Chapter 32: Adorable Seiba
🕑 Added 2025-04-18 07:17:17 +0000 UTCAfter that day, Merlin came to visit Menachel several times, but as the first riddle teller of Camelot, Merlin always seemed to be hesitant to speak, and just repeated several times, “Don’t abuse magic like this in the future, otherwise your life will be shortened.”
Although Merlin had explained the general idea in great detail, Menachel didn’t quite understand the specific principles. Finally, a month later, Menachel left Merlin’s tower with Merlin’s kind reminder to “take care of yourself.”
On the second day after the treatment, Menachel received a call from Artoria.
Fortunately, Merlin’s tower was built on the outskirts of Camelot, not far from the main city, so Menachel didn’t have to relive the process of “Searching for King Arthur” again.
To be honest, this was the first time that Menachel really stepped into this strong city that symbolized royal power. Behind the tall and pure chalk walls were well-organized streets. As soon as he stepped into it, he could feel a peaceful atmosphere in the air.
There were not many pedestrians in the surrounding market, but perhaps because Camelot had won a victory recently, everyone’s face was filled with smiles. These groups of residents were not too surprised to see Menachel in red heavy armor, but just looked at him from time to time with curious eyes.
Artoria really implemented her ideals. Compared with other places, Camelot is more like a paradise.
In this peaceful atmosphere, Menachel soon arrived at the palace. The knights guarding the palace gates moved away from him when they saw the conspicuous heavy armor on him.
Seeing this, Menachel couldn’t help but curl his lips slightly under his visor. He knew that his glorious deeds of killing thousands of enemies alone had spread. Compared with the unreal deeds of slaying dragons, the quantitative concept of killing thousands of knights would be more impressive.
Even though he felt a little proud of the change in the attitude of the knights, Menachel still pretended to be a mature adult, ignoring the sights from the dark along the way, and walked into the palace slowly.
——“Tell me, how old is Lord Menachel?”
——“He should be at least thirty, but definitely not over forty, otherwise his body cannot stay in peak condition.”
A faint conversation sounded in his ears – if Menachel’s hearing had not been enhanced, he might not have been able to hear it clearly.
The voice came from behind him, and it should be the conversation between the two knights. Menachel then remembered that, excluding the deceased, the only people in Camelot who had seen his true face seemed to be a few people such as Artoria and Merlin.
Although Menachel had somewhat forgotten his exact age, his weak sense of time that had not yet been fully assimilated by the elves still made Menachel sure that his physical age was definitely not the exaggerated thirty years old.
There is a simple flat table in front of the hall corridor. Unlike the hall for the parliament, the room where Artoria handles government affairs is much smaller, even giving people a sense of oppression.
But this is probably because Artoria wants to urge herself to complete her daily work as soon as possible.
“Menachel, you can take off the head armor.”
When the two were alone, Artoria remained calm, but she did not have the majesty of a king.
But despite this, Menachel did not completely abandon etiquette. He took off the head armor and rubbed his squeezed hair.
“I’m sorry to call you here now, but I think it’s better to tell you some things in advance.”
Compared to Artoria, Menachel felt that it was more normal for Merlin to say such things, but he didn’t say anything, just looked at Artoria quietly, waiting for the next words.
“The nobles of Camelot will show up to see you at the morning meeting tomorrow.”
Artoria said, with a rare hint of gritting her teeth in anger.
Artoria certainly had no good feelings towards those parasites who had almost essentially controlled the entire kingdom.
“Are they here to cause trouble?”
“No, I guess, they’re here to extend an olive branch to you.”
Artoria said. She couldn’t refuse the nobles’ legitimate and reasonable requests. Camelot’s current situation was not optimistic. The internal turmoil had not yet subsided and the foreign enemies were ready to move. However, both the training of the army and the operation of the country required a lot of financial support, and Artoria was a king without money.
She believed that Menachel would not be tempted by money, but she still felt uneasy in her heart, as if something important was about to be taken away by someone else.
Menachel easily saw through Artoria’s girlish thoughts. He tried hard not to laugh, but the arc of his mouth still revealed his inner complacency.
“That’s just asking for trouble.” Artoria looked at Menachel, and saw him continue: “Any attempt to separate me from you is asking for trouble for me.”
Artoria snorted twice in triumph, but then realized that this was not in line with the majesty of a king. She coughed lightly to avoid Menachel’s sight and turned her eyes back to the manuscript on the table, but her wandering eyes could never focus on the text.
As if to save face, Artoria spoke again, “Please be serious, Menachel.”
There was a hint of anger in her tone, but it was a pity that Artoria’s face was slightly blocked by her golden hair, otherwise her expression would have been very beautiful.
“Do you need me to kill them all and confiscate all their money?”
Suddenly, Menachel changed the subject, and the cold murderous intent in his tone made the temperature in the room drop by several degrees. He was confident in his own strength. He was confident that he could assassinate those nobles who only had one or two hundred guards in a short time.
Perhaps he couldn’t beat the nobles who had been passed down for hundreds of years in the court, but Menachel was never a person who would follow the rules. Once things went beyond his expectations, he would overturn the chessboard without hesitation.
From this point of view, it was not an exaggeration to call him arrogant.
Facing Menachel’s proposal, Artoria’s heart moved a little, but then she shook her head. The girl stared at Menachel’s eyes and said, “It’s too unsafe. This will breed the resistance of the nobles outside Camelot.”
The rebellious nobles were only a small number, which made Camelot a little flustered. Therefore, if possible, Artoria did not want to cause such a big trouble at once – those nobles had to wait until the rebellion was quelled before killing them.
“Besides that, you’d better be more restrained now.”
Menachel cast a puzzled look at Artoria. Artoria pursed her lips and said, “Do you know how the outside world evaluates you now?”
“I haven’t asked.”
Menachel cast a reproachful look at Artoria. Artoria has been with Merlin for too long and has become a mystery teller.
“They say you are an ambitious person who kills decisively.”
