Chapter 55: Gathering and Drinking
🕑 Added 2024-10-17 22:01:51 +0000 UTCAfter Yang Podi and the others greeted their grandfather Niu Gao, everyone dispersed.
In the hall, there were three tables. The central one had the patriarchs: Grandfather Yang Wudi, Second Grandfather Yang Wushuang, Niu Gao, Tai Tan, and Bai He, who appeared to be in great spirits and were all key figures in their families.
The table on the left was for the middle-aged generation, including Yang Podi's parents, the leader of the Strength Clan, Tai Nuo, his uncle Niu Mang from the Defense Clan, and a refined-looking middle-aged man named Bai Tianyu, with all five being direct descendants of the clan leaders.
However, Yang Podi's mother, Niu Jinfeng, had brought his younger sister Yang Tianyue to this table, while Bai Tianyu had a little girl beside him, probably the younger Bai Chenxiang, who looked about the same age as Yang Tianyue.
The right table was filled with the younger generation, including Yang Podi, Yang Ping'an, Niu Meng, Tai Long, and Bai Xiaofei.
When Yang Podi and Yang Ping'an reached their table, Tai Long immediately spoke up, "Podi, Ping'an, why did you two come so late? Since you're late, you should drink three cups as a penalty!"
The other two joined in the teasing.
"Tai Long, Niu Meng, and Xiaofei, we live quite far away, so it couldn't be helped. Let's skip the penalty and just have a drink together."
Niu Meng firmly disagreed, "That won't do! It's rare for us to gather; if you arrive late, you should still drink as a penalty!"
"Fine, we can do the penalty drinking, but I'll drink one cup first, and then we'll all drink together. How does that sound?"
After saying that, Yang Podi exchanged glances with Yang Ping'an, raised their cups, and downed them in one go, ignoring the others' protests, and sat down.
Niu Meng, still wanting to tease, was quickly pressed down by Yang Podi.
"Cousin, you're being a bit inconsiderate. You've been told to drink three cups for being late!"
"Cousin, it's not every day we get to gather. Let's just enjoy ourselves together; let's raise our glasses and wish for the continued prosperity of the Four Single Attribute Clans!"
After Yang Podi spoke, he immediately filled his cup and raised it. Niu Meng was about to say something else when he was pressed down again, unable to continue.
"Cousin, your strength is too great; I'll drink, alright?"
Once those words were said, everyone raised their cups and drank it all down.
Niu Meng then turned to Yang Ping'an and said, "Ping'an, you follow my cousin every day. Aren't you tired? I get a bit scared every time I see him."
"It is a bit tiring, but it's not too bad. Big Brother has taught me a lot," Yang Ping'an replied.
Originally, there were only four members of the younger generation among the Four Single Attribute Clans. After Yang Ping'an joined, everyone got along very well. Especially after Niu Meng fought a few matches with Yang Ping'an, he seemed somewhat convinced. Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei had also sparred with Yang Ping'an and admired him. Moreover, since Yang Ping'an was the youngest of the five, he naturally became the fifth member.
Yang Ping'an had long been recognized as a grandson by Yang Wudi and Yang Wushuang, so there was no issue attending such gatherings, and everyone liked his pleasant personality.
The five continued drinking and chatting, sometimes discussing various topics, other times sharing jokes, and everyone laughed heartily, showing signs of getting quite drunk.
Bai Xiaofei suddenly grew curious, "Ping'an, what level is your soul power now? The last time we met was probably a year ago at my place."
"Brother Xiaofei, I just broke through to Level 26."
Bai Xiaofei, Tai Long, and Niu Meng were all surprised. "Ping'an, how did you manage to reach Level 26 so quickly? Did Big Brother make you train every day?"
"Not really; training with Big Brother is actually quite good. I can learn a lot from him, especially since we practice spear techniques together every morning. Why don't you guys come to the Breaking Clan and train with Big Brother?"
Niu Meng immediately responded, "No way! You have no idea how tough Big Brother's training is; I can't handle it."
Tai Long and Bai Xiaofei nodded in agreement, completely in agreement with him.
The relationship between the five had always been good, and they had trained with Yang Podi at the Breaking Clan, but they all left after just two days.
At this moment, Tai Long spoke, "Ping'an, you're already Level 26, and I'm still at Level 21."
Bai Xiaofei chimed in, "I'm at Level 21 as well."
Niu Meng laughed heartily, "You two are both at Level 21, but I'm already at Level 22!"
Tai Long seemed a bit unsatisfied. "What are you laughing at? In a month, I'll also break through to Level 22!"
Bai Xiaofei fell silent, but he was probably about to reach Level 22 soon.
Yang Ping'an found it strange, "Why aren't you asking about Big Brother's level?"
Niu Meng looked bewildered. "What's the point of asking about his level? Compared to him, I'd just feel discouraged, so let's skip it."
"To avoid being disheartened by Big Brother, let's drink a toast first; it'll help us calm our nerves."
After that, the five of them raised their cups once more and drank it down.
Suddenly, Niu Meng proposed, "How about we four challenge Cousin together? Four of us as Soul Grand Masters should be able to take him on, right?"
Yang Ping'an shook his head, "Brother Niu Meng, we really can't beat Big Brother."
Niu Meng seemed a bit unconvinced. "How can that be possible? We're all Soul Grand Masters, and if we work together, our strength is quite decent. I'll focus on defense, and you and Tai Long will launch a strong attack while Xiaofei provides support and distraction. Who can beat the four of us among the Soul Garand Masters?"
"But Big Brother is already a Soul Elder; do you think your defense can withstand his attacks?"
Upon hearing this, Niu Meng nearly spat out his drink, almost spraying it on Yang Ping'an's face.
Niu Meng managed to swallow down his drink, "What did you say? Cousin is already a Soul Elder? Then forget it; I take back what I said."
Yang Podi leaned in, placing a hand on Niu Meng's shoulder. "Cousin, I heard you wanted to challenge me. I'm always ready; just let me know when you're up for it."
"Cousin, you must have misheard; I was saying we four wanted to challenge you. In terms of drinking, you can't beat the four of us. If you don't believe me, you can ask the other three."
The other three hurriedly nodded, secretly thinking: all three are new Soul Grand Masters, and challenging a Soul Elder? That's just asking for a beating, especially since Big Brother's fighting power is so exaggerated; it's definitely a beating.
Yang Podi was intrigued. "Cousin, I remember you're the best drinker among us five, right? Shouldn't you be the one accepting the challenge from the four of us?"
"Bring it on! I'm not afraid. In terms of drinking, I've never been scared of anyone."
"Let's drink a toast first, and then everyone can take turns."
"Cousin, isn't this a bit unfair? Four people against me alone."
"Didn't you just say you wanted to challenge the four of us? Let's drink!"
The other three seemed to be stirring up trouble, quickly grabbing their cups to drink with Niu Meng.
By the end of this drinking session, Niu Meng was already lying drunk under the table, while Yang Podi and the other three were also swaying, clearly having drunk quite a bit.
In the end, Niu Meng was carried back to his room by the servants, while Yang Podi and the others stumbled back to their own room and fell asleep.
