Chapter 52: Crocodile King Spear
🕑 Added 2024-10-17 22:00:02 +0000 UTCAfter dividing up the bear claw, Yang Podi and his father decided to leave Sunset Forest.
Yang Podi spoke up suddenly, "Father, Tianyue is still quite young. When do you plan to give her this soul bone?"
His father replied, "I haven't decided yet. It might take some time."
"It would be safest to wait until she reaches the Soul Elder level, or even the Soul Ancestor level, before letting her absorb it. That way, it will be less risky. Also, we should find a way to fuse the soul bone first. This soul bone should be kept hidden unless it's a life-or-death situation. Otherwise, Tianyue could be in danger."
Yang Zhentian nodded in agreement. "You're right; we can't rush this. After all, this soul bone is invaluable. Let's keep it a secret for now. Don't tell anyone about it. And about your tail bone, you need to find a way to integrate it fully with your body as soon as possible."
"I know, Father. I have a plan."
The journey back was quick. In just one day, they returned to the Breaking Clan, where they finally felt a sense of relief.
They'd been gone for over ten days, enough time for Podi's mother to give his father an exasperated look. "All this just to obtain a third soul ring? Did it really need to take so long? Are you even capable?"
Seeing this, Yang Podi's mother, Niu Jinfeng, decided that she would personally lead him on his next hunt for a soul ring. His father couldn't help but feel frustrated. After all, it was his son's desire for a high-quality soul ring that made it take so long.
However, the results were more than worth it. Not only had they obtained a rare soul ring, but they'd also gained two external soul bones. Especially the Earth Demon Bear's claw bone—it was hard for Zhentian not to covet it. Had it not been for his son and daughter, he wouldn't have given it up. His son truly was a lucky star.
Back in his room, Yang Podi began examining the tail. As he infused his soul power into it, the tail gradually extended.
The tail was golden, much like the Golden Crocodile King's, although smaller and more suited to his body.
As he examined it, he noticed that the tail was composed of numerous segments, perfectly connected, like vertebrae in a spine. He tested the tail's resilience by jabbing it with his Breaking Soul Spear. It hurt as if he'd struck bone, but the spear left only a faint mark, confirming its impressive defense.
The most terrifying aspect of the tail was its tip, which was about 30 centimeters long and shaped like a triangular blade, resembling a trident. It was incredibly sharp, akin to a legendary weapon.
Yang Podi picked up a thick metal slab and, using the tail, pierced it easily. Seeing the metal perforated so effortlessly, he couldn't help but gulp. This tail's sharpness was almost equal to that of his spear's blade.
Next, he whipped the tail against the metal, leaving a visible mark. The force behind the tail seemed more formidable than his own strength.
The Golden Crocodile King truly lived up to its reputation as a supreme soul beast of metallic and strength attributes. The tail was a perfect blend of both—whether used as a whip or spear, it was a formidable weapon. If it could evolve into a 100,000-year soul bone, who knew how powerful it would become?
Training with this tail would be a challenge, though. If he could master the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's divided attention technique, he could wield it as a second spear. It would be like the dual-sword technique from legends, enabling him to overwhelm opponents with ease.
Although the tail was somewhat short, only about two meters, he wondered if it could manifest a spear tip or spear intent like his weapon. That would make it even more terrifying.
That evening, his father and mother led him to his grandfather's training room, where both of his grandfathers awaited him.
"Son, show us your tail bone. We need to examine it and see how to help you manage it," his father said.
Podi hesitated, "Father, this might not be the best idea. You know the drawbacks of this thing. I'm too old to be exposing myself."
His mother gave him a strange look. "Podi, are you really embarrassed? We've all seen you as a baby, so what's the big deal?"
Yang Podi couldn't help but think, There's a big difference between then and now.
But seeing that they wouldn't take no for an answer, he reluctantly complied. He took a pair of scissors, cut a hole in his pants, and extended the tail through it.
As it emerged, his parents were both stunned, especially his mother, who looked torn between laughter and tears at the sight of her son with a tail.
The four of them took turns examining the tail closely, even checking its base. After half an hour, they finally stepped back. Just as Yang Podi was about to retract it, his grandfather Yang Wudi stopped him.
"Podi, don't put it away just yet. Let's test its full strength."
As Yang Podi demonstrated its abilities, everyone was amazed. Yang Wudi remarked, "This tail is truly powerful. Its strength and sharpness are impressive, and it will continue to grow as your soul power increases. If it evolves to a ten-thousand-year level, who knows how strong it could become?"
"Grandfather, how should I train this tail? It still feels a bit awkward."
After a moment of thought, Yang Wudi replied, "Podi, you need to use it as much as possible. With practice, you should be able to wield it with more finesse."
"Also, your second grandfather and I will look into the divided attention technique of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. It will help you maximize the tail's potential."
"Divided attention? Isn't that a closely guarded secret of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan?"
"Many clans once practiced it, but none studied it as thoroughly as they did. For them, it was especially useful, making their soul abilities even stronger."
"Other clans found it too cumbersome and eventually abandoned it. But your second grandfather and I have come across several texts on the subject from our days traveling the world. We should be able to find a way for you to train."
"Grandfather, this tail does sound a bit strange. Why don't I call it the Crocodile King Spear?"
His mother chimed in approvingly, "That's a great name, very fitting for your tail. From now on, let's call it the Crocodile King Spear."
