I loved this video! I play disc golf a lot and was so cool seeing how the discs are made. I think it would be neat to team up with Shane at Stuff Made Here and use his launcher and some pro players to show why discs fly the way they do.

I can honestly say I didn’t expect to ever be affected by this so quickly. I was driving through my town and pulled over to talk on the phone. While talking I look over and realize that I pulled in front of a disk golf store. I had an incredibly strong urge to go in and look for the MVP disk “just to feel them” . I’ve never played disk golf in my life. Nor had any interest until I watched this video. Let me just say, that I am now the owner of a Resistor fairway driver in glow plastic. I even took a picture of all the local disk golf locations in my area. What is happening to me!?!

Loved this! I played disc golf a ton when I lived in KS (15+ years ago). For some reason, I've only played a couple times since moving here to TX. Just watching how these things are made makes me want to get out there and play again! So fun and interesting. Keep up the good work!

These series on manufacturing are excellent. It makes my brain hurt every time the machines involved and every manufacturing facility will have a custom built machine to make the whatever along with a custom process. Just imaging the complexity that exists around the world! Maybe you can get into Boeing and look at an aircraft line one day?

Love this video and series. Also a disc golf nerd, so win-win-win! Also +1 on the physics of disc flight. Flight numbers are great, but I’d also like to understand how, for example, someone can get the same disc to turn (go opposite to its natural tendency to fade) early, middle, and late in flight? Is it speed, rpms, angle of attack/ release? Seeing the pros move discs as if they were on strings is mesmerizing but I want to know how they do it, what adjustments do they make? Thanks again for a great video and for giving the DG community some love.

That was a phenomenal video! I started playing disc golf at the beginning of summer and have been curious about how discs are made, so it was a treat to see the process in detail. I’m interested in how they adjust disc designs to achieve different flight profiles (i.e., the speed, glide, turn, and fade numbers). Additionally, I’d love to see a video exploring the physics behind how these flight profiles interact with the air, disc speed, RPM, and more to produce the disc’s trajectory.

Loved the video and have a question: Why is the translational motion of the screw that melts the plastic left to right as opposed to up and down? I would imagine that gravity would aid in the flow melted plastic.

...well, I take this as a hint. I live near a disc golf course (I pass it on my commute), I have dabbled with it a few times (the only discs I have "bought" are ones that escaped into spiky bushes and suchlike.) and I guess the only thing stopping me from buying a Smarter Only Day disc is that I don't see them for sale yet. I'll get started on the disc golf "proper" and then when I don't lose so many discs maybe there'll be a channel-branded disc ;)

you've already done something with the Rocket City Trash Pandas, you have to do something with Trash Panda Disc Golf. you should talk to them about their recycling program and how their discs are all fully recycled and fully recyclable. also, i would totally buy a Smarter Every Day Trash Panda Inner Core to go with my Smarter Every Day Rocket City Trash Pandas baseball.

Another great production, Destin. Factory walkthroughs are always a favorite of mine. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, the more technical the better. Seeing current technology is cool but getting insight on the programmatic and logical sequencing of the individual systems in the production line is just phenomenal. As someone who trains people on complex mechanical systems, I greatly appreciate the time and energy spent making the animations. And they're so well done, wow.
