Chapter 69: First Soul Battle
🕑 Added 2024-11-05 04:03:30 +0000 UTCAfter Yang Podi finished explaining everything, the afternoon training session began.
Since Dugu Yan started training with Yang Podi a few times, she got used to wearing weights, and Ye Lingling also chose the lightest weight of 5 kg to join everyone in running with weights.
Teacher Li Xiang supervised and monitored everyone's physical condition.
After an afternoon of training, nearly everyone was exhausted, especially Ye Lingling, who almost collapsed on the ground, lacking any sense of elegance.
With that, the afternoon's training session ended, and Teacher Li Xiang arranged for everyone to take a medicinal bath. The two girls, especially, were practically carried by Teacher Li Xiang.
The medicinal bath lasted only an hour, but afterward, everyone felt revitalized.
For Niu Meng, Tai Long, Bai Xiaofei, and Ye Lingling, this was their first time experiencing training at this level. During the bath, they felt every pore open, and a sense of comfort like they had never felt before.
After the bath, the eight of them went to the dining hall of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy to feast. This not only kept their energy levels up but also ensured they had proper nutrition. In the dining hall, they ate voraciously, as if they hadn't eaten in days, which shocked the noble students nearby, making Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling blush from the attention.
After dinner, it was time for individual training. Niu Meng, Tai Long, and Bai He, whose soul power was relatively low, went to practice in environments suited to their souls. Teacher Li accompanied Yang Podi, Yang Ping'an, Dugu Yan, and Ye Lingling as they left Heaven Dou Imperial Academy.
The academy was only 20 kilometers from Heaven Dou City, a trip that took about half an hour by carriage and even less time on soul beasts.
The five of them took a carriage to the Great Soul Arena of Heaven Dou City. For the four younger members, this was their first time participating in soul battles, although they were familiar with the concept due to their family backgrounds.
Under Teacher Li Xiang's guidance, the four registered as members of the Soul Arena and filled out their registration forms with their names, ages, birthplaces, and soul details.
When filling out their ages, they all added a few years. Yang Podi wrote that he was 20 years old, and the others wrote similar ages around 20.
After registering, each of the four received an Iron Soul Badge.
In the Soul Arena, no one used their real names; instead, everyone had a title.
Yang Podi chose the title "White Horse Silver Spear," Yang Ping'an chose "Spear of the World," Dugu Yan picked "Jade Phosphor Poison Empress," and Ye Lingling chose "Undying Begonia." These titles reflected their personalities and soul traits.
Additionally, Yang Podi formed two-man teams with each of the others. With Yang Ping'an, they were the "Double Spear of Destruction" team, with Dugu Yan, they were the "Jade Phosphor Destruction" team, and with Ye Lingling, they were the "Destruction Begonia" team.
According to Yang Podi's plan, he would participate in one one-on-one battle daily and at least one two-on-two battle, with his partner depending on the day's circumstances.
Yang Ping'an and Dugu Yan were to participate in at least one soul battle each day, while Ye Lingling only needed to join team battles, acting as the healer for the group.
Teacher Li Xiang would handle gathering information, preparing for battles, and analyzing them afterward. For a teacher at Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, these tasks were quite simple.
Soon, it was time for Yang Podi's match. He handed Teacher Li Xiang 10,000 gold soul coins to place a bet on his victory.
Yang Podi then entered the arena through the contestants' passage. The arena was massive, dozens of meters in both length and width, with stands packed to capacity. The venue was larger than any stadium for soccer or basketball from his previous life, with an audience of tens of thousands.
As soon as the two contestants entered, cheers erupted, louder than any concert from his past life.
In the Soul Arena, most participants wore masks, rarely showing their true faces. Yang Podi wore a silver mask, which hid his true age.
As the two contestants stepped into the ring, the announcer introduced, "Now entering is the White Horse Silver Spear, with soul power at level 35 Soul Elder, and a soul of the Destruction Spear. This is his first soul battle." A large screen showed Yang Podi's image, along with details of his soul and soul power level.
"Facing him is the Mighty King, with soul power at level 38 Soul Elder and the soul of the Mighty Bull. He has a record of 28 wins and 11 losses."
"Both contestants have one minute to prepare and summon their souls."
As soon as this was announced, Yang Podi summoned his Destruction Spear, revealing two yellow and one purple soul rings.
His opponent, a tall, muscular fighter nearly two meters in height, also summoned his soul. A large Mighty Bull soul shadow covered him, displaying two yellow and one purple soul rings.
The minute passed quickly, and the announcer declared, "Both contestants are ready. The battle begins now!"
As soon as the match started, Yang Podi charged forward with his spear, aiming to seize the offensive.
The Mighty King also rushed forward, planning to attack directly.
As they closed in, Yang Podi thrust his spear forward, focusing all his power on the spear tip, executing his move: "Direct Strike to the Heart."
His opponent seemed to realize the power of this move and activated his second soul skill, "Bull Charge," using his second yellow ring.
The spear and fist collided, and while Yang Podi remained steady, the Mighty King's hand suffered a serious wound, his fist injured in just one move.
The Mighty King was shocked. Among Soul Elders of similar rank, his strength was unparalleled, but his opponent had injured him without even using a soul skill.
Yang Podi took advantage of his opponent's shock, thrusting his spear forward, releasing a silver flash that struck his opponent's left shoulder, creating a deep puncture wound that bled profusely.
Without missing a beat, Yang Podi leaped forward, using the move "Sweeping Army." The Mighty King, unwilling to admit defeat, activated his third soul skill, "Bull Strength," which was a strength-enhancing skill.
However, with wounds on his hand and shoulder, his power was greatly reduced.
When the Mighty King's fists met Yang Podi's spear, he felt an overwhelming force that exceeded his expectations. The impact sent him flying, and he lost consciousness immediately.
With that, Yang Podi's first soul battle concluded. He had defeated his level 38 Soul Elder opponent without using a single soul skill, sending him out of the arena.
The entire crowd fell silent, then erupted into cheers.
It was rare to see a high-level Soul Elder match end so quickly and with such a decisive victory.
