Chapter 18: The New Clan Residence
🕑 Added 2024-10-02 15:41:31 +0000 UTCIn the days that followed, it seemed like all the adults were extremely busy. Yang Zhentian, Yang Podi's father, was especially hard to find, and even his mother had much less time to spend with him.
Yang Podi, however, didn't mind. He didn't complain about wanting to go out and play; instead, he threw himself into his training. Practicing his spear techniques, exercising, soaking in medicinal baths, and reading books—his days were fully scheduled.
In just a few short years, Yang Podi had read through most of the ordinary books available in the clan's library. What remained were books on medicinal herbs and martial soul cultivation, but those were kept in a special collection, out of reach for him for now.
These books were carefully stored for the safety of the clan members. Allowing a child who hadn't awakened their martial soul to access such knowledge could be dangerous.
Three months after his grandfather, Yang Wudi, had arrived in Heaven Dou City, most of the experts in the clan were gathered on a mountain to the east of the city.
The mountain wasn't particularly tall or steep, but it was quite large, covering nearly ten kilometers. More importantly, it had a large valley with a climate that was perfect for growing medicinal herbs. This mountain was called Qingyuan Mountain.
At that moment, Yang Wudi and his group stood on Qingyuan Mountain, looking down at the busy workers below, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Over the past three months, the Breaking Clan had spent a significant portion of their savings to hire the Defense Clan to help construct their new residence. Now, it was finally nearing completion.
The clan's new home was located at the foot of Qingyuan Mountain, covering an area of about two kilometers—practically a small town. Within the grounds, numerous buildings had been constructed, including hundreds of homes, several alchemy rooms, training chambers, a weapons workshop, and even a few large practice fields. There was also a small lake near the edge of the residence.
Everything a sect might need was here. Even the water supply had been sorted out. And, of course, Yang Wudi had quietly arranged for an escape tunnel to be dug, known only to a select few.
After a long morning of work, Niugao approached the group, beaming with pride. "Well, old goat, what do you think? Satisfied with the new clan residence?"
"Old rhino, your craftsmanship is really something," Yang Wudi replied.
"Still, I don't get why you chose this place. Sure, the land is good for growing medicinal herbs, but you could plant them anywhere. This spot has a major flaw."
"Old rhino, of course I know the flaw. But my Breaking Clan has never feared death. If anyone attacks, we'll fight to the last."
The only downside to the Breaking Clan's new home was its lack of natural defenses. The walls surrounding the residence were only a few dozen meters tall—hardly enough to stop any decent spirit master.
But Yang Wudi wasn't concerned about that.
"So, old rhino, how much longer until you're finished?"
"We'll be done in three days at most. Then your clan can move in."
"This time, we really owe you. Without the Defense Clan's help, we never could have built the place so quickly."
"Old goat, no need for thanks. We're practically family. So, when do you plan to move in?"
"Well, if you'll be done in three days, then we'll move in three days from now. How about we all have a gathering to celebrate?"
"That sounds great! I've been looking forward to seeing my little grandson again. It's been a while since I've seen him."
"Good, it's settled then!"
Three days later, Yang Podi, along with his parents and grandfather, visited the new clan residence for the first time.
Looking at the towering walls and the brand-new buildings, Yang Podi was astonished. Everything had clearly been built from scratch, and it was hard to believe that it had all been completed in less than three months. The Defense Clan had certainly lived up to their reputation.
Yang Podi followed his parents to their new home, which was much larger and more luxurious than their previous residence. It was a huge courtyard with all the necessary facilities. There were more than ten rooms, including a study, storage room, alchemy room, kitchen, and a grand hall—far more lavish than anything they'd had before.
The backyard even had a large training ground and a pond. The training area was the size of a basketball court from Yang Podi's past life, and the pond was filled with clear water and fish swimming about. In terms of the environment, it was much better than the so-called luxury villas of his previous life. The only downside was that it felt a bit empty with just the three of them living there.
Everyone was thrilled with their new home, but for some reason, Yang Podi's mother seemed a little hesitant. During dinner, she suddenly said, "Podi, how do you feel about the three of us living together? You don't seem to enjoy playing with the other kids."
Yang Podi was a bit confused. "Those kids are too immature. I prefer reading or training."
"You're such a good boy. But don't you ever feel lonely?" his mother asked.
"Mom, what are you talking about? I'm just a kid; how could I feel lonely?"
"Well, I think you should spend more time with the younger children. Taking care of them will help you become a great leader for the clan someday," his mother suggested.
Yang Podi was growing more confused. "Mom, I'm still too young to be thinking about that. What are you really trying to say?"
After hesitating for a long time, his mother finally asked, "Podi, would you mind having a little brother or sister?"
"Mom, are you pregnant?"
Both his parents fell silent, and Yang Podi instantly understood—he was going to be a big brother.
"Mom, being pregnant is a good thing! That means I'll be a big brother. Why are you both acting so strange?"
His parents quickly reassured him. "Yes, it's a good thing. No matter what, you'll always be our beloved son."
But as they looked at their son's nonchalant attitude, they couldn't help but wonder, "Is our boy a little too clueless? He's about to have a sibling, and he doesn't seem to care at all."
After dinner, Yang Zhentian spoke more seriously. "Son, I'm thinking about sharing the effects of the whale gelatin with the clan. What do you think?"
Yang Podi thought for a moment. "Dad, after the crisis the clan went through, with so many lives lost, it would be good to share the benefits of the whale gelatin with Grandpa and the others. It'll help the clan recover."
Recently, Yang Zhentian had been feeling a bit awkward. Ever since rumors had spread about him taking whale gelatin, people had been giving him odd looks. Even his father, Yang Wudi, had warned him to be careful with his health, which had left him speechless.
