+1 Corruption
You keep looking out into the silhouette of the darkened streets, and the more you stare, the more it seems that the abyss is staring right back.
You can almost feel the hundreds of masked Eyes hidden there, waiting with the patience of a starving predator, drooling with the scent of your flesh. Blood pulses in your eardrums, and the mark throbs in your hand.
They're waiting for you to step out.
Your eyes start to water when, with a final, desperate pull of your head, you tear your eyes away from the window. Blinking back tears, you turn and force yourself to find the others.
But as you roam past the fitting room, your pace is sluggish, and your feet drag on the floor.
You don't want to go back out. You don't want to face those waiting, starving streets.

she very much had her reasons to be paranoid of course, as does the MC

as an aside i wonder how mama romanus would feel about this. she struck me as a paranoid woman herself, so would she feel slightly responsible for her child being so anxious
