downloading this works and shows up but makes my game EXTREMELY slow :( tried it with and without better build buy and its the same either way

No this isn't a color swap, it's restoring old resources as EA had them before the redesign. Thepancake just released a minimalist ui I think that's just the buttons on the blue background, that might be something like what you're looking for
