a Unicorn Tyrant Dragon, roughly 40,000 years old, possibly less.
Surprisingly, the 40,000-year-old Unicorn Tyrant Dragon was slightly overpowering the 80,000-year-old Golden Gorilla, leaving the latter more injured.
The group was stunned by the ferocity of the battle. The forest was a battlefield of craters and destruction, a testament to the beasts' power.
Yang Podi quickly turned to his grandfather, "Grandpa, what about that Golden Gorilla? Wouldn't it make a good ninth soul ring for you?"
Yang Wudi, catching on, replied, "Podi, what do you think of that Unicorn Tyrant Dragon? It should meet your requirements, right?"
The two exchanged a knowing glance and smiled. Clearly, both were satisfied with the soul beasts.
After some discussion, they decided to let Dugu Bo poison the beasts first. This time, the poison wasn't lethal but a slow-acting, paralyzing toxin—stealthy and hard to detect.
As the battle intensified, both beasts accumulated more injuries and grew more frenzied. The poison gradually took effect, causing them to lose control of their movements.
After half a day, when the fight began to slow, Niu Gao placed Yang Podi in a hidden spot while the other four prepared for action.
The group swiftly launched their attack. Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi targeted the Golden Gorilla, while Yang Wushuang and Niu Gao focused on the Unicorn Tyrant Dragon.
Dugu Bo's Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor spread a poisonous aura across the battlefield, while Niu Gao relied on his immense defense to counter the Tyrant Dragon's overwhelming strength.
Yang Wudi and Yang Wushuang unleashed their martial soul avatars, massive projections wielding soul-breaking spears, striking the two weakened beasts.
The battle ended quickly, as both beasts were already exhausted. The Golden Gorilla was slain by Yang Wudi, while the Unicorn Tyrant Dragon lay critically wounded.
Yang Podi approached, ready to claim his prize.
Niu Gao warned, "Podi, think carefully. That beast is 40,000 years old, and its soul ring's energy will be immense."
"Don't worry, Grandpa Niu. With my body's strength, I can handle a 40,000-year-old soul ring," Yang Podi reassured.
With no further objections, the group began the absorption process.
Dugu Bo set up a poison array, and the three Titled Douluo stood guard while Yang Podi absorbed the Unicorn Tyrant Dragon's ring. Despite some pain, it was easier than when he absorbed the Iron Feather Tiger Eagle's ring.
After eight hours, Yang Podi successfully absorbed the soul ring, advancing to Rank 53. His body and soul strength had significantly improved, and his martial soul, the Soul-Breaking Spear, became even heavier and stronger.
To their astonishment, both beasts dropped soul bones: a left arm bone from the Unicorn Tyrant Dragon and a right arm bone from the Golden Gorilla.
Yang Podi, baffled by their luck, wondered if Dugu Bo's poison somehow increased the chances of soul bone drops.
