Chapter 34: "Accidental"
🕑 Added 2025-04-19 07:49:15 +0000 UTCMenachel took off his heavy armor and put on the uniform Camelot knight armor. This blue-gray soft armor is the standard in knight duels. If both sides use the same weapons, they can eliminate the inequality in weapons and truly show the level of swordsmanship of both sides.
Weighing the rapier in his hand, he found that it was no different from the sword King Gwyn had given him before. The rapier was too light, making Menachel feel insecure for a moment.
Obviously, all my weapons were obtained through fighting, so why did it become an unfair thing that must be eliminated here? Moreover, the opponent’s goal was also very easy to understand, which was nothing more than wanting to use Menachel’s fighting habits to counterattack.
Thinking of this, Menachel walked towards the duel, while on the other side of the wide platform, Cardo had been waiting there for a long time.
The platform occupied a large area. When a guard knight acting as an arbitrator announced the start of the competition, Menachel’s gaze passed directly over Cardo and fell on Artoria on the platform and the horse-faced noble beside her.
We have to find a reason to kill this horse-faced man – unlike the time when he framed framed the death of Tylu, if we want to stabilize the situation in the rear and assassinate the horse-faced noble at the same time, we must find a serious reason.
But while Menachel was thinking, Cardo was not foolish enough to wait for the other party to come to his senses. The knight with thick eyebrows and big eyes launched a sneak attack without any moral ethics.
It was called a sneak attack, but in Menasher’s opinion, every move of the opponent seemed to be in line with the rules. This reminded him of the fighting in the outer city, and he suddenly felt bored.
Cardo was obviously a man with ideas. He swung the sword in his hand, aiming directly at Menachel’s throat. At the same time, he made small movements with his feet. He bent one leg and, relying on his height disadvantage, rushed straight into Menachel’s crotch.
Menachel, who had seen all of Cardo’s actions, rarely looked gloomy under the public’s gaze. A trace of blood flashed in his eyes, but he did not attack immediately. Menachel just took a step back and used his abdominal muscles to block Cardo’s flying knee.
Without giving the opponent time to react, Menachel suddenly crossed the rapier in his right hand and blocked Cardopsi’s slash. The swords collided with each other, and Menachel only exerted a little force, and Cardopsi’s hands that were holding the sword were forced to lift up, revealing his chest wrapped in soft armor.
“Go to hell, you are a legacy of the past.”
The voice was so low that only the two of them could hear it. As he said this, Menachel clenched his free left hand into a fist, red magic flowed through his arm, and then he punched out without hesitation.
The whistling wind from the fist indicated that this punch was not something that a human body could withstand, but Cardo, who was still immersed in the tremendous power of Menachel’s right hand, was no longer able to resist this attack. Years of combat experience made Cardo immediately let go of the rapier in his hand, but Menachel, who was well prepared, also let go of the hilt at the same time, and easily grabbed Cardo’s two hands with his free right hand.
At this moment, Cardo was controlled like a child being lifted up by an adult. He could only watch helplessly as the punch hit him.
First, his chest felt numb, followed by a more intense pain than expected, which made him feel as if he had been hit head-on by a mad, helmeted warhorse. The pain in his chest made it difficult for Cardo to breathe. He struggled to fight back, but found that he had lost sight of Menachel.
“Sorry, sorry, I just lost my strength for the moment.”
A limp, hanging hand appeared in Cardo’s field of vision, and the man’s voice vaguely echoed in his ears, but his violent breathing like a dry cough made Cardo’s voice not clear.
“You’re not going to die because you can’t even withstand a punch from me, are you?”
Death? How could it be possible——
Cardo glared and wanted to refute, but after struggling several times, he was unable to get up. He couldn’t just lie on the ground, so under pressure, Cardo had to reach out and hold the hand in front of him.
But Cardo found that he had lost control of his hands, and only then did he feel a tearing sensation coming from his hands.
The hand In his field of vision was his own hand – he was knocked flying by Menachel’s punch just now, but his hands that were grasped did not fly away with him, but were torn off abruptly.
Looking up slowly, he saw Menachel who was looking down at him and had a mocking smile on his face.
The light in Cardo’s eyes gradually dimmed. He raised his head stubbornly and then dropped it suddenly. There was a fist-sized wound on his chest. The blood from the wound had stopped flowing with the death of its owner.
Then Menachel raised his head and looked at the horse-faced nobleman behind Artoria in a mocking manner. At this time, the horse-faced nobleman could no longer remain calm. Feeling that his reputation was being trampled upon, he almost shouted madly: “How can you be worthy of the honor of a knight if you kill your comrades like this?”
Menachel, with his nose filled with the smell of blood and in an excited state, was about to reply “Then you come and try” when he saw Artoria’s warning gaze that contained “be more restrained”. Suddenly, Menachel’s excited passion disappeared as if the air in his chest was deflated. He recalled Artoria’s decision to stabilize the situation at this stage.
So, the words that were about to come out of his mouth changed, and Menachel said in a somewhat stiff tone: “I really didn’t expect that the knight appointed by King Uther himself would be so incompetent.”
After saying this, Menichel immediately realized the inappropriateness of his words. His words seemed even more sarcastic than he had expected.
The horse-faced nobleman who was mocked had gone completely crazy. He pointed a finger at the knights standing behind him. His whole horse face was swollen and red. His voice was several pitches higher than before: “Who will challenge him, you guys!”
The private knights he pointed at avoided his sight guiltily one by one, and the horse-faced noble widened his eyes. These knights who usually boasted about their abilities to each other, but at this moment, none of them dared to step forward to challenge him.
Horse Face wanted to say something, but was stopped by another elderly noble, who stopped him from continuing to discredit the nobles. He turned his gaze to Artoria, who was watching a show, and said in a deep voice: “Lord King Arthur, it was just a duel, but Knight Menachel chose to kill his comrades when he could easily win. This is extremely cruel, and his words show no respect for the king's authority. He should be stripped of his knighthood.”
There was no tone in the old man’s words, so Menachel heard them clearly. So naturally, he listed the other party as a priority target.
On the high platform, Artoria glanced at the old man beside her who was once again putting pressure on her with the same old tricks, and recalled the strategy of confiscating the property that Menachel had mentioned before. After a moment, she made a decision in her heart:
“In this case, he should be punished.”
Without waiting for the noble to say anything flattering, Artoria changed the subject:
“But your merits and demerits are worth it, so Menachel’s appointment will be put on hold for now. You can stay with me as a personal guard knight.”
