Chapter 76: Daily Training
🕑 Added 2024-11-11 09:57:57 +0000 UTCSince his last cross-level battle, Yang Podi hadn't returned to the Great Spirit Arena. He felt that there wasn't much challenge there, even against Spirit Ancestors, as they posed no real pressure. His fight with the Diamond Mammoth Spirit user, for example, had been easy. While the mammoth's defense was strong, it had a glaring weakness: its slow speed, making it little more than a large target.
Such opponents didn't pressure Yang Podi as much as his weighted obstacle course training.
Dugu Yan finally broke through to level 30 and went with her grandfather to hunt for a spirit ring, becoming the second Spirit Elder on the team. Other teammates, seeing Yang Podi's immense strength, couldn't help but feel intimidated, especially since he had told them he would hold regular combat evaluations for everyone.
For now, only Yang Ping'an and Dugu Yan could enter the Great Spirit Arena. Ye Lingling, however, found herself overpowered when fighting alongside anyone but Yang Podi.
The days passed uneventfully. Dugu Yan, excited about reaching Spirit Elder level, soon lost her pride after a string of defeats in the Great Spirit Arena, accompanied by Teacher Li Xiang and Yang Ping'an.
That afternoon, Xue Qinghe arrived at the Heaven Dou Royal Academy along with Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Ning Rongrong.
In the Education Committee building, Xue Qinghe asked, "What is Yang Podi up to lately? He hasn't been seen in the Great Spirit Arena."
Dream Machine replied, "Your Highness, recently, only two of Yang Podi's team members frequently go to the arena. The others are focused on daily training."
"He already has a full team for the next Spirit Master Tournament?"
"Yes, the team now has seven members."
"Who are they? What strength do they have for Yang Podi to consider them?"
Dream Machine glanced at Ning Fengzhi and his group before responding, "The team consists of Yang Podi and Yang Ping'an from the Breaking Clan, Dugu Yan, granddaughter of Dugu Bo; Ye Lingling of the Nine Heart Begonia; Tai Long of the Strength Clan; Niu Meng of the Defense Clan; and Bai Xiaofei of the Agility Clan."
"What is their strength level?"
"Dugu Yan recently reached level 31, Yang Ping'an is level 28, Ye Lingling level 26, Niu Meng level 23, and both Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei are level 22."
Xue Qinghe pondered, "A lineup with strong attack, agility, support, and control. Though some of their power levels are a bit low."
It was clear to those present that these members were close to Yang Podi, either through family or friendship, particularly the single-attribute clans. Without these connections, Yang Podi likely wouldn't consider them.
"What are the seven of them doing now? Meditating in mimicry environments?"
"They train every afternoon in Training Field 3," Dream Machine replied. Li Xiang regularly reported the team's training schedule to the Education Committee.
Xue Qinghe's curiosity was piqued. "They're not spending most of their time meditating? Let's see their training progress."
Dream Machine hesitated briefly, then nodded, guiding them to Training Field 3.
According to academy rules, training sessions were off-limits to observers, especially outsiders. However, since the Crown Prince was here, and the team had received supplies approved by him, the rules were bent. Upon reaching Training Field 3, everyone was taken aback.
The team was running with heavy weights, continuously leaping over obstacles on a field that had been transformed with pits and walls, looking more like rugged terrain than a training ground. Teacher Li Xiang and another female teacher were supervising.
Knowing the training could lead to exhaustion, which required post-session medicinal baths, the Committee had arranged for a female healing spirit master to assist, given the team included girls from prestigious families. The healer was Teacher Anya, a level-51 spirit master with the Healing Scepter Spirit.
When Li Xiang noticed the arrival of the Education Committee and the Crown Prince, he stepped forward to greet them. Anya continued observing.
Curious, Xue Qinghe asked, "Teacher Li Xiang, do they train like this every afternoon? What is their exact regimen?"
With a nod from Dream Machine, Li Xiang explained, "Their afternoon training focuses on weighted obstacle runs. Each carries around 30 kilograms; Yang Podi usually runs about 60 kilometers, while the others cover around 15 kilometers, pushing until complete exhaustion."
"Every day? Can they handle it?"
"Yes, Your Highness, they've trained like this for over three months, resting one day every seven days and five days every three months."
Hearing this, Xue Qinghe swallowed. Such intensity would be unbearable for most people, and he doubted he could withstand it himself.
Ning Fengzhi, who had once considered sending his daughter Ning Rongrong to the academy, immediately dismissed the idea. With Yang Podi's training methods, who knew what his beloved daughter would go through.
Yang Podi's formidable strength, initially seen as natural talent, now appeared to stem from relentless, grueling discipline.
Curious, Ning Rongrong asked, "Father, aren't spirit masters supposed to focus mainly on meditation? Why do they train like this?"
"Rongrong, for battle spirit masters, only a strong body enables greater combat power." Ning Fengzhi's knowledge of spirit masters was extensive; after all, he was known as the continent's top auxiliary spirit master.
Sword Douluo observed the training and nodded in approval. "It's a beneficial regimen, effective in strengthening their bodies."
As a powerful Douluo, he could see the advantages of such training at a glance.
Seeing Xue Qinghe's puzzled look, Sword Douluo elaborated, "Weighted, high-intensity training refines every part of the body, improving strength, speed, and agility over time. This method of training is impressive."
