My Other Half - A story of Love and Revenge: Chapter 2

Today has been a great but also a draining day. Because of a certain girl, who for some reason has the same schedule as me? I guess you could take it as a good or bad omen. After she followed me to third period, where she sat right next to me once again I asked to see her schedule. Akari looked at me as if I had just killed her dog, so I dropped it. We’re currently walking together to fourth period.
The major benefit of all her actions is that no one has tried to mess with me today, surprisingly. But I do see a lot of people looking at me with rage and envy. I assume they must be waiting for us to get separated to let me know how they truly feel. Entering the room of my fourth period, I once again chose the seat as far back as possible. This time instead of tables for two, it was a single desk. At least I can have a little bit of breathing room during this period. All three classes before this one, she would sit close enough to rub arms against each other. Not saying I don’t love it, but it feels way too overwhelming.
I’m no fool; I understand she’s doing this for a reason. But why is she giving me so much attention? One thing I found a bit odd is she won’t take off her hoodie. It’s currently eighty-five degrees outside, and most of the classrooms have weak air-conditioning. I can only assume she must feel miserable in that hoodie all day long.
As I watched Akari take the desk next to mine, she caused the whole classroom to stare at her in utter bewilderment. Of course, I was no different.
Screech Ding Screech
She had pushed her desk right next to mine. As in, they were both close enough to be completely flush with each other. Akari took her seat as if nothing was wrong and stared down the classroom. At this time the teacher entered the room and saw what had happened and of course they made their way straight to us.
“Excuse me, miss, but I would appreciate it if you could move your desk back. Students can’t be so close to each other.” The teacher said with a slight smile.
“Sorry, but this is how it must be, or I won’t be able to follow along in class. As you can see, I have no book in front of me, and Haru offered to share his.” She returned the smile.
I just look at her in astonishment at how she lied to the teacher with such ease. Maybe her plan is to make me the center of attention before disappearing on me. Then, I have to deal with the fallout. It’s been like this in every class today with this somewhat over-the-line closeness towards me.
The teacher, after receiving a somewhat believable answer and with it being just the first day, just let it go. “Alright, but tomorrow please remember to bring your own book.” Akari gave her an affirmative nod.
She pulled the book I had in front of me in between us, and then she reached for her backpack. I watched as she opened it and pulled out a book. It was the current one we were sharing between us. Once again, I was bewildered by her actions, and didn’t understand what she was trying to tell me.
“You know, Akari, you sure send some mixed signals.” I couldn’t help but express my thoughts to her.
“Why do you think they’re mixed? I’m being pretty straightforward with everything I've been doing.” She gave me the same warm smile I've received from her all day. Her body snuggled up next to mine with her excuse being to see the book better, but it's not like I would complain.
What the hell? Was the only thing going through my mind, and will I actually get a girlfriend? She was still a complete enigma to me. At the same time, I really did enjoy the way she acted. As I was having these kinds of thoughts, I looked around the room. There were a few guys and girls looking at the situation with confused faces; why was I receiving this kind of attention? The only thing I had going for me was being tall, everything else a female would find disappointing.
The bell rang for the end of class, and now it was lunchtime. I needed to make a stop to the restroom before picking a spot to eat. Making my way out of the class and heading in that direction, I looked back. Akari was still nonchalantly following behind me. She noticed me looking back at her and said, “I’m still here.”
I just smiled back at her, “We will need to separate for a moment.” I said as I saw her face sour.
“Why?” She asked.
“Um… I must use the restroom, but you don’t have to wait for me.” I said with an apologetic face.
“That’s fine; I’ll wait.” She said in a dry tone.
Is she really annoyed that we won’t be near each other for a few minutes? It could also be the fact that I mentioned not to wait for me. Did she not like the idea of us separating for any reason? Akari was seriously a weird girl.
“Ok, I will be right back” I said as I entered the bathroom. She nodded and stood there. So at least she does have it in her to give me a little space. If I didn’t know any better, she comes off as a very specific type of girl. That would be a yandere and the fact she asked if I wanted those three killed earlier. I think she would actually do it if I asked her seriously.
What do I know about yandere? The most basic definition is obsession with their target of love. Will go to any lengths to be with that person and take out any obstacle by force, if necessary. If this is really the case, all I have to do is accept the way she is, and all should be fine. Going against this type of girl in a story would usually mean imprisonment. But that only happens if you rebel against her feelings.
Why would I rebel against such a beautiful girl giving me her undivided attention? Of course, this could all be in my head, and she’s not like this at all. Maybe she’s just someone who isn’t afraid to show what she’s feeling, I guess.
Only time will tell; finding out what her true motivation is paramount if I don't want to keep worrying about it. As I make my way out of the bathroom, I hear a few loud guys talking.
“Hey! You want to come have lunch with us?”
“You’re really cute under that hoodie.”
“We would really enjoy having a cute girl like you eat lunch with us.”
Walking out of the bathroom, I noticed three guys trying to interact with Akari. She was just staring at them without saying a word. I wonder if she’s going to give out another “Fuck off” that she had used earlier. Akari noticing that I had come out of the bathroom, ran over to me, and wrapped her arm in mine, “Haru let’s go eat lunch together.”
I looked at the three guys giving me death glares, “Sure, let’s go.” She gave me a cute smile as I looked over at her holding my arm. At the same time, I heard footsteps approaching me from behind.
Akari let go of my arm as I started to turn around. I saw one of the guys on the ground writhing in pain as Akari had suddenly grabbed back onto my arm. His leg had been completely snapped in half. What the hell just happened?
“Ouch,” I said as I looked at the guy's leg.
“Some people just don’t know their place,” Akari said.
“Did you do that, Akari?” I whispered to her.
“Yes,” she said as if it was only natural.
“You must be really fast; I didn’t even see you do anything.”
“Praise me more, Haru.” She blushed.
Alright at this point, I would have to be a complete idiot to not realize she’s actually into me. But it’s only been half a day since we met. How could she have such a response within such a short amount of time?
“Let’s get out of here before anyone else comes.” I suggested to Akari. She nodded her head.
“Do you have food, or do we need to go to the lunchroom?” I asked.
“I brought something.”
“Alright, let’s go find some shade.” I suggested.
We made our way to a bench that was located under a tree, away from where most people were eating. It could easily seat about eight all together. I just smiled to myself because after I sat down, she choose the spot right next to me. There is this overwhelming feeling inside me to just ask her. Why is she so friendly to me? But at the same time, I’m afraid to know how she would respond.
“Are you a fan of anime, Akari?”
“I’m not sure what anime is, Haru.” She replied with a questioning look.
“That’s surprising. I thought for sure you liked it with owning a hoodie with animal ears.” I pointed at the top of her head.
She had a mischievous smile. “How would you feel if they were actually real?”
I stared at her for a bit and replied, “I think it would look perfect on you.” My face instantly turned red, understanding what I had just said.
Akari gave me a smile and grabbed my hand, lifting it to the top of her head, within the hood. As my hand rubbed against her silky silver hair, it ran into something extremely fluffy. What is this sensation? I grabbed at it as Akari gasped at my action.
“Sorry, did I do something I wasn’t supposed to?”
“It’s alright, Haru; I’m the one who put your hand there in the first place.” She gave me the reassurance I needed, that everything was fine.
“Are you into cosplay?” I curiously asked with feeling something like animal ears under her hood.
“I’m not sure what cosplay is, Haru.” She doesn’t know what anime or cosplay is, but she’s wearing animal ears. Something is off about this whole situation, unless she just finds them cute?
“It’s where you dress up as your favorite character from a story. Such as wearing animal ears to resemble someone’s appearance you like.”
“What if I told you they were real?” She gave me a smirk.
“Well, if that was the case, it would make sense why you won’t take off your hoodie. I’ve been wondering all day, aren’t you hot?” I thought to myself. There's no way they're real, right?
She lifted her hood up a bit so I could see what was under there, “Check it out if you want to find out the truth.”
Should I really do this? If I find out the truth, it will probably change everything as I know it. But at the same time, it excites me to find out about a world I had never known existed. Making up my mind, I put my hand on her extremely fluffy ear once again. I tried to yank on them with a little effort, but they weren’t budging at all. Rubbing my hand at the base of her ears, I noticed these are actually attached to her head.
“Wow… so they’re real.” I was astonished. How could this be? Do beast people actually live in this world?
“You look really surprised, Haru. Do you not like the fact that they're actually real?” She inquired.
“There’s no way I would dislike the fact your ears are real. I was just so surprised about the fact they weren’t fake. This is probably a dream, right? How is a girl as attractive as you are giving me so much attention? You even have fox ears, which is my favorite type of animal girl. How could I have such a perfect scenario in real life?” I was completely flabbergasted at my current situation.
As I was looking down in contemplation, I felt both her hands grip my face. She brought it up to where I was inches away from touching her lips. “Listen, Haru, everything right now is real, and you should get more confidence in yourself. I’ve never shown this much attention to anyone in my life. You’re more special to me than you even realize.”
“I'm special to you?” What could she be talking about? But I can feel strong emotion in her words, so I can’t say she’s lying.
“Of course you are, and you're the only one.” Akari said as she placed her moist, wet lips onto mine.
We stayed there for a good fifteen seconds with our lips pressed against each other. This was my dream come true—to have such a beautiful girl give me my first kiss. The cherry on top of it all is she’s actually a fox girl. I have multiple pictures on my computer because I’ve always been interested in them. Not the full-on furry fox girl, just the tails and ears-only type.
As we separated our lips, Akari took one final lick with her tongue. “Now that tasted great.” She said with a seductive voice.
I just looked at her with wide-open eyes as she kept smiling at me. What in the world am I even supposed to say? There’s no doubt about it; I’m going to fall extremely hard for this girl.
