Chapter 40: Nine-Leaf Sword Grass
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 05:13:12 +0000 UTC"Dad, you should take the immortal herb first. The Nine-Piece Dragon Grass is the best among spirit herbs and possesses dragon attributes. It could even evolve your martial soul and help you break through to Title Douluo level."
"Alright, then I'll take it first."
Yang Zhen Tian said, and without hesitation, he sat down and began to take out the Nine-Piece Dragon Grass. The entire stem was about a foot long, and the top reached a foot and a half. Of course, the leaves had already been divided between the two of them, with each getting several dozen.
The Nine-Piece Dragon Grass is a top-grade spirit herb, said to be born from bathing in dragon's blood. Ordinary soul masters who consume it can greatly enhance their physique and even strengthen their bloodlines, inheriting some of the dragon clan's blood. Some even have their martial souls undergo mutations. For Yang Zhen Tian, who was at Soul Sage level, it was extremely suitable. It could even be called a top-tier immortal herb.
Yang Zhen Tian's expression became serious as he swallowed the Nine-Piece Dragon Grass in mouthfuls. After a short while, he had consumed the entire herb.
His aura gradually began to rise, and his soul power started to increase. All his meridians seemed to be undergoing changes, and a unique energy was radiating from his body; even his skin was undergoing a transformation.
It took a full five hours for him to completely absorb the Nine-Piece Dragon Grass.
At this point, Yang Zhen Tian's aura was incredibly powerful. He appeared as though he had been tempered, his body looking somewhat translucent. Yang Po Di couldn't help but wonder: could it be that the Nine-Piece Dragon Grass truly was born from bathing in dragon's blood? His father seemed to carry a hint of dragon attributes.
"How do you feel, Dad?"
Yang Zhen Tian suppressed the excitement within him. "I feel excellent. I've already broken through to level 80, and I seem to have endless strength. My Breaking Soul Spear also seems to be on the verge of evolving. It's a bit of a pity; if I had used the Nine-Piece Dragon Grass before reaching Soul King, my martial soul would definitely have evolved."
"Dad, this Nine-Piece Dragon Grass is indeed remarkable. Since we're in the Sunset Forest, why don't we directly hunt for a soul ring and head home?"
Hearing this, Yang Zhen Tian shook his head. "Given my current physical condition, I could probably absorb a soul ring of around 70,000 to 80,000 years. I can't fight that level of soul beast alone; I'll need your grandfathers to help me."
Yang Po Di couldn't help but cast a disdainful glance at his father. Tang San had defeated a 100,000-year soul beast at level 80, yet his father at the same level couldn't handle even an 80,000-year soul beast. The difference was quite significant. Thankfully, he hadn't followed the family's cultivation path.
"Have you decided to consume the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass? You should know that it's not ordinary, especially when consuming the ninth leaf; it could be quite dangerous."
"Don't worry, Dad, I'll be fine. If something goes wrong, you'll be right here beside me, right?"
The nine leaves of the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass were as sharp as swords. Legend has it that they could easily cut through anything.
Unlike other plants that grow in clusters with minimal spacing, the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass had a one-meter radius around it devoid of any other vegetation, making it appear rather lonely.
This was because the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass inherently possessed a formless metallic energy that could strangle surrounding plants. Especially upon reaching the ninth leaf, the sword energy would reach its peak, making it impossible for most people to approach.
Although Yang Po Di had already reached the great soul master level, he still couldn't pick it alone.
Yang Zhen Tian infused his soul power into his hands, holding a jade knife in his right hand. The Nine-Leaf Sword Grass was a top-grade metal attribute herb, and it could not be touched by any iron tools.
After feeling around for a while, Yang Zhen Tian finally managed to harvest the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass.
"Son, quickly absorb it. Remember to stay safe and know your limits."
Yang Po Di nodded in response and began to look at the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass in his hands. Now that it had been harvested, it no longer emanated such a sharp aura.
Consuming the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass was straightforward; he would start from the bottom and gradually consume its nine sword-shaped leaves. However, the process would be quite painful and could even be dangerous.
Upon swallowing the first leaf, it felt like an invisible sword energy entered his body, beginning to slice at his skin, causing blood to seep from his skin.
An hour later, his skin had completely adapted to the cutting sensation, and he finished absorbing the first leaf.
Yang Po Di began to absorb the second leaf. At this point, it felt like countless tiny sword energies were slicing through his blood, causing his entire bloodstream to boil.
Another hour passed, and his boiling blood gradually calmed down, completing the absorption of the second leaf.
Next came the third leaf, which affected all the muscles in his body.
Then it progressed to his bones, organs, bone marrow, heart, and brain.
As the absorption of each leaf progressed, the time taken became longer.
When absorbing the eighth leaf, his entire brain felt like it was engulfed in sword light, and both his brain and eyes endured immense pain. Blood trickled from his seven orifices, especially around his eyes, which were nearly covered in blood.
The absorption of the eighth leaf took a full five hours. After finishing, his eyes seemed to radiate a glimmer of sword light, and he appeared sharper and more formidable.
As Yang Po Di carefully took the ninth leaf, he heard his father's voice: "Son, don't force yourself. The absorption of this last leaf may be extremely challenging. There's no need to push it right now."
Ignoring his father's words, Yang Po Di directly placed the final leaf into his mouth. He had come this far; he couldn't give up now!
As soon as the ninth leaf entered, Yang Po Di's entire body felt as if it were submerged in a sea of swords. Countless sword lights pierced his body, and the pain he had experienced before seemed to return, but this time the sword light was even more dangerous and intense.
It was clear that the ninth leaf affected his soul.
Yang Po Di gritted his teeth, carefully feeling each sword light's impact on his body, experiencing every moment of pain. He felt as if he were being honed by countless sword lights, gradually becoming sharper and more resilient, as if he were a sword or a spear.
The absorption of the last leaf took a full day.
After a day, Yang Po Di felt as if his entire body had become a sword, an extraordinary sword, a supreme spear. The effects of the nine leaves merged together, achieving a perfect unity.
When Yang Po Di opened his eyes, it seemed as if a sword light shot forth from his eyes, or rather a spear light, striking the surrounding rock wall, leaving a smooth gash.
"I did it, Dad! I finally succeeded in absorbing it!"
Yang Zhen Tian was equally excited, realizing that his son had successfully absorbed the Nine-Leaf Sword Grass. His future was boundless.
"Son, how do you feel now?"
Yang Po Di ignored his father's question and summoned his martial soul, the Breaking Soul Spear, directly thrusting it forward. A spear light shot toward the rock wall, creating a large hole.
Next, he swung the Breaking Soul Spear vigorously, and a sword-like energy shot out from the spear tip, creating a mirror-smooth cut on the rock wall. He continued this several times, leaving the wall riddled with dents and marks.
Yang Po Di kept swinging the Breaking Soul Spear but soon felt a wave of fatigue, causing his body to lean forward.
Seeing this, Yang Zhen Tian quickly flew to his son's side and caught him before he fell.
"Dad, what's happening to me? Why do I feel so fatigued?"
Yang Zhen Tian shook his head. "Son, you're still at the great soul master level. Your soul power and spiritual power are relatively low, so you can't use it too many times. You should eat this Dragon Grass Leaf to recover, and take your time with your training later."
Yang Po Di nodded, taking the Dragon Grass Leaf from his father's hand and starting to recover.
