Yeah... most of my important belongings have names... partially cuz human pack-bonding and partially just so I can identify them as MINE. My computer is Wendy, my car is Ol' Reliable, the google maps voice navigator is Karen, etc etc etc.

Having a gender might seem weird to him, but I'm not sure how having a name would. I mean, even my computer has a name, or least, something that other systems use to identify it.
