Chapter 7: A Trip to Heaven Dou City
🕑 Added 2024-10-02 15:34:56 +0000 UTCSince there were many children in the group and it was hard to manage them all, each time, Dad, Yang Zhentian, and five other adults took a small group of children out to sightsee, usually about ten at a time. The rest stayed in the courtyard, guarded personally by Second Grandpa, Yang Wushuang.
No one knew who had bought a large amount of building materials from outside, and it seemed like they were planning to build a few more houses around the area? It was said that the Breaking Clan had several properties in Heaven Dou City, but Second Grandpa had no intention of sending anyone to any of these other places.
Noticing this, Yang Podi started to understand. It seemed the family had deliberately arranged for the younger generation to take refuge in Heaven Dou City. Could it be that Grandpa had also received some news?
The following days were much like being back in the Breaking Clan, with Second Grandpa Yang Wushuang personally leading everyone in practicing the Breaking Soul Spear technique early every morning. Second Grandpa seemed to have been triggered by something, becoming very strict with everyone, leaving many feeling miserable.
Of course, everyone was particularly excited about going out to sightsee and eagerly awaited their turn, so their cultivation efforts were more enthusiastic in anticipation. After all, they were still children at heart.
Yesterday, it was finally Yang Podi's turn to go out and sightsee, and he was particularly interested in Heaven Dou City, the largest city in the world.
Unlike the others who went out in large groups, this time, only his mother, Niu Jinfeng, took him out alone, leaving his father casting a resentful look from the side. Other families went out as a trio, but in his case, it was just his wife and son going out to sightsee, while he was left to babysit other kids?
Yang Podi and his mother Niu Jinfeng didn't pay much attention to that and happily went out together.
"Mom, did you often come to Heaven Dou City before?"
Niu Jinfeng proudly replied, "Of course! Don't you know who your mom is? Your mom is a mighty Soul Emperor and used to be a great beauty. Back then, your dad took me to Heaven Dou City many times while courting me."
"Mom, you're still a great beauty now."
"That's right, you're such an obedient child. Today, I'll show you the highlights of Heaven Dou City." Hearing this, Niu Jinfeng seemed quite pleased.
"Mom, what's so fun about Heaven Dou City? It hasn't seemed that interesting these past few days."
"Son, you're still too young to understand the fun in Heaven Dou City."
Seeing Yang Podi's puzzled expression, Niu Jinfeng continued, "Heaven Dou City is the capital of the Heaven Dou Empire and its core. It's said to have a population of over ten million, which makes it exceptionally prosperous."
"There are three main attractions in Heaven Dou City."
"The first is the Heaven Dou Grand Spirit Arena, where spirit masters from the Douluo Continent compete. It's also the only place where non-spirit masters can watch spirit master battles. There are three types of battles: sparring, where no lethal force is allowed; life-or-death duels, used to resolve irreconcilable conflicts; and betting duels, where the details are agreed upon by both sides, and the Spirit Arena assigns a referee to oversee the match."
"The Heaven Dou Spirit Arena is the highest-ranked of all arenas, supporting battles up to the level of Soul Emperor. The battles there are incredibly exciting, and tonight, I'll take you to see one."
"The second attraction is the Heaven Dou Auction House, the largest auction house in the empire. Many valuable items are auctioned there, sometimes even priceless soul bones. Even if you don't participate, attending the auction is a great experience."
"Or maybe it's Heaven Dou City's prosperity itself."
Yang Podi asked with some confusion, "But what's so fun about the city being prosperous?"
"You little child, you don't understand. Prosperity means shopping and food. In Heaven Dou City, you can buy almost anything, even rare soul tools and soul bones. And the city's food is famous throughout the nation. Whatever delicacy you want to eat, you can find it here, and it all tastes fantastic."
Yang Podi couldn't help but think to himself, "No matter which world, shopping and food seem to have a deadly appeal to women."
Afterward, Niu Jinfeng took Yang Podi on a shopping spree. She turned into a shopaholic, buying whatever she liked. From various styles of clothing to small trinkets, if she liked it, she bought it. The precious gold soul coins that were highly valued by commoners were nothing in the eyes of high-ranking spirit masters, especially those from noble families like his mother.
Of course, his mother also bought many clothes and toys for Yang Podi, even small suits of armor, leaving him speechless.
The whole afternoon was spent shopping. It was clear that his mother was quite familiar with Heaven Dou City, even purchasing some rare items.
For dinner, they didn't return home but went to the largest hotel nearby.
As expected of the largest hotel in Heaven Dou City, the exterior and interior were both luxurious. Many parts were decorated with gold or jade, and the grand hall was filled with expensive orchids. Although there were many people dining, the atmosphere wasn't noisy but rather refined and elegant.
It was clear that those who could afford to dine in such a hotel were either nobles, distinguished individuals, or spirit masters.
Niu Jinfeng led Yang Podi to a private room. After glancing at the menu, Yang Podi couldn't help but gulp. No wonder it was the largest hotel in Heaven Dou City—the prices were shocking. A single dish could cost dozens or even hundreds of gold coins, which was equivalent to what a commoner might spend in a lifetime. The price of soul beast meat was even more outrageous.
Perhaps considering that Yang Podi was still young, his mother didn't order any rare soul beast meat but chose more ordinary dishes instead.
As Yang Podi looked at the table full of fragrant dishes, he couldn't hold back any longer and started eating ravenously. His mother, on the other hand, ate with more restraint.
After the feast, Yang Podi's stomach was full, and he had to drink some tea to aid digestion. While the food at Heaven Dou Hotel was expensive, it was indeed delicious, well worth the price. No wonder the place was so popular.
"Mom, are we going back now?"
"Going back already? The night is just getting started. The best part of Heaven Dou City is after dark."
"Next, we'll go to the Heaven Dou Auction House. After the auction, we should still have time to catch the last couple of spirit battles at the Spirit Arena."
Yang Podi now understood that the auction and spirit battles in Heaven Dou City both usually began at night. The auction was shorter, while the battles were more intense and often continued late into the night.
