Progress Report
🕑 Added 2022-05-06 15:01:04 +0000 UTCAnother week, another progress report.
This week has been amazing! I finally, finally, finished that lengthy first scene of Chapter One!! Lengthy but definitely worth it. I've also made a good headway into scene 2. This one is a bit more fun to write - because there's dialogue, and I adore dialogue. Dialogue trees, however... grow on me all the time xD
But it isn't as if I wasn't expecting it. This scene is long even in the first draft - about 25 notebook pages - and that's only counting one version of it. It features Hadrian, and it's different depending on if you're in a romance with him, were at some point, or whether you're friends or not-so-friends. I'm writing the romance version, and right at the beginning, there are a couple of choices that pretty much split the start of the conversation in two different ways.
This means I have to leave a lot of choices and branches behind as I keep plunging in one direction. I'm keeping track of all the forks in the road if you will, and I know it's only a matter of time before I go back and fill those paths, but a part of me is so STRESS over leaving them unfulfilled. 😄 I just don't like having a fragmented Word document with empty *gotos.
So, I've been making great progress! (Because writing conversation is so much fun) but I also have a lot to do. The goal for next week is to have finished the first version of scene two - that means to be completely done with the romance version of Hadrian's convo. After that, since I'll have the "bare bones" of the dialogue written, then the friend version and the rival version should be much quicker to write.
Regarding Book One, I haven't done as much testing as I'd like - I was in the middle of my third run when my pc suddenly shut off :( It killed my motivation - but of all that I've done, so far, it has been going perfectly. I'll take some time next week though to be ABSOLUTELY sure. I really think I won't find any bug, but I'd rather play on the side of caution, now that the release date looms over us all.
And that's the other news! You've probably already seen me shouting about it on Tumblr, but I sent the files back to Hosted Games with all the corrections they asked, and Jason was quick to email back that we're pretty much set for June 2nd!!!! It's less than a month from now!
That's it. Wish you all a great weekend, and thank you so much, again, for being here. I cannot put into words how amazing and mind-blowing your support is. 🌹
