Chapter 70: Two-on-Two Soul Battle
🕑 Added 2024-11-05 04:04:27 +0000 UTCActually, for Yang Podi, winning this soul battle was very simple, especially with his spear light attacks that could directly target his opponent's vital spots.
However, this was just an ordinary match, a simple sparring session, with no lethal attacks allowed. So, Yang Podi directed his spear light to strike the opponent's body rather than aiming at the head or other vital spots.
Even in his final move, Sweeping Army, Yang Podi could have used the spear blade for a more intense attack, but he chose to hold back.
With the spear techniques, spear light, and even the spear blade slashes Yang Podi had mastered at this stage, he was like a cheat code against Soul Elders.
The release of his spear light was faster than using soul skills and was simpler and more direct, which caused his opponent to be injured almost instantly.
Ordinary soul masters might not understand the significance of Yang Podi's techniques and spear light, but higher-ranked soul masters could certainly recognize their power.
As a teacher at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, Teacher Li Xiang was exposed to a wide range of knowledge and naturally understood Yang Podi's exceptional combat abilities. When the match ended, Teacher Li Xiang couldn't help but swallow. Was this really what Yang Podi considered to be a lack of combat experience? It's likely that not a single student at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy could stand against him.
When Yang Podi returned to the five-member team, the other three looked at him as if they had seen a monster. Even Yang Ping'an, who rarely saw Yang Podi's true combat strength, was in awe.
Following that, both Yang Ping'an and Dugu Yan participated in one-on-one soul battles, and each won their match. Yang Ping'an, who had trained and fought with Yang Podi for a long time, had unmatched physical conditioning and combat experience among Great Soul Masters, while Dugu Yan, now at level 29, found Great Soul Master battles easy.
Next up was the two-on-two soul battle with Yang Podi and Ye Lingling.
Their opponents in this match were two Soul Elders at level 35, both with hammer-type martial souls, and known in the arena as the Hammer Brothers.
This soul battle was even simpler. Tool Soul Masters generally have weaker early-stage combat strength compared to Beast Soul Masters, especially in terms of physical enhancement, as Tool Souls cannot achieve martial soul possession at first.
When Yang Podi and Ye Lingling entered the arena, they faced their two opponents together. Despite the Hammer Brothers' coordinated defense, they were inferior in strength, martial soul utilization, and physical attributes compared to Yang Podi.
Yang Podi launched an aggressive attack, and even with the opponents' combined defenses, his White Crane Spreads Wings move was unstoppable. Even their soul skills couldn't hold up, and with his next move, Pulling Up Mountains, he disoriented them with raw power.
Taking advantage of their confusion, a spear light swiftly struck one opponent's arm, leaving a hole. Then, with a follow-up sweep, Yang Podi eliminated one of them.
He immediately shifted his assault to the other opponent, and within two moves, the Destruction Spear's tip was already pointed at the man's neck.
The entire process was swift, lasting barely a minute. Ye Lingling didn't even need to use her healing soul skills—the battle was already won.
When they returned to their team, Ye Lingling was still dazed. She hadn't expected the battle to be so easy and so quick.
After this match, Yang Podi had expended very little soul power, and with Dugu Yan's earlier easy match, they signed up for another battle together.
This match wasn't difficult either. Their opponents were two level 37 Beast Soul Masters who had relatively good teamwork. However, in less than three minutes, Yang Podi and Dugu Yan claimed victory.
That evening, Yang Podi had fought in three matches, winning each one swiftly.
When Teacher Li Xiang came to review the battles, he first analyzed Dugu Yan and Yang Ping'an's performances in the previous matches. However, he wasn't sure how to analyze Yang Podi's three battles. They were too short, revealing no weaknesses at all.
The five of them then returned to Heaven Dou Imperial Academy by carriage. Yang Podi took back his Gold Soul Coin card from Teacher Li Xiang. Since it was his first time competing in both solo and team battles, the winning rewards were relatively high, and his earnings surpassed 50,000 Gold Soul Coins.
Back in the dormitory, Yang Podi reviewed his battle scenes. Although his opponents were relatively weak, each battle still provided him with some insights.
And during his post-battle meditation, his meditation speed seemed faster than usual. The Destruction Spear truly was the most suitable martial soul for combat; only through battle could he grow stronger.
The next morning, after Yang Podi and Yang Ping'an finished spear practice, they decided not to attend classes. Attending classes now felt pointless, so they opted for cultivation in a mimicry environment instead.
Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's mimicry environments were highly advanced, with many options available. Yang Podi selected a suitable environment to train in, finding it far more beneficial than sitting in class.
In the afternoon, when Yang Podi arrived at Training Field No. 3, he saw it had already been remodeled. The academy's efficiency was remarkable. His request, though simple, had been completed overnight, a feat likely handled by construction-type soul masters.
When the other team members arrived, they were shocked by the transformations to the training field.
Yang Podi addressed the group, "As you can see, the training field has been changed. Yesterday's training was just basic weighted running. From today onwards, it's weighted obstacle running. Stick to yesterday's weight levels and start with 50 kilometers. We'll adjust as needed."
Yang Ping'an and the others looked at the modified training field with dread.
They'd been exhausted from running yesterday, and now, with the added obstacles, it seemed like they'd be completely drained by the end.
But Yang Podi paid no mind to their concerns. He picked up another weight and started running. For every weighted run, he would carry an extra load on top of his regular training weights.
Seeing this, Yang Ping'an took a deep breath and followed closely.
The other three reluctantly started their weighted obstacle run.
Teacher Li Xiang watched their progress, and his face couldn't help but twitch. The intensity of this training seemed excessive even to him.
Each obstacle was different, and he couldn't understand how Yang Podi had come up with such an idea.
Still, he supervised their weighted obstacle running, which was much more complicated than a simple weighted run and sometimes involved various dangers.
