Chapter 26: Encounter with Robbers
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 05:03:45 +0000 UTCSure enough, after a while, five people appeared in front of the two.
Judging by their attire, these five were likely "soul masters", consisting of four men and one woman. The leader of the group was an older man, probably in his fifties, while the other three men appeared to be in their early forties, and the woman looked younger, likely in her thirties.
The older man was rather short and slim but appeared quite sharp, with a calculating look in his eyes. The three middle-aged men had similar appearances, though one was unusually tall, over two meters. The other two were fairly ordinary-looking but had muscular builds, indicating their considerable strength. The woman, meanwhile, dressed provocatively and appeared rather alluring, with both her figure and looks comparable to celebrities from the past.
Yang Podi couldn't help but silently complain to himself: This is my first time following Grandpa into a soul beast forest, and we already ran into robbers?
The five positioned themselves in a loose circle around Yang Wudi. The older man stepped forward and spoke, "Brother, we're members of the Blood Mantis Mercenary Group. May I ask what kind of soul beast you're here to hunt? If you need assistance, our group would be more than happy to help."
Yang Wudi didn't even glance at them. "No need, we can handle it ourselves."
The older man persisted, "Brother, we're just here to make some money. Hand over all your valuables, and we'll ensure you get the soul beast you want. With one soul king and four soul ancestors among us, hunting a soul beast is no challenge."
As he spoke, all five revealed their martial souls and rings. Indeed, the older man had the strength of a soul king, while the others were soul ancestors. The older man's martial soul was a mantis, while the three middle-aged men had a bear, a rat, and a scimitar. The woman's martial soul was a snake. The older man had two yellow and three purple soul rings, while the other four each had one white, one yellow, and two purple soul rings
Yang Wudi sneered, "I've already said I don't need your help. If you're looking to make money, find someone else. Don't waste your time with me."
The short man didn't seem surprised by this response. Instead, he replied, "Brother, it's not about whether you want our help anymore. It's that we're determined to make this deal happen."
"Oh? So you're planning to force us into this transaction?"
"Not quite," the man said, "But from what I can see, you might be strong, but you've got a kid with you. I doubt you can handle the five of us while protecting him."
Yang Wudi ignored the man's threat and turned to Yang Podi. "Podi, I'm going to teach you a lesson now. Pay close attention."
As soon as Yang Wudi finished speaking, a Soul-Breaking Spear appeared in his hand, and his two yellow, two purple, and three black soul rings lit up. He immediately thrust his spear toward the leader of the group.
The five were visibly stunned by the sight of Yang Wudi's soul rings
But in the blink of an eye, Yang Wudi's spear was already in front of the older man. The man quickly activated his fifth soul skill, and two enormous mantis legs, sharp like scythes, slashed toward Yang Wudi's attack.
However, the attack was futile. The Soul-Breaking Spear pierced through the mantis and the man himself, skewering him entirely.
Seeing this, the other four realized they had picked a fight with the wrong person and attempted to flee.
Yang Wudi's spear moved swiftly, stabbing one of the middle-aged men and flinging another into the air with a powerful sweep.
The remaining two were scared out of their minds and tried to run as fast as they could. But Yang Wudi wasn't about to let them go. He quickly chased after one of the men, his spear ignoring the man's soul skills and once again piercing through him. The last woman had already run more than dozens of meters away, but Yang Wudi hurled his spear like a javelin, and it shot through the air like lightning, pinning her to the ground.
In just a few moments, all five had been completely wiped out by Yang Wudi, with none of them able to escape.
Yang Podi watched in shock as his grandfather effortlessly killed all five of their attackers. They hadn't even had a chance to fight back, and his grandfather hadn't even needed to use his soul skills
The five robbers had died gruesomely. Three of them were impaled by the spear, another was blown apart, and the last, who was merely wounded by the spear's shaft, lay dying on the ground, barely clinging to life.
Yang Wudi didn't waste time with mercy, swiftly ending the man's suffering with a final blow from his spear.
The five corpses were sprawled across the ground, blood pooling everywhere, with some of their organs scattered around as well.
This was the first time in either of Yang Podi's lives that he had seen someone kill, and the scene was so bloody that he couldn't help but feel nauseous.
Yang Wudi ignored his grandson's reaction and instead said, "Podi, go search their bodies for anything valuable."
Suppressing the urge to vomit, Yang Podi walked over to the corpses.
He started with the leader's body, which had a massive hole in its chest where the Soul-Breaking Spear had pierced through. Blood was still gushing out, staining the body entirely red.
After searching for a while, he found a storage device on the man. He continued to search the other four bodies, and by the time he finished, his clothes were drenched in blood, and he could no longer hold back. He vomited violently, emptying the contents of his stomach.
Yang Wudi remained indifferent to his grandson's state, instead pulling out a large bag of water and a fresh set of clothes from his own storage device. "Wash off the blood and change into clean clothes. We need to leave this place soon."
Trembling, Yang Podi took the water and began cleaning himself before changing into the new clothes.
Once they were ready, Yang Wudi grabbed his grandson's hand, and they quickly left the area, as though nothing had happened.
Yang Podi felt that ever since they had encountered those five, his grandfather had changed. The usual warmth and kindness were gone, replaced by a cold, lethal aura.
Even the way his grandfather treated him seemed to have changed. He no longer looked at him as his grandson but as a stranger.
About half an hour later, they arrived at a new clearing. Yang Wudi set up the tent once again, and the two sat down together. Yang Wudi then spoke, "Podi, tell me, do you have any questions about what just happened? What have you learned?"
Clearly, Yang Wudi intended to use this experience to teach his grandson a lesson.
