Chapter 149:The End of the Promotional Tournament
🕑 Added 2025-01-03 17:00:05 +0000 UTCOver the next few days of competition, although Yang Podi adjusted the order of Dugu Yan and Niu Meng's appearances, even though Niu Meng participated in more battles, he still couldn't break through further and remained at rank 45.
Yang Podi himself had already informed Dugu Bo to go to the Sunset Forest as soon as possible to find suitable spirit rings for Dugu Yan and Yang Tianyue. Upon receiving the news, Yang Zhentian, Yang Podi's father, also headed to the Sunset Forest. Considering the forest's proximity—only about 100 kilometers away—the involvement of two Titled Douluo meant they could easily capture spirit beasts alive without any difficulty.
After 15 days of intense competition, the promotion tournament officially came to an end. The Heaven Dou Second Team ranked first, the Heaven Dou First Team ranked second once again, and the Godwind Academy came in third.
As for individual performance rankings, the top three were Tang San, Feng Xiaotian, and Yu Tianxin. These three players frequently achieved feats of one-versus-four, one-versus-five, or even one-versus-six, delivering remarkable individual performances.
Although Yu Tianheng possessed excellent combat strength, Tang San was clearly the favored one in the Heaven Dou First Team under Yu Xiaogang's guidance. Even the tactics for the Heaven Dou First Team were arranged by Tang San, resulting in Yu Tianheng having fewer appearances. As a result, his individual victory record was even lower than that of Yu Tianxin, a fellow member of his clan.
After the promotion tournament, Emperor Xue Ye gave a generous speech, especially praising the top three teams. The Heaven Dou Royal Academy appeared stronger than ever, managing to claim the top two spots in the promotion tournament.
With the promotion tournament over, there were three days of rest before a large group would travel to Spirit City to participate in the final championship.
This time, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe himself led the group, which included participating team members, their instructors, and five hundred guards.
Right after the tournament ended, Dugu Bo and Yang Zhentian took Dugu Yan and Yang Tianyue out of the group to help them obtain spirit rings. They had already decided on their targets for the rings.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team returned to the Heaven Dou Royal Academy to rest for three days before setting off together.
Within just two days, Dugu Yan and Yang Tianyue returned to the group with smiles on their faces, clearly satisfied with the spirit rings they had obtained. Especially Yang Tianyue, who was the team's little darling, and now walked with an air of confidence that amused Yang Podi to no end.
Back at the academy, two major events occurred.
Firstly, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe paid a visit in person, and he came alone.
When Yang Podi arrived at the Academic Committee building, the two sat down, and Xue Qinghe spoke with a smile:
"Congratulations, Yang Podi. The Heaven Dou Second Team you trained has achieved first place in both the qualifiers and the promotion tournament. Your training methods have proven highly effective, and I believe they will perform exceptionally well in the championship."
Yang Podi simply smiled and replied, "Thank you for your praise, Your Highness. It was merely part of our agreement. I am content as long as you are satisfied with the results."
Xue Qinghe seemed genuinely pleased.
"With the current strength of the Heaven Dou Second Team, there's a real possibility they could win the championship."
Yang Podi shook his head.
"For ordinary opponents, I wouldn't be concerned. However, there's one person I am worried about."
Xue Qinghe appeared puzzled.
"With the strength of your Second Team, plus your participation in the finals, you should have a significant chance even against Spirit Hall's Golden Generation."
Yang Podi looked at Xue Qinghe with a faint smile.
"It's not the so-called Golden Generation that concerns me but someone else."
"Who are you worried about?"
After a moment of thought, Yang Podi replied,
"This matter is quite significant, and I fear that revealing it might invite trouble."
Xue Qinghe confidently reassured him.
"Yang Podi, you need not worry. Within the borders of the Heaven Dou Empire, no harm will come to you."
Yang Podi sighed before speaking.
"One year ago, in the Star Dou Forest, I saw a stunningly beautiful blonde woman accompanied by two Titled Douluo while hunting for a spirit ring. She looked about twenty years old, definitely no more than twenty-five. The spirit ring she acquired was from a twenty-thousand-year-old Blazing Flame Lion King, suggesting she was already at the Spirit Emperor level. Spirit Hall's secret possession of a Spirit Emperor-level expert indicates they are determined to win the championship."
Xue Qinghe quickly asked,
"Do you have any other impressions of this woman? Are you sure she's from Spirit Hall?"
Yang Podi shook his head.
"How many Titled Douluo would go out of their way to help someone hunt for a spirit ring? Besides Spirit Hall, who else could afford such a luxury? As for the woman, apart from her beauty and impressive figure, she didn't leave any other strong impressions."
Xue Qinghe: "..."
After a brief silence, Xue Qinghe asked,
"Have you told anyone else about this woman?"
Yang Podi shook his head.
"This matter is of great importance. The only people present were members of my Breaking Clan. They will keep this information strictly confidential. If it weren't for my absolute trust in Your Highness, I wouldn't have shared this either."
"By the way, Your Highness, has there been any confirmation regarding the matter of the Almo Mountains?"
Xue Qinghe nodded.
"Given the outstanding performance of the Heaven Dou Second Team in both the qualifiers and the promotion tournament, you've already been granted the title of viscount. My father has also approved your request regarding the Almo Mountains."
"Then I must thank Your Highness."
After further discussion, Xue Qinghe returned to the Crown Prince's residence. Upon arriving at his study, a figure emerged from the shadows—it was the Serpent lance Douluo.
The Serpent lance Douluo bowed.
"Young Master, Her Holiness the Pope has sent word requesting your participation in the finals of the Spirit Master Tournament. The Heaven Dou Second Team and First Team have exceeded everyone's expectations, and the Star Luo Empire's teams are also formidable. This concerns the ownership of three top-tier spirit bones and the reputation of Spirit Hall."
Xue Qinghe's face turned icy.
"Tell that woman to handle the matter herself. She caused this situation, and it's her responsibility to resolve it."
Recalling Yang Podi's words, Xue Qinghe added,
"Yang Podi is mine, and I have plans for the Breaking Clan. That woman is not allowed to target them."
The Serpent lance Douluo nodded cautiously, not daring to utter another word. Both women were forces he couldn't afford to offend.
Upon returning to his dormitory, Yang Podi was surprised to find Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Ning Rongrong waiting to meet him.
Yang Podi welcomed them in and asked Ning Fengzhi,
"Ning Sect Master, it's an honor to have you visit. May I ask the purpose of your visit?"
Ning Fengzhi, appearing somewhat anxious, asked,
"I heard that the self-created spirit ability used by Ye Lingling was devised by you. Is that true?"
Yang Podi nodded.
"Lingling is a plant-type Spirit Master with limited offensive abilities. I specifically created this self-created ability for her self-defense."
Hearing this, Ning Fengzhi continued,
"This self-created ability is highly beneficial to the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan. Would you be willing to share it? Feel free to name your terms."
Yang Podi shook his head.
"You should be clearer than anyone else about what I want."
Ning Fengzhi fell silent.
At this stage, the Breaking Clan wanted peace and separation from the major factions, including complete dissociation from the Clear Sky Clan. This was essential to avoid future conflicts with the Clear Sky Clan, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, and even the Heaven Dou Empire. The Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan, being allied with these factions, posed a potential threat to the Breaking Clan.
Yang Podi bluntly pointed out,
"Take, for example, the Breaking Clan's recent issues. If Tang Hao had acted, wouldn't your Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan have intervened due to your alliance?"
After much deliberation, Ning Fengzhi finally said,
"I can promise not to interfere in matters between the Breaking Clan and the Clear Sky Clan, or any other faction, including conflicts involving Tang San and Yu Xiaogang. Will that suffice?"
Yang Podi nodded.
"Good. Then have Miss Rongrong come to the Breaking Clan to study. With her talent and aptitude, she should learn quickly."
Both Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo were visibly alarmed.
"Are you planning to take Rongrong as a hostage?"
Yang Podi smiled faintly.
"It's not about hostages. If I'm to teach your clan's members, I can't possibly go to the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan myself, can I?"
Ning Fengzhi grimly asked,
"Your fief is the Almo Mountains. Do you expect Rongrong to move there?"
"That depends on her learning progress. My teaching abilities are well-regarded, and under my guidance, Miss Rongrong should excel and grow stronger quickly."
To everyone's surprise, Ning Rongrong interjected,
"Father, Grandpa Sword, let me go to the Breaking Clan. With my talent, I'll learn quickly and return in no time."
Turning to Yang Podi, she added,
"Yang Podi, I'm very talented. You mustn't hold back when teaching me!"
Yang Podi silently thought to himself,
"When I taught Lingling, most of the time, it was in private settings. This will be quite different. If your father and grandfathers find out, they'll kill me."
Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo didn't immediately agree, leaving with Ning Rongrong.
