Chapter 28: The First Soul Ring
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 05:05:01 +0000 UTCAfter finding a clearing, Yang Wudi set down the Thousand Arm Ant and Yang Podi, looking worried. "Podi, to absorb a soul ring, you must personally hunt it. Now, you need to kill this Thousand Arm Ant."
"Podi, you need to think this through. This Thousand Arm Ant is older than what is normally absorbed for a soul ring, which means the risk is very high, and the absorption process will be quite painful."
"Grandpa, you should have tested my physical strength. I will definitely succeed!"
Looking at the injured Thousand Arm Ant, Yang Podi summoned his martial soul, the Soul-Breaking Spear, and directly stabbed it into the ant's eye. The spear pierced through, and the ant immediately bled profusely and died.
As soon as it fell, a yellow soul ring appeared above the dead body.
Yang Podi looked at the soul ring and sat cross-legged on the ground. Taking a deep breath, he adjusted his mental state to its best before beginning the absorption process.
Following the method for soul ring absorption, Yang Podi raised his right hand, gathering all his soul power in his palm. As a sharp light glimmered, a black Soul-Breaking Spear materialized in his hand. At the same time, his entire body seemed to respond, as if craving the soul ring, clearly indicating that the Thousand Arm Ant's soul ring was very compatible with his martial soul.
But Yang Podi did not think too much about it. Guided by his soul power, the Thousand Arm Ant's soul ring slowly floated towards him. At that moment, as the soul ring drew nearer, he felt an unprecedented pressure, and his bones made faint cracking sounds under this strain.
As the soul ring approached the top of his head, an overwhelming force surged into his body, exceeding Yang Podi's limits. Once inside, it began to wreak havoc, making him feel like his veins and blood vessels would burst.
At the critical moment, his martial soul activated and began to absorb the overwhelming energy, allowing his body to gradually calm down.
Without giving him a chance to react, the yellow light suddenly contracted into a hand-sized but solid soul ring, which then snapped onto the Soul-Breaking Spear in his right hand. Yang Podi felt his hand burn as if it had plunged into magma, a torrid energy flooded into him, and he felt a violent heat surge within, causing his insides to feel like they were on fire. His body trembled violently.
In this moment, Yang Podi summoned all his strength, focusing his mind, and began to use meditation to guide the energy flowing into his body. The Soul-Breaking Spear, under this influence, appeared to undergo countless forges, becoming denser and darker, much like ordinary iron that had been hammered and refined repeatedly.
At this point, Yang Podi could clearly observe the flow of his soul power and the internal structure of his body. In his mind, he visualized a giant holding the Soul-Breaking Spear, standing amidst flames, the giant's physique robust while the spear stood proudly in the fire, unyielding.
He had no idea how long it had been, but the overwhelming energy gradually merged with his being, warming his body and making him feel exceptionally comfortable. His veins seemed to have widened significantly, and the flow of soul power became faster, as if he had broken through a bottleneck.
"I did it! I've successfully absorbed my first soul ring"
As Yang Podi slowly opened his eyes, he felt incredibly unblocked, with his physical strength significantly enhanced and his body stronger than ever, even feeling taller.
Standing nearby, Yang Wudi breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Yang Podi's success in absorbing his first soul ring. After all, this was a nearly 600-year-old soul ring, marking a record in the soul world and a historical breakthrough.
"Grandpa, I succeeded! I absorbed my first soul ring !"
Yang Wudi looked proud. "Podi, you did well. You actually succeeded! You truly are my grandson, Yang Wudi!"
"Podi, let me check your body for any issues or hidden injuries."
"Grandpa, I feel great now! There's absolutely no problem."
Ignoring Yang Podi's objections, Yang Wudi thoroughly examined his body and finally spoke, "Everything looks good. You seem to be much stronger. So, Podi, what do you think of the Thousand Arm Ant's soul ring?"
"Podi, what's the ability of your first soul skill? What's the effect?"
"Grandpa, my first soul skill is called Thousand Jun Strength. It's very effective. When I use my first soul skill, my physical strength increases by fifty percent, and the power of the Soul-Breaking Spear doubles for ten minutes. Plus, my soul power has reached level 12!"
Hearing this, Yang Wudi swallowed hard. "Podi, that first "soul skill" of yours is impressive! It might rival the thousand-year soul skill of the Strength Clan. I've rarely heard of weapon martial souls enhancing physical strength; that usually only happens after the seventh soul skill."
Hearing his grandfather's words, Yang Podi couldn't help but smile. After reaching 'Soul Sage', the synergy between soul masters and weapon martial souls becomes perfect, especially with mental compatibility. However, having two martial souls and the second being the main martial soul allows for a better connection, hence the body benefiting as well.
Just like in Douluo II, where Du Bu Shi was a full-body martial soul, his seventh soul ring was a hundred-thousand-year soul ring, showcasing unparalleled strength.
"I will work hard to ensure that my seventh soul ring can absorb a hundred-thousand-year soul ring."
At that moment, Yang Wudi had finished sorting through the Thousand Arm Ant's corpse and found no "soul bones".
Just as they were about to leave, Yang Podi suddenly remembered something. "Grandpa, I see that there are plenty of herbs in
