Chapter 11: Whale Glue
🕑 Added 2024-10-02 15:37:30 +0000 UTCAfter the fighting spirit competition ended, Niu Jinfeng took Yang Podi home.
Lying in bed at home, Yang Podi thought about everything he had seen and heard throughout the day. The battle between the two Soul Kings in the arena had a profound impact on him. Words like family, sect, commoners, and empire kept spinning in his mind. He was now considered a core disciple of his family and could also be regarded as a disciple of a sect. Previously, he didn't care much about many resources, but now he realized that his starting point was indeed quite high.
However, with that high starting point came greater dangers. The strength of the Breaking Clan was already comparable to half of the lower four sects. Yet, in front of the Clear Sky Sect and the Martial Soul Hall, their strength was still lacking. Without a Title Douluo or a strong foundation, these were all shortcomings.
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but think of his grandfather, Yang Wudi, and hoped he would safely escape this conflict.
While Yang Podi was lost in thought, his father, Yang Zhentian, returned home with some friends.
Once his father returned, his mother, Niu Jinfeng, pulled him aside in a discreet place and whispered.
"Husband, today when I took our son to the auction, he insisted that I buy this large piece of whale glue. He's only five years old; how could he know about these things?"
"Whale glue? That shouldn't be. Our son has always stayed at home, mostly enjoying reading and practicing martial arts, and he hardly has any interaction with women. How could he know about the uses of whale glue?"
"What are you talking about? He's only five! How could he have those kinds of thoughts? He said he wanted to buy it for you. Did you tell him something?"
"Buy it for me? That's impossible! I have no use for such things!"
"Dear, why don't we just ask our son? It seems a bit strange."
"Alright, but be careful not to lead him astray."
Upon hearing this, Yang Zhentian felt speechless.
Just as Yang Podi was waking up, both his parents unexpectedly entered his room, and his mother was holding that large piece of whale glue.
Niu Jinfeng directly asked, "Son, you didn't mention at the auction what you wanted this whale glue for?"
Yang Zhentian immediately chimed in, "Son, how do you know about whale glue? I'm still in good health; I don't need this stuff."
Hearing both of them speak, Yang Podi thought to himself, What are you two thinking? Whale glue is a great thing!
"Dad, listen to me. I've been reading a lot of books lately and found that whale glue might have a significant use."
Both of his parents looked at Yang Podi with puzzled expressions.
"Dad, I've gone through many ancient texts and discovered that if only a little whale glue is consumed, it indeed has that kind of effect. But for us Soul Masters, if we melt the entire piece of whale glue using fire and then consume it directly, it will produce unexpected effects and benefits."
"Son, which ancient text did you find this in? If it really works, the price should have increased significantly by now."
"Dad, I'm sure it's effective. If you don't believe me, you can give it a try. Even if it doesn't work, it's harmless. And Dad, you must pay special attention: don't tell anyone about the effects of whale glue, not even our clan members."
Yang Podi insisted that his father keep it a secret. For now, in the Douluo Continent, whale glue could be considered a cheat. If it weren't for his father, and if he hadn't encountered it at the auction, he wouldn't want to reveal it so soon.
Moreover, no family is completely united. In the original story, his second grandfather, Yang Wushuang, was captured by the Martial Soul Hall, which ultimately led to the exposure of the Breaking Clan's secret medicine Seven Colored Rainbow Elixir causing great difficulties for the Heaven Dou Empire.
Yang Zhentian still looked doubtful. "Son, according to what you said, does swallowing the whole piece of whale glue really work?"
"Dad, it really works. If you don't believe me, you can try it."
Yang Zhentian stared at the fist-sized whale glue and couldn't help but swallow. "But can such a large piece be swallowed at once?"
Niu Jinfeng interjected, "Our son said it works; why are you still doubting?"
"But—" Yang Zhentian looked at the size of the whale glue and felt speechless.
For the next two days, Yang Podi continued his regular training, and life felt like it had returned to the Breaking Clan. However, his parents disappeared for two whole days and nights, leaving him feeling a bit unsettled.
On the third day, his parents finally returned. Both looked rosy and even a bit fairer, especially his father, whose smile seemed about to burst.
Niu Jinfeng and Yang Zhentian brought Yang Podi into their room. "Son, the whale glue you mentioned really works! My soul power has increased by one level. I'm now a 72nd-level Soul Sage, and after consuming the whale glue, my body expelled a lot of impurities. From now on, my training should become even faster."
"Dad, congratulations! But why are you being so secretive about bringing me here?"
Niu Jinfeng quickly spoke up, "Son, I have a question for you. Does whale glue have any effect on women?"
"Mom, whale glue should be effective for Soul Masters regardless of gender. In fact, it seems to work even better for women, as it has beauty benefits."
"Not bad; our son understands! Otherwise, we would have almost missed such a good thing."
Yang Podi looked at his parents seriously. "Dad, Mom, we shouldn't tell anyone about whale glue, including our clan members."
Yang Zhentian was surprised. "Son, why do you think that?"
"Dad, the matter of whale glue is crucial. Our clan is just a subordinate sect of the Clear Sky Sect; we must keep some things to ourselves."
"But what about your grandfather?"
"Let's not tell Grandpa yet. No one should know. For now, just the three of us should know."
"But son, since whale glue is so beneficial, can't we buy more? However, if we buy too much, won't it raise others' suspicions?"
"Dad, that will depend on you."
Yang Zhentian looked puzzled. "How can that depend on me?"
Yang Podi and Niu Jinfeng exchanged glances and couldn't help but smile.
Niu Jinfeng said meaningfully, "Husband, it's well-known what whale glue does. To cover up our purpose of purchasing it, we have to make a little sacrifice on your part."
"What sacrifice? Wait, what are you two planning?"
"It's nothing. I'll spread the word that you're having difficulties in that area and need whale glue to be effective. That way, we can conveniently buy whale glue."
Hearing this, Yang Zhentian was stunned. "Dear, this doesn't sound good; I'm a man after all!"
Niu Jinfeng replied sternly, "Husband, for the sake of our family, you must sacrifice your reputation a little. Come on, can't you make this small sacrifice?"
Yang Zhentian looked at Niu Jinfeng in despair, then at his son, and ultimately had to give in with tears in his eyes.
