Chapter 21: The Second Martial Soul?
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 04:58:41 +0000 UTCFollowing this, Yang Zhentian took out a crystal ball, the kind commonly used to test soul power.
"Son, come over and place your hand on the crystal ball to test your soul power."
Yang Podi did as instructed, placing his right hand on the crystal ball and injecting his soul power into it. The entire crystal ball immediately radiated a brilliant light, and the soul power within it rapidly increased, almost filling the crystal ball to capacity.
According to Yang Podi's own estimation, the crystal ball should have been about ninety percent full. Could it be that his innate soul power was at level nine?
His father, Yang Zhentian, was visibly excited, though he forced himself to remain composed. He turned his head and glanced at his own father, Yang Wudi, seated in the clan leader's position. Yang Wudi nodded slightly, seemingly with some deeper meaning.
Yang Zhentian clearly understood the message and withdrew the crystal ball. Under the gaze of the people present, he said, "Son, your innate soul power is at level eight, which is a very impressive performance."
Upon hearing Yang Zhentian's words, everyone in attendance began whispering among themselves, their faces showing clear signs of joy. Especially the elders sitting above, as an innate soul power of level eight already marked a very talented individual. As long as Yang Podi continued to cultivate diligently, becoming a Soul Douluo should be achievable.
Next, the other children eagerly proceeded with their martial soul awakenings.
Surprisingly, whether due to good luck or bad luck, out of the remaining 12 children, all of them awakened the Breaking Soul Spear as their martial soul, and all had an innate soul power level of five or higher.
The downside was that the highest among them only had an innate soul power of level seven. While a level seven innate soul power could barely be considered a talent, it would take exceptional effort for them to hope to reach the level of Soul Douluo.
After the martial soul awakening ceremony concluded, all the children were taken home by their parents. Yang Podi, along with his parents and two grandfathers, returned home as well, though their expressions seemed somewhat peculiar.
Once home, Yang Zhentian finally spoke: "Son, there was a slight issue during the martial soul awakening."
Yang Podi was bewildered. *What kind of problem could arise during a martial soul awakening?*
"When I helped you test your innate soul power earlier, it should have been level nine. But I deliberately reported it as level eight."
"Dad, why would you do that?"
"Our clan is currently at odds with the Martial Soul Hall and also has strained relations with the Clear Sky Sect. For your safety, we purposely downplayed your talent and innate soul power a bit. This will also help with your future development."
"Dad, don't worry. I'll be sure to keep a low profile when I'm outside."
"Son, you should rest for now. Later, I'll teach you how to cultivate and meditate. Our clan has a small academy where you'll be attending classes every morning."
Yang Podi was stunned. Although he was only six years old, his mental age was over thirty, and now he had to go to school—elementary school no less? The idea of attending classes with a group of children made him feel somewhat uncomfortable.
"Dad, do I really have to go to school? I could just stay at home and read."
"Son, attending school is non-negotiable. The academy teaches important information about the world of soul masters, including cultivation tips and the basics of our clan's alchemy and spear techniques."
"Once you've mastered the material from school, I'll teach you more advanced alchemy knowledge. Remember, both the Breaking Soul Spear and alchemy are the foundations of our clan."
Hearing his father's words, Yang Podi had no choice but to reluctantly agree. After all, his clan had a long history, and it made sense that foundational knowledge should be taught from an early age.
Back in his room, Yang Podi carefully reflected on the martial soul awakening process, sensing that something was off.
Based on how the awakening had gone, after his Breaking Soul Spear martial soul awakened, his soul power continued to flow through his body, as if another martial soul was about to awaken. He had clearly felt sensations throughout his entire body, so why hadn't the second martial soul appeared?
Could it be that the second martial soul hadn't fully awakened? Or had only partially awakened? How could he awaken it completely?
After thinking for a while and still having no clue, he decided to stop overthinking it and instead began considering his future development plans.
With an innate soul power of level nine and the Breaking Soul Spear as his martial soul, things weren't bad overall. Even if he didn't have a second martial soul, he was still considered a prodigy. But when it came to acquiring soul rings, should he follow the traditions of his clan?
Following the clan's traditional methods of obtaining soul rings seemed to limit growth potential. Given the current timeline, Tang San should already be around one year old, which meant that in 19 years, the Martial Soul Hall would initiate the hunt for soul masters. At that time, both the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan would face devastating blows, with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan being completely wiped out, and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan left severely weakened.
In other words, time was incredibly tight. He would need to do everything possible to grow stronger before the war erupted. Otherwise, his clan would be in danger.
But how could he enhance the clan's overall strength? One thing was clear: obtaining the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well would be critical. That place was a true treasure, and it could change the fate of the clan.
That afternoon, his father, Yang Zhentian, entered his room with a book, looking quite serious.
"Son, now that you've awakened your martial soul, it's time for me to teach you how to meditate."
"The world of soul masters has developed over countless years, and every major sect has its own meditation techniques. The differences between them are not too significant, but our clan, once the top of the external families of the Clear Sky Sect, possesses one of the best."
"We exist in an environment filled with soul power, and meditation involves guiding the flow of your internal soul power while also absorbing external soul power. Of course, the type and concentration of soul power in the environment can vary. For example, plant-based soul masters benefit more from cultivating in nature, while fire-attribute soul masters can absorb soul power more quickly in fiery environments."
"Our clan's Breaking Soul Spear martial soul is associated with metallic energy, which is why our cultivation rooms are built over large quantities of metal."
"Now, try meditating. Imagine your body as a small world filled with soul power, and as you meditate, focus on making that power flow smoothly throughout your body. The faster and more thoroughly it flows, the quicker you'll be able to absorb external soul power."
After explaining all this, Yang Zhentian handed him a book. "Son, this book covers the finer points of meditation. Read it when you have time."
