Chapter 80: The Plan
🕑 Added 2024-11-28 12:16:35 +0000 UTCAfter Ye Lingling left, Yang Podi began tidying up his dormitory.
He hadn't noticed it before, but now the room looked utterly chaotic. Pieces of clothing were scattered everywhere, mostly belonging to the two of them, and the bathroom faucet was still running.
Of course, he also found traces of blood, most likely from Ye Lingling.
Seeing this, Yang Podi couldn't help but sigh, "This is troublesome. She's such a good girl; I'll need to take responsibility somehow."
As for Ye Lingling's Nine Heart Begonia Soul defect, Yang Podi didn't mind much. In the original story, after Ning Rongrong consumed the immortal herb Qiluo Tulip, her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda evolved into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. This showed that the Qiluo Tulip could remedy defects in a Soul.
Furthermore, the Qiluo Tulip, known as the king of immortal herbs, could absorb the essence of heaven and earth, the sun and moon, and even identify the characteristics of all heavenly treasures and command all creatures.
The flaw of the Nine Heart Begonia was minor by comparison. Besides, Yang Podi had a backup plan: his father still possessed a Lovesick Heartbroken Red, a divine-grade immortal herb that could regenerate flesh and bones. It should be highly effective for the Nine Heart Begonia Soul.
For now, however, Yang Podi had no intention of bringing out such immortal herbs, at least not until after the Soul Master Tournament. By then, it would be more convenient for both of them. Otherwise, a sudden surge in Soul Power might raise suspicion and create unnecessary trouble.
Yang Podi never fully trusted the Strength Clan or the Speed Clan. If either of them leaked the news to Tang San and Tang Hao got involved, things would get tricky.
Over the next few days, Yang Podi didn't rush to hunt a Soul Ring. Instead, he focused on regular training. He felt that after absorbing the whale glue, his physical fitness had greatly improved, especially in terms of strength and endurance. Choosing to absorb whale glue at Rank 40 had proven to be the right decision, despite some unexpected side effects.
During this period, Ye Lingling took leave from training, leaving Yang Podi puzzled.
Whenever he went to her dormitory to find her, Ye Lingling would avoid him, and Dugu Yan's gaze toward him became rather strange, as if she were looking at a heartless man.
Days passed without Yang Podi seeing Ye Lingling, so he reluctantly left Heaven Dou Royal Academy to prepare for Soul Ring hunting.
After Yang Podi left, Dugu Yan comforted Ye Lingling, "Lingling, why are you doing this? Podi is a good person, and he's incredibly hardworking. He'll definitely stay by your side in the future."
Ye Lingling shook her head expressionlessly, "I know the captain is a good person. But you should also know the fate of us Nine Heart Begonia descendants. For the sake of both of us, it's better if we stay apart. Otherwise, I'll only end up hurting him."
Dugu Yan sighed after hearing this. Her own Green Phosphorus Snake Soul had its share of issues as well.
Since Yang Podi became famous, he hadn't ventured outside Heaven Dou Royal Academy alone, always accompanied by teachers. This time, he directly contacted his father to come pick him up.
Upon their return to the Breaking Clan, his father, Yang Zhentian, asked him seriously, "What kind of Soul Ring are you aiming for this time?"
After a moment of thought, Yang Podi replied, "Based on Soul Ring limits, I should be able to absorb Soul Beasts under 10,000 years old. The higher the age, the better. I also want a strength-type Soul Beast. If I could find a top-tier one, that'd be ideal—something like a Golden Crocodile King."
Yang Zhentian couldn't help but laugh, "Son, aren't you dreaming a bit too big? Golden Crocodile Kings are rare and nearly impossible to come by. How many people have actually seen one?"
"As for under 10,000 years, have you considered whether your body can even handle it?"
Yang Podi confidently replied, "Dad, don't worry. I've already consumed whale glue, so my physical strength can absolutely handle the energy of a Soul Ring from a 10,000-year Soul Beast. If it weren't for the risk of spiritual shock, I'd even dare to absorb one under 15,000 years."
After carefully examining his son's body and testing his limits, Yang Zhentian confirmed that Yang Podi's physical strength was indeed on par with that of a high-level Soul King. Absorbing a Soul Ring under 10,000 years old shouldn't be an issue.
Yang Podi then asked, "Dad, what about you, Grandpa, and my uncles? What are your current Soul Power levels?"
Yang Zhentian paused before answering, "Your grandfather has reached Rank 88, and your second uncle and I are both at Rank 87. Your maternal grandfather is already Rank 89. At this rate, your grandfather will likely reach Rank 90 in a year, while your maternal grandfather might need two years. Your uncle and I could reach Titled Douluo within three years."
Yang Podi frowned. "Dad, if you, Grandpa, and the others all break through to Titled Douluo, won't that draw too much attention and potentially bring trouble to our clan?"
Yang Zhentian laughed, "What are you thinking, son? We've already taken precautions. For the past two years, your uncle and I have barely made public appearances, and we haven't used our full strength. No one outside the family knows our Soul Power levels."
"As for acquiring Soul Rings, we've already planned it carefully. Once your grandfather and maternal grandfather become Titled Douluo, things will become simpler. Don't worry—aside from them, no one will know our levels."
Hearing this, Yang Podi sighed in relief. Suddenly having three Titled Douluo emerge would undoubtedly make their clan a target.
"Dad, where are we hunting for my Soul Ring this time? The Sunset Forest or the Star Dou Forest?"
"Son, what are you thinking? Of course, we're going to the Sunset Forest. It has plenty of Soul Beasts suitable for you."
Yang Podi groaned, "But the Sunset Forest doesn't have many powerful Soul Beasts. Last time, it took us ages to find one. Why not go to the Star Dou Forest this time?"
Yang Zhentian scolded him with a laugh, "You keep talking about the Star Dou Forest! That place is far too dangerous. Low-level Soul Masters should avoid it."
"Alright, Dad. If we can't find anything suitable in the Sunset Forest, we'll head to the Star Dou Forest."
"Fine," Yang Zhentian replied with a smile, "but let's hope we don't need to."
