These are my current options (this text is from the first draft, so it's unedited and a bit rough. π):
You can only ask one. What would you like to learn?
1) "Tell me of the Devil's Guardian," you say. "The woman who was dragged by the Inquisition."
2) "What do you know of the Theers?" you ask. "Of Lord Rowan and his ascension. Of Ysabella and Alain Theer."
3) "Lieutenant Vallen," you whisper her name. "What do you know of her?"
4) "Do you have an inkling as to why this Pirate King is here? Why he wants a meeting with the Church." A pause. "Why Neia, the Dawnseeker, works with him."
5) Julianna Romanus. Is she alive? Was she ever taken? "Ju.." You cannot say it. "Why is the Inquisition here?" you ask instead.
6) You lift your eyes and settle them on Mist. "Tell me your real name."

I'd love to see if the readers have any other questions they'd like to ask. Sometimes, it's easy for me to overlook something because I already know the answers to all the mysteries and incognitas. So, I'm recruiting your help once again!
EDIT: I was unclear! I'm asking if you would have any other questions besides the ones listed! If there's anything else you can think of to ask Mist^^

Vallen for sure. I'm pretty sure she was the mysterious woman who took the maps.
Mimi
These are all such good questions! Maybe, a question about Tarek? We've had some burning questions about him.

I'd would ask about people with black marks in their hands for no reason in particular. From that list I'd have to go with either 4 or 5
D-ZA
I will go for 4 or 5
Rose Price
Why Lance knows Latin
Bones
I would go with 4 or 5
Ana, my dear ... Please give Romanus a chance to flirt. Just this once I swear. That question Crockett suggested was fun. Also on a serious note... I would choose number 5.

It'd be interesting to ask about Captain Cynthia and/or Vaughn, especially on a Beka playthrough where they're especially antagonizing, and given the start of the book 2 demo π (trying to be good and merciful, but those characters really test my willpower; absolutely gonna end up with some corruption for killing them if it becomes possible π)

Since Hadrian is my main RO, I would probably ask something Hadrian's leaving the templars.Like why did he? What happened and caused him to leave? I mean it's hard not to be curious. But it seems everyone's past is shrouded in mystery.
Christabel Smyth
Iβd ask about number 1 or number 5 :)

Maybe something about the Stone family? I have my tinfoil hat on surrounding them, and it might just be me overthinking, but I really want to learn more about their fallβ¦

I like the Tarek idea!

I would probably ask about lands outside of the few Romanus had been to. Especially for one interested in lore and history.

I think my character would not trust a single word would actually be true, and would super-double-triple not trust that if I asked about anything that it would be in confidence. i.e. "Where can I get a good burger?" would just be information about me that would get sold along later to someone who would ambush me while I'm trying to have lunch. Hence, I think I'd either ask something flippant ("What's in my pocket?") or intended to get under his skin ("You smell like rotting onions, when is the last time you bathed?")

I like the idea of asking about the sea creature too! Not sure I'd choose it over these existing questions first go but I am curious.
Lauriane
I think I'd ask if he has info on who dared to impersonate an Eye π
Sydney Marsing
Well done, this is an agonizing choice.
Jo
It would strongly depend on which MC I'm playing with XD My Hadrian RO MC would ask about Vallen - because she's super sus. My Alain/Bella MCs would obviously want to know more about the Theers. My Pirate playthrough obvsly is interested in the pirate. I personally find the question about Julianna super interesting, so would definitely choose that on one playthrough. I guess I would like to ask all those questions eventually π

There are tons of little things I could think to ask about, like both strange encounters at the Market, the sea creature and the prophet, but if I only had one question, those would never be options I picked. I think your 6 cover the biggest mysteries and plot points in the story so far.

Great questions! I would either go for #3 or #5 since we know next to nothing about vallen and why the inquisition was after us
Niamh
I would ask different ones on each playthrough for sure they're all interesting
Match
Defiantly option 5. The mystery of the inquisition (and not to mention momma) is a huge thing I want to know more of.
Julia
I would ask if the Templars are looking for Hadrian or maybe something mean and petty I could hold over the innkeepers head π
Reed
I'd like to know more about their relationship with Lord Tarek and the White Company.
shrek4ever
i would def ask about Vallen cuz I do not trust her at all but damn only once choice :( that is hard decision also just for fun and giggles i was wondering if mc can ask if mist has any juicy info about tarek to share just to see you know, and prolly get mc frozen by alessas stare π
Mark Krouse
My MC would just be like, βDo you know where my cat is?β
Megaria
I'd prooooobably lean for 4 or 5 - and 2 on a potential Theer RO playthrough. But if we only get ONE question, I'd gravitate toward wanting info on the bigger plot mysteries >:D
Dr. Pierre
I would ask about Vallen. I'm certain there is a LOT more about her than she is willing to let on.
Cyprus Lawson
#4 π
Miss Cellaneous

Miss Cellaneous
4 is my deffo question id ask. But i wonder if Mist would know the Purate kings name π€ π
TheFabulousBlasphemer
Likely would choose option 5
