Chapter 48: Breakthrough to Level 30
🕑 Added 2024-10-10 21:20:00 +0000 UTCThat night, Yang Podi was meditating alone in his room.
Suddenly, Yang Podi opened his eyes: "It worked; I finally reached level 30."
Since obtaining his soul ring at eight and a half years old and reaching level 22, after nearly three years of hard training, he had finally reached level 30. The Nine Leaf Sword Grass seemed to have an unexpected effect, making it easier to break through when encountering a bottleneck.
In terms of improvement speed, he was close to leveling up nearly three levels each year, not worse than those with innate full soul power, and possibly even faster.
Yang Podi reflected for a moment. Calculating the time, he reached level 30 at eleven and a half years old, while in the original story, Tang San, who was the fastest to reach level 30, was just twelve years old when he joined Shrek Academy.
Thinking about this made him feel that Tang San's talent was indeed terrifying, or that the Mysterious Heaven Skill was truly remarkable. Despite his arduous efforts and multiple breakthroughs beyond the age limit to absorb soul rings, he was only barely faster than Tang San. If one considered Tang San's later exploits, he might not even compare. After all, Tang San graduated from Shrek Academy and gained 17 levels in just five years, averaging over three levels per year; this speed at the Soul King stage was somewhat frightening.
The next morning, Yang Podi found his parents and said, "Dad, Mom, I've reached level 30 in soul power."
Both were stunned upon hearing this. Breaking through to Soul Master at eleven and a half years old seemed to set a record; no one had ever achieved this before the age of twelve.
"Son, that's impressive. To break through to Soul Master so quickly! Let's go get your soul ring tomorrow," his father said.
"Have you thought about what kind of soul ring you want this time? How many years of age?"
After pondering for a moment, Yang Podi asked, "Dad, is there a power-type soul beast that can obtain a locking soul skill?"
Upon hearing this, his parents were curious. "Son, why do you have such a strange idea? Normally, locking soul skills come from mental-type soul beasts or very few agile-type soul beasts. They typically don't appear in power-type soul beasts."
"Isn't there even one?"
"Well, not completely. I don't know if you've heard of the Iron Feather Tiger Eagle?"
"Iron Feather Tiger Eagle? I think I've seen that before, but aren't bird-type soul beasts usually agile-type?"
"Bird-type soul beasts generally excel in speed, but the Iron Feather Tiger Eagle is an exception. It's much larger than normal eagle-type soul beasts, extremely fast, and is actually a power-type soul beast. Its feathers are as hard as metal, very strong, and it has great strength. Eagle-type soul beasts usually lock onto their prey first to obtain food, which is why a small portion can obtain locking soul skills."
"However, the Iron Feather Tiger Eagle is incredibly difficult to catch. It has formidable strength, speed, and defense. Some even analyze it as a mutated tiger."
"Where can we find the Iron Feather Tiger Eagle?"
"Well, I'm not sure. There should be some in the Star Dou Forest, but they're quite rare. Very few people hunt this type of soul beast specifically."
"Well then, Dad, shall we go to the Sunset Forest this time?"
"The Sunset Forest is closer, only a few dozen kilometers away, and there are indeed many soul beasts there. You should have seen quite a few last time."
Thus, they decided to go to the Sunset Forest the next day to obtain the third soul ring.
Yang Podi's younger sister, Yang Tianyue, was a bit dissatisfied and piped up, "Brother, don't worry. I will definitely surpass you and become the fastest to break through to Soul Master."
Yang Podi couldn't help but roll his eyes internally: What is going on? I'm being looked down upon by a six-year-old.
Yang Pingan looked enviously at his older brother. His brother was already at level 30, while he was only at level 24. The gap was becoming wider, and he knew he had to work harder.
Based on Yang Podi's estimates, his younger brother Yang Pingan would probably reach about level 27 by the age of twelve, not worse than the Shrek Seven Monsters.
As for their grandfathers, although they were delighted, they didn't say much. Yang Zhentian was already a Soul Douluo, and helping his grandson obtain a soul ring was easy. Both had recently been focused on Yang Tianyue, practically becoming granddaughters' servants.
Didn't this just confirm the saying from his past life: Daughters are little lovers in their father's eyes, and now granddaughters have become little lovers in their grandfathers' eyes?
The next morning, the two set off in a horse-drawn carriage from the Yang Clan toward the Sunset Forest. On the carriage, Yang Zhentian finally spoke, "Son, what age of soul ring are you aiming for this time?"
"About 4,000 years. I estimate I can absorb a soul ring around that age. When I absorbed my second soul ring, which was nearly 1,000 years old, I felt my body could still bear it. At that time, my actual capacity should be able to handle a soul ring around 1,200 years old."
"The age of the third soul ring will not affect its color, so you can absorb it with confidence."
"Son, you need to think carefully. Many soul masters' fourth soul rings are only 4,000 years old. I'm worried that your body might not be able to handle it, and that would be troublesome."
"Dad, if you don't believe me, you can test my body strength. I've been training hard for three years and taking medicinal baths every day. There won't be any issues."
Of course, the most important point that Yang Podi didn't mention was that he had a second martial soul—his physical martial soul. The greatest advantage of the physical martial soul was that it significantly enhanced his physical attributes after absorbing a soul ring, allowing him to absorb soul rings beyond his level, which was why he dared to absorb a 4,000-year soul ring.
As for his future fourth soul ring, Yang Podi had never thought about obtaining a 10,000-year fourth ring. Although he had a physical martial soul, even after tempering his body with ice and fire, he could probably withstand it, but he had no confidence in resisting mental shocks.
In the original story, Tang San became strong due to cultivating the Purple Demon Eye from a young age and using the Wangchuan Autumn Water Dew to evolve it. Yang Podi had no methods for cultivating mental strength. Even though his mental strength was stronger than others due to his physical martial soul, he couldn't reach that level unless he obtained a high-grade head soul bone. He completely disregarded low-grade ones.
Yang Zhentian carefully checked his son's body and couldn't help but exclaim in amazement: "Son, I'm beginning to suspect you might be a monster. Your physical quality at such a young age is so strong; all those years of effort weren't wasted."
"Do you have any specific plans regarding soul beasts?"
"Dad, let's discuss the specifics of the soul beast choice once we reach the Sunset Forest. Just considering the age and type is already quite difficult. This time, I want to focus on power-type soul beasts as before. The stronger and rarer, the better. If we can find a rare dragon-type soul beast, that would be even better. Ideally, it would be a soul beast with unrivaled strength at the same level."
