Chapter 24: Cultivation Plan
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 05:01:53 +0000 UTCAfter breaking through to level ten in Soul power, Yang Podi calmed down and began to seriously consider his future cultivation plan.
The Breaking Clan's martial spirit, the Breaking Soul Spear, is focused on extreme offensive power, as well as destruction. The family's inherited experience dictates that all spirit rings should be chosen to enhance attack-type skills.
This allows them to have nearly unmatched offensive power among those of the same level and can even enable them to fight opponents of higher ranks.
However, the drawbacks are also quite apparent: lack of defense and versatility, making the approach somewhat rigid.
While this method may be theoretically sound, it wasn't the path Yang Podi personally wished to take.
After reviewing the original novel, Yang Podi thought carefully about the top-tier weapon Martial Soul of the current era: the Clear Sky Hammer, the Seven Kill Sword, and the Breaking Soul Spear. Their representatives are Tang Hao and Tang Xiao of the Clear Sky Sect, Sword Douluo Chenxin, and his own grandfather Yang Wudi, respectively.
However, there is still a significant difference in power between them.
Tang Hao, upon reaching Title Douluo, was able to defeat Qian Xunji and two other Title Douluos, showcasing his immense strength. Tang Xiao, when at level 97, managed to defeat three Martial Soul Hall Title Douluos of similar power by utilizing the Clear Sky Sect's battle formation. His performance left everyone in awe.
Sword Douluo Chenxin, during the battle at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, was able to defeat four Title Douluos. However, at the time, he was already level 97 and had the support of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Although impressive, it wasn't an unimaginable feat since the highest-ranked of his opponents only reached level 92.
His grandfather, Yang Wudi, managed to defeat the level 92 Snake Lance Douluo when he was only at level 82. While this achievement was noteworthy, it was essentially a situation where both parties were left critically injured, and his own soul power of level 82 was somewhat lacking.
The key difference between them lies in the Clear Sky Sect's emphasis on a pure strength-based path, complemented by their self-created spirit ability, the Clear Sky Nine Absolutes. On the other hand, both the Seven Kill Sword and the Breaking Soul Spear, while attack-focused, didn't specialize as deeply as the Clear Sky Hammer.
Thus, Yang Podi planned to follow a pure strength route in his cultivation. Later, he would delve into spear techniques to maximize his potential.
As for spear techniques, that would be relatively simpler for him. In his previous life, he had a particular fondness for spear fighting. He had learned the basics of both the Yang and Yue family spear styles. Although he only knew the fundamentals, once he mastered these, he could create his own Soul abilities.
The other dilemma he faced was his twin martial spirits. If he were to first focus on cultivating his Body Martial Soul , it would enhance his physical prowess to the point where, by the time he reached the Spirit Sage level, his physical strength would be comparable to a Title Douluo. At that point, combining it with the Breaking Soul Spear would make him terrifyingly powerful.
However, for now, he had to hide the existence of his Body Martial Soul. Additionally, as the heir of the Breaking Clan, he had to showcase his proficiency with the Breaking Soul Spear in order to command respect from others.
After this thorough consideration, Yang Podi had essentially decided on his future cultivation path. The only thing left was to acquire a Soul ring. Of course, for this path, he would need the support of both his father and grandfather.
The next morning, Yang Podi went to speak with his father and grandfather: "Grandfather, father, I've reached level ten."
Both were a bit surprised, especially his father: "Son, how is your cultivation progressing so fast? You've already reached level ten?"
Yang Podi couldn't help but internally criticize: What kind of father is this, not even knowing his own son's cultivation progress?
However, his grandfather Yang Wudi spoke up: "Podi, following the optimal cultivation plan of our Breaking Clan, I will personally help you find a suitable Soul ring."
Yang Podi responded seriously: "Grandfather, father, I want to find a strength-type Soul ring."
The two immediately became interested: "Podi, why do you want to find a strength-type Soul ring? Isn't our family's traditional method sufficient?"
"Grandfather, the Breaking Clan's spirit ring configuration is indeed impressive, but I want to focus on strength-type Soul rings, and I want every one of my Soul rings to enhance strength."
Hearing this, Yang Wudi's expression became a bit more serious: "Podi, why do you want so many strength-type Soul rings? Are you trying to follow the Strength Clan's path? No, wait... do you want to imitate the Clear Sky Sect?"
"Your idea is not bad, but many have tried this approach. Don't forget, however, that the Breaking Soul Spear is different in nature. If the spear becomes too heavy, it will hinder your agility in spear techniques. Spear skills emphasize flexibility."
"Grandfather, I've already considered that. That's why I want to absorb Soul rings that exceed the typical age limit. For example, I want my first Soul ring to be between 500 and 600 years old."
"Podi, I've seen people absorb spirit rings that exceed the age limit, but doing so often results in internal injuries. Have you thought about the risks involved? It's very dangerous."
Yang Podi responded resolutely: "Grandfather, don't forget, our clan excels in alchemy. Internal injuries can easily be treated through medicinal baths. Besides, I've been training my body rigorously and undergoing medicinal baths regularly. If you don't believe me, you can test the strength of my body."
After hearing this, his grandfather carefully examined his body, checking every aspect. Finally, Yang Wudi smiled: "Not bad, Podi. Your body is strong enough. Absorbing a 500-year Soul ring shouldn't be a problem."
Upon hearing this, his father also breathed a sigh of relief.
"Podi, tomorrow I will take you to hunt for a soul ring. Do you have a target in mind?"
"Grandfather, I don't have any specific targets, as long as it's strength-type. But if possible, something rare would be better—like the Titan Giant Ape or the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear."
Yang Wudi couldn't help but tap Yang Podi on the head: "Podi, you're dreaming! I've never even seen those beasts, let alone finding one of an appropriate age."
Yang Podi thought to himself: Even as an elder of the Clear Sky Sect, you've never seen a Titan Giant Ape?
After some discussion, they finally narrowed down a list of potential Soul beasts.
These included ants, bears, apes, tigers, and dragon-type spirit beasts, which were all known for their strength. Now they just had to find one that was between 500 and 600 years old, which wouldn't be easy.
The plan was for Yang Wudi to personally accompany Yang Podi to the Sunset Forest. While the Sunset Forest didn't have many high-level spirit beasts, it had plenty of lower-level ones, which is why it was one of the most well-known spirit beast forests on the continent.
Yang Podi had additional plans for this trip to the Sunset Forest. If he could find the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, it would be perfect. He wanted to claim it before Dugu Bo discovered it. If he couldn't secure it now, at least finding its location would allow him to strategize for the future.
The next morning, Yang Wudi took Yang Podi in a carriage toward the Sunset Forest. The forest was about sixty kilometers from the Breaking Clan's territory, and at Yang Podi's age of six, walking the whole way would have been quite difficult.
