In other news, I've been working on Emerald Dawn again! I thought I'd start with finishing sprites and backgrounds since they are easier to do than writing :P
Originally, I wanted to do full 3D for the backgrounds but after several hours of failing with texturing and lighting, I realized it'd be faster just to paint BGs by hand lol. 3D still saves me a ton of time since I can rapidly mock up a scene.
Here are a couple before and after shots for comparison:
And you know what? I'm in love with the rough hand-painted look! Moreover, these took no time at all compared to making everything in 3D. These painted BGs took 2 days (though the first one is not quite done yet) For reference, Rhea's room took me about a week to make and even longer to feel truly satisfied with. I just don't have that kind of time (and patience :P)
That's all for now for the update! I'll resume work on Emerald Dawn as soon as I finish drawing the Poll winners! Stay tuned ^^

Good process, I agree they look great! I recall you did something similar for some of the SC2VN BGs ages ago, hah! Let the writing juices flow in good time!
