2nd and 3rd Edition boxes were also £50, I remember getting a free paint set when I bought the 2nd Ed one and I sold so many of the 3rd and 4th Ed when at GW as a red shirt. To put it in perspective the Battle Forces were £40 at the time so it was pretty good value as the rulebook was £25.

The Marines in the Battle for Maccragge Box were unbelievably terrible snapfit monopose Marines. Like the ones in Black Reach but with even less interesting details and no different heads at all.

oh the 3rd edition starter set was my first entry too, I remember fighting with my brother over who got to play space marines and immediately breaking the dark eldar models. I've had a 15 year break from the game but I've been lurking the game forums/news for a while and I'm thinking about picking up know no fear.

Sitting here painting some of the chaos stuff from dark vengeance, perfect timing!
