Looking over at my new heart that was also shrouded in an ominous crimson, I couldn’t help but smile at how fulfilling my life has turned out.
One year ago…
At the age of eighteen, everyone in my tribe has to have a rite of passage. It’s something very important to our people and signifies that individual becoming an adult. You must go out with your selected group and get your first blood. The four members will sack a human settlement, killing everyone.
The other three are always seasoned hunters to look out for the one going through the trial. I’ve always been looked down upon within my family for being too soft. I’m the only girl in a family with five other siblings. They were always very rough as we grew up, causing a lot of damage to my body with their constant aggressive personalities.
I started avoiding them like the plague, which caused me to get looked down upon by my whole family. Even my mother, who I thought would be on my side, saw me as pathetic. A lot of my younger years I spent away from home because of the constant pressure to conform to their way of life.
But, to me, it just didn’t feel right. I remember my mother’s words the day I turned eighteen before my rite of passage.
“Who do you fight for?” My mother asked with disdain in her voice. “It isn’t for your family or tribe. Being too afraid to get your hands dirty and train with your brothers.”
“Training…” I asked, confused, “That was just the five of them leaving me battered and bruised after their constant torturous actions.” For some reason I just wasn’t a normal wolf beastkin. I tried to stay away from violence and segregated myself away from my brutal family.
That was until today, when I got my first chance at the trial. You might ask why I'm doing this, well… I didn't have a choice with the threat of death being held over my head if I refused.
Sadly, my very first attempt was a complete failure, as I was unable to get myself to take a life. They wanted me to kill these three young kids who looked innocent. I just felt like it wasn’t right. After I refused to take action, the other three just ignored me for the rest of the ordeal.
It’s not that I didn’t feel bad about refusing to do what my family expected of me, but I just couldn’t kill. With the return home from the failed trial, the look on my family's faces is still burned into my memory. They all looked at me as if I was a completely useless existence.
As I spent that day outside because I wasn’t allowed to enter the house, I thought back to my mother’s words. What do I fight for? Should I be as unhinged as my family and kill without remorse, or I could just leave them for good and start my own life?
I’m pretty confident that my family never wanted a girl. At the same time, I have a sharp appearance of someone you would think is a killer. Feeling like you don’t belong in your own family was a disheartening feeling.
This lasted for a year where I would take the trial once a month with the same result every time. My brothers would beat me until I got it through my head that I must kill to enter the true wolf pack. But I don’t care for any of these people.
Why should I fight for them? If I had the option to kill one of my brothers, I might be able to do it. This feeling of betrayal and hatred started growing, and then I reached the age of nineteen.
A few days before I met Selene, my family forced me to go on a trip with them. I had no idea where I was going, but I did know we were heading into human territory. From everything I’ve learned my whole life; beastkin would never go to an enemy nation for a leisurely vacation.
Once we had come to a complete stop, I looked out the window, and our carriage was surrounded by many soldiers clad in armor. Without even a chance to understand my current situation, the door to the carriage opened up, and I was shoved out the door.
“Since you love humans so much, why don’t you become one of their playthings?” My father yelled as I was taken into custody by the men in silver and white.
“But… why?” I couldn’t help but feel wronged by this so-called family. The idea of having to kill to be accepted just sounded insane. Looking at the men currently holding me down and the ones all around had lecherous faces.
“For the first time in your life, you were actually useful.” My eldest brother said as he took a chest. When it was opened, there was a lot of gold inside.
So… my family actually sold me to these people with the intention of having them use me to their hearts content. Someone who would do this to their own daughter is no family of mine. I felt intense anger sprout inside of me as if something broke.
If I had the opportunity, I would kill every single person who was currently present. Also, why is my family so friendly towards the humans in the first place? We kill them all the time, but they seem like they’ve known each other for a while.
“I will kill you!” I raged, “Someday, I will kill you all!” My words were probably very empty to all those who were currently here, but I swore it deep in my heart.
“My poor, pitiful daughter, if only you had this fighting spirit, this wouldn’t have ever happened.” Those were my mother’s final words as the carriage rode off into the distance while I heard everyone laughing and joking at my expense.
'Kill... Kill... Killllll!' That word kept echoing in my mind as if it had become some sort of mantra. They will pay!
Clunk
With a sudden sharp pain to the back of my head, I was sent to the ground. The next thing I knew, I was tied to a table trying my hardest to fight off three men who wished to violate me.
That’s when a miracle happened, right before my life would truly fall into misery. An angel appeared, but an obvious devil to everyone else, came into my life.
She gave me a gracious opportunity to get power and a future where I could make my dreams come true. I honestly didn’t even think twice about taking her hand.
Selene was someone I wanted to be, who was bursting with confidence and not afraid to fight for herself. I wanted to become like that. More than anything else, I wanted to become someone she would never throw away.
Thankfully, she was of the same mind, bonding us together for the rest of our lives. I felt her overwhelming emotions wash over my body when we completed the blood bond. What she truly wanted more than anything in this life was someone who she could love and stick with her no matter the situation.
I admit for the briefest moment I was a bit overwhelmed and also thought it was strange for two girls to be together as lovers. But, I thought, why not? She, at the very least, seems very genuine towards me and even gave me great power. It’s only right I try my best to reciprocate those feelings.
At the same time, deep down I was feeling the same way. Having someone who will always be there for you, I guess this is what my mother was talking about when she said that to me.
From now till the end of time, I will fight for this amazing girl named Selene Voltaire. The one I’ve come to really enjoy being around and feel extremely protective over. Even though we’ve only known each other for a few days, it was the best time of my life. Thinking back to what Lyra had said about beastkin being very obsessive is a true statement.
Every time I see Selene close to another human, whether male or female, I want to rip them apart. She’s mine is what keeps repeating in my mind during these types of moments.
Looking over at Selene, who was looking dazzling in red aura as her hair and clothes were being pushed up by the pressure.
My willingness to follow this person rose even higher into the sky. To die for her if it was ever needed, but the most important thing of all was I wanted to live for this beautiful woman in front of me. If she needed me to kill, I would kill without mercy!
My body was feeling as if it’s over all power was rising multiple times over. All of my skills also increased by one level. I thought about my soul book, and it showed in front of my face.
Name: Shuka Voltaire

Age: 19
Blood Bond - ♥Selene Voltaire♥

Active Skills: Domination (LV2), Claws (LV2), Lightning (LV3)
Passive Skills: Ultra Regeneration (MAX↑), Heightened Senses (LV4), Super Strength (LV4), Covenant Member

Just as I had thought everything went up by one point, but what’s this covenant? It’s the only thing that has changed besides the overall growth in power. Thinking back, I couldn’t help but smile at my first interaction with my soul book.
I was completely surprised when some weird transparent screen popped up in front of my face after Selene asked me to say, “Soul Book.” She was laughing for a while after that, which did annoy me a bit, but seeing her so happy, I couldn’t help myself and just smiled.
Swoosh
A very powerful vortex surrounded our current location, throwing everyone within view out of the center. Except for the now newly dominated Gwen, I couldn’t help but click my tongue at that. The three-story building crumbled into dust at the violent energy resonating all around us.
I’m pretty confident this is the chaos magic that Selene uses. I wonder what's going on and if this has something to do with that new skill.
I couldn’t help but be afraid; somehow, I was floating this high into the sky. A large building begins forming as walls of rocks start creating this ominous-feeling structure below my feet.
Gasp!
Suddenly I was transported inside as I looked around in awe and terror; whatever was happening was an incredible sight.
Where is Selene? I thought in a panic as the chaos was taking place all around me. After a worrying few seconds where I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I saw her looking around in wonder. Her body was still the same dark red as before.
After I studied my surroundings closely, I could feel a slight presence of Selene all around me as if she was the foundation of the building itself.
Suddenly everything stopped as all the walls, ceilings, and floors fell into their rightful place. After that, unique-looking furniture started popping up all around, making this place feel like a true home.
I see now; this is where Selene and I will settle down creating the forces that will rival the very strongest in this world. After everything had taken place and I got my first look at this luxurious mansion, I thought everything was worth it to get to this point.
“Shuka!” I heard Selene yell as she impacted my body, sending us both to the ground with her arms wrapped around me tightly. “What do you think of our new home? Amazing, isn’t it?”
“It’s amazing, but it can’t compare to you!” My reply made me blush furiously, but I couldn’t help myself. She was only inches away from my face, and I had fuzzy feelings erupting inside of my body.
I felt her kiss my lips with a lick. “You know, that was pretty cringe.” Selene chuckled. “But I still loved it, hehehe.” We continued to enjoy our time together with our lips pressed tightly as a certain girl was staring at us intently.
