The Hidden Kingdom of Calenoth - Regional Map
🕑 Added 2020-12-15 10:30:27 +0000 UTCLying on the eastern edge of Taritha is the hidden kingdom of Calenoth, realm of the Wood Elves. Largely unknown to the outside world, the primordial forest conceals a unique culture that is inexorably tied to the lands it inhabits.
Shunning beings from the outside world, the Elves have little to no contact with those beyond their borders. Over the years they have become scarcely more than myth for many in the neighbouring Kingdom of Haven, merely a ghost to story to scare children.
Though characterised as an Elven kingdom, Calenoth would be more accurately described as a realm of forest spirits. Treekin, Dryads and other primordial forest spirits long predate the Wood Elves in the Twilight Forest. Many of which being tens of thousands of years old.
Indeed the Elves see themselves as wards of these spirits not stewards, and treat them with supreme reverence, often seeking their council and aid in the times of need.
Though the majority slumber in the ‘Green Dream’ many more stalk the forest, nurturing saplings and forest creatures alike and attacking any intruders on sight.

Hi all!
Continuing this month theme of the Silmarillion, I have created a hidden elven kingdom in the spirit of the great Elven realms of the First and Second Age such a Gondolin.
Much like that great city, Calenoth is under threat from dark forces that leak into the forest via the Door of Night (a name shamelessly stolen from Tolkien's works). As that wasn't enough, men from the neighboring Kingdom of Haven encroach upon it's borders from their castle of Thorn's Grasp while marauders mount raids from the Maldak's Wharf.
Calenoth, hidden for so long is now a kingdom under siege, just itching for a group of heroes to come along and stir things up :D
