Chapter 85: Consuming the Autumn Water Dew
🕑 Added 2024-11-28 12:19:54 +0000 UTCIn the days that followed, Yang Zhentian and Yang Podi did not seek any more soul beasts. Instead, they found a soul beast's lair and decided to temporarily reside there. To ensure his son wouldn't be disturbed during this period, Yang Zhentian took all necessary precautions.
Yang Podi, during this time, focused entirely on cultivating his soul power and adapting to his body. After absorbing the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, its primary effects began to manifest: circulating energy through his limbs and unblocking his meridians, enhancing his physique to a nearly invincible state.
He worked to accelerate the flow of soul power through his body, striving to fully absorb the medicinal effects of the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum as quickly as possible.
As time passed, his soul power circulation grew faster, particularly in his limbs. His muscles and skin significantly strengthened, and even his limbs swelled slightly as though they had undergone intense training.
Meanwhile, some specific areas of his body became noticeably more unblocked, affecting his entire physique. According to Yang Podi's understanding, this corresponded to the so-called Eight Extraordinary Meridians.
In both martial arts and cultivation, unblocked Eight Extraordinary Meridians greatly enhance efficiency.
Unknowingly, sixteen days passed. Yang Podi felt his physical capabilities had reached a peak, with no further improvement possible in the short term. The Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum's effects had fully integrated into his body, providing significant enhancements to his physical strength. However, improvements to his innate qualities would take longer to manifest.
After his father tested his body using soul skills, it was confirmed that Yang Podi's body could now withstand the pressure of a peak Soul King. Although his soul power was only at Rank 40, his physical endurance was already comparable to Rank 60 or higher.
Yang Podi then took out a seemingly ordinary herb. The herb was entirely emerald green, but its unique feature was the three snow-white leaves in the center, each holding a few drops of dew-like liquid resembling morning dew.
This herb was none other than the Autumn Water Dew. According to the original records, consuming it could grant the ability to train one's eyesight to perceive extraordinary details and gain a deeper spiritual connection.
The so-called enhancement of one's vision and perception meant strengthening spiritual power, with the effects primarily concentrated in the eyes. As the saying goes, "The eyes are the windows to the soul." Many spiritual-type soul masters also focus their abilities through their eyes.
The Autumn Water Dew was said to be the only herb in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well capable of enhancing spiritual power. In some ways, it was more valuable than other herbs. In the era of Douluo Dalu, there were no methods to cultivate spiritual power. The only means to enhance it were head soul bones or absorbing the soul rings of spiritual-type soul beasts.
Yang Podi lacked Tang San's Purple Demon Eye technique to train spiritual power, a powerful head soul bone, or the inclination to absorb spiritual-type soul rings. Thus, the Autumn Water Dew became his sole option.
Yang Podi placed the center of the Autumn Water Dew into his mouth, gently sucking the dew droplets. Once the clear liquid was fully consumed, the entire herb withered in his hands, its essence completely absorbed.
As the Autumn Water Dew entered his body, Yang Podi experienced strange changes, primarily in his head and eyes. His entire being seemed to enter a state of extraordinary clarity, resembling enlightenment, with an unprecedented sense of mental tranquility.
This sensation only lasted three hours.
When it ended, Yang Podi opened his eyes, revealing that they had turned completely silver, including his irises, sclera, and even the skin around his eyes.
Looking around, Yang Podi found his surroundings remarkably clear. He could sense even the faint fluctuations of soul power in the air. He could see the textures and veins of plants and animals, as if perceiving the essence of things.
Peering into his spiritual sea, he saw the image of a giant holding the Breaking Soul Spear. However, the giant's eyes had also turned pure silver. The rest of its body had not changed much, remaining only faintly tinged with silver.
Yang Podi thought to himself, This is going to be tricky. My Body Martial Soul's secondary awakening only affected my eyes. Completing the full secondary awakening might be even more challenging. Still, at least my martial soul and body haven't shown any signs of deformity.
Looking closely at his Body Martial Soul, he noticed that his eyes and body were slightly mismatched in strength. Perhaps thanks to the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, his entire martial soul had become significantly stronger. Its limbs and body had grown much sturdier. Fortunately, consuming the Chrysanthemum in advance prevented an even greater disparity.
Yang Zhentian watched his son anxiously until Yang Podi fully absorbed the herb, finally breathing a sigh of relief. After all, consuming two immortal herbs simultaneously was unpredictable.
"Podi, how do you feel now?"
"Dad, I feel great! Everything seems much clearer, and my thoughts are faster. I can also sense the soul power around me more acutely. Do you have a way to test my spiritual strength?"
Yang Zhentian shook his head. "I'm not a spiritual-type soul master, so I can't accurately measure spiritual power. But judging from the fluctuations I sensed earlier, your spiritual power should already surpass that of a Soul King."
"Dad, what if I used my spiritual power to attack you? Could you gauge its actual strength?"
"Well, we could try, but spiritual attacks and control are very tricky. A single mistake could backfire and harm you."
Hearing this, Yang Zhentian couldn't help but silently complain: This kid just got a boost in spiritual power and already wants to attack me. Is he still upset about the money I took last time?
After some discussion, they agreed to let Yang Zhentian test Yang Podi's spiritual attack.
"Are you ready, Dad?"
"Don't worry about me. A mere Soul King-level attack is nothing to me. I'm a high-level Soul Douluo, after all."
Under normal circumstances, consuming the Autumn Water Dew wouldn't enable spiritual attacks. However, Yang Podi was an exception due to his previous consumption of the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass, which gave him profound insights into sword and metal properties.
Closing his eyes, Yang Podi concentrated all his spiritual power. His entire being felt like a Breaking Soul Spear, achieving a state akin to unity between man and spear—or perhaps man and sword.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes, and two beams of silver light shot out like spear tips. Unlike ordinary spear strikes, these appeared intangible and ethereal, clearly manifestations of spiritual power.
Yang Zhentian was startled but quickly steadied himself. The beams approached him but seemed to collide with an invisible wall, unable to penetrate further, eventually dissipating.
It was as if the attack had never happened. Both the attack and the defense were intangible, something only advanced soul masters could perceive.
