Chapter 86: The Tracker Bee
🕑 Added 2024-11-28 12:20:25 +0000 UTCAfter Yang Podi unleashed his spiritual attack, he quickly asked, "Dad, how was it? What level do you think that attack reached?"
Yang Zhentian, his father, appeared excited. "Son, that attack was impressive! Based on its strength, I'd say it's equivalent to the peak level of a Spirit King. In fact, many Spirit Emperors specializing in spiritual techniques might only achieve something similar."
"However, you must be cautious. Treat this ability as a trump card. For a battle-oriented spirit master like you to possess such a spiritual attack will attract a lot of unwanted attention. If people discover it, they might assume you're using a skill from a head spirit bone, which could make you a target."
"Moreover, judging by the strength of that attack, it's comparable to the capabilities of a 10,000-year head spirit bone. In the future, use this ability only in situations where you can surprise your opponent. It can turn the tide of battle but must remain a secret weapon."
"I understand, Dad. Does this mean I can now absorb a 10,000-year spirit ring?"
Yang Zhentian nodded. "In theory, yes. Both your physical strength and spiritual power have reached the level of an advanced Spirit King."
"Then let's track down that Ironfeather Tigerhawk."
After discussing their plans, the two rested briefly before returning to the battlefield where the Ironfeather Tigerhawk had fought the Giant Strength Vajra Bear.
Yang Zhentian retrieved a small jade box from his spirit tool, revealing a live spirit beast inside—a tracker bee.
Curious, Yang Podi asked, "Dad, when did you get a spirit tool capable of storing living creatures? And why are you carrying a tracker bee?"
With a nonchalant expression, Yang Zhentian replied, "I recently bought this at an auction. I've always wanted a spirit tool for storing living creatures, but they've been too expensive. This time, I finally decided to get one."
"This might look ordinary, but it can store up to 40 cubic meters of living beings. It cost me 1.1 million gold spirit coins."
Yang Podi was speechless. His father had always been frugal and rarely carried large amounts of gold spirit coins. Could it be that he used the 10 million gold spirit coins he took from me earlier to buy this?
He had always wanted a similar tool himself but never had the time to look for one. Yet now his father owned one, purchased with his money. This was too much!
Ignoring his son's thoughts, Yang Zhentian sprinkled some medicinal powder near the tracker bee. After letting the bee sniff it carefully, it flew off to follow the scent.
The tracker bee was about the size of an egg, a decades-old spirit beast highly valued by major forces for its exceptional scent-tracking abilities.
Yang Podi suddenly asked, "Dad, is there any way to avoid being tracked by a tracker bee or even high-level spirit masters?"
Yang Zhentian was momentarily stunned by the question. What is this kid thinking? Planning something dangerous again? After some thought, he responded, "Didn't you pick some Concealment Grass from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well? That herb can hide your aura from spirit beast trackers. Or, you can stay near objects with strong, overpowering auras."
"Your second uncle and I both carry Concealment Grass to obscure our spirit power levels from others."
"What about avoiding detection by Titled Douluos?"
"Titled Douluos? You're not planning to provoke one, are you?"
"Of course not, Dad. I was just curious."
"As long as you don't provoke them. Titled Douluos are incredibly perceptive, and even Concealment Grass won't completely hide your presence. However, you can carry objects with conflicting spirit power attributes, like the Crimson Flame Stone commonly used by our Breaking Clan. Alternatively, carrying the corpse of a powerful spirit beast can help obscure your aura."
Yang Podi silently noted all of this for future reference.
Without dwelling further on his son's odd questions, Yang Zhentian led the way, following the tracker bee at a distance.
Although the tracker bee could trace the Ironfeather Tigerhawk by its scent, it seemed intimidated by the predator's aura, slowing its flight significantly.
After a long pursuit, the tracker bee led them to a tall mountain. The medicinal fragrance here was much stronger than it had been at the battlefield, and even Yang Podi could faintly detect it.
As they approached the summit, Yang Zhentian recalled the tracker bee and signaled his son to proceed stealthily.
Before moving, they changed into green, leaf-patterned clothing designed to blend into the surroundings, reducing the likelihood of detection by the Ironfeather Tigerhawk.
"Podi, we need to be extra careful now. Eagles are highly vigilant, with incredibly sharp vision. The Ironfeather Tigerhawk combines the alertness of an eagle with the strength of a tiger. If it senses us, it might abandon its nest and flee, making it almost impossible to track again."
"Understood, Dad. I'll be careful."
As they neared the summit, Yang Zhentian suddenly stopped and pulled his son into a concealed spot.
Surveying the peak, he found no spirit beast energy fluctuations. Was the Ironfeather Tigerhawk out hunting? Or had it relocated its nest?
Tiger-type spirit beasts were known for their strong territorial instincts, often reigning as the dominant force within their domain, leaving little room for other spirit beasts.
The two remained hidden for an entire day, but the Ironfeather Tigerhawk did not return.
Growing impatient, Yang Podi asked, "Dad, could it have moved away or died?"
"That's unlikely. I wounded it heavily that day, but not fatally. Besides, the Ironfeather Tigerhawk can fly swiftly. Most spirit beasts wouldn't be able to catch it. Let's wait a bit longer."
Half a day later, a resounding tiger's roar echoed from the sky. The Ironfeather Tigerhawk had returned, its injuries almost fully healed.
As expected of a top-tier 10,000-year spirit beast, its defensive capabilities and recovery speed were astonishing.
