Chapter 31: You're Finally Awake
🕑 Added 2025-04-18 07:16:40 +0000 UTCChamo is certainly not the kind of person who would stay where he is and wait for death. When Menachel barely straightened his back again and inspected the outer city, he was sure that he had not found another living creature.
The city gate that was still closed when he left before was now open, silently announcing Chamo’s movements — of course, it cannot be ruled out that this is just Chamo’s trick, but as one of the few knights who knows Menachel’s experience of slaying dragons, he does not think that the other party will try to assassinate alone.
Unless his weakness has been seen by the other party.
Thinking of this, Menachel’s body couldn’t help shaking. He forced himself to slowly sit on the city wall. The magic power that seemed inexhaustible before disappeared immediately after leaving the battle, leaving only the dizziness and fatigue like a tide that washed over Menachel’s remaining rationality over and over again, and the fragments of the blade in his body also hurt faintly.
It was comfortable during the previous battle, but now it is hard to endure.
Menachel smiled self-deprecatingly. He looked into the distance. On the vast plain that stretched as far as the eye could see, a red morning sun was slowly rising. The quiet and gentle light drove away the surrounding dead silence and coldness.
Outside the city wall, there was a peaceful and tranquil morning sun, but inside the city wall was a hellish sea of corpses and blood. A city wall was like a natural barrier separating the world from hell. Menachel sat on the city wall, breathing the slightly smelly air blowing from behind, enjoying the long-lost sunshine. It was obviously just an ordinary thing, but this unusually comfortable feeling made Menachel close his eyes.
It seemed that falling asleep like this would be nice.
“That won’t do.”
Just as Menachel’s consciousness was about to completely dissipate, a hazy and vague voice came to his ears, unable to distinguish between men and women, and old and young.
Menachel reluctantly opened his eyes, and saw a white figure like an angel.
“Teacher Merlin.”
Although he didn’t really see clearly, Menachel was very sure that the person in front of him was Merlin whom he hadn’t seen for a long time. He just hoped that the person in front of him was Merlin. Only in this way could the city behind him, which he had defended with his life, be truly returned to Artoria.
“It looks like he needs emergency treatment.”
An increasingly vague voice came to his ears. What happened afterwards was no longer recollectable. Menachel had already leaned forward with confidence.
…
When Menachel opened his eyes again, his first thought was to be surprised that he could still open his eyes. He reached out and pulled at the unknown fur covering his body. After confirming that he was not missing any limbs, he remembered that he should now pay attention to his current situation.
Was the last person to arrive Merlin? Was the outer city handed over to Artoria? And what was the situation on the front line?
Menachel turned his head and opened his mouth but could not make a sound. A sleeping girl was lying on her stomach beside him. Her dazzling golden hair was slightly deformed by the pressure, but the stubborn and upright tuft of hair remained unchanged, rising and falling regularly with the girl’s breathing.
It seemed that those questions no longer needed to be asked.
Menachel thought so and could not help but curl his lips, but he immediately realized that his behavior was inappropriate at this time. He stretched out a hand to try to smooth the arc of his mouth, but the hand obviously had its own ideas. It seemed that some magic was cast on it and it went against Menachel’s will and grabbed the trembling hair.
However, the girl, who was still sleeping, suddenly opened her eyes as if she felt some danger, and her clear emerald green pupils looked at Menachel.
The suddenly awkward atmosphere put Menechel’s hand in a dilemma, but he still shamelessly spread out his palm and waved at the girl: “Artoria, you’re awake.”
Artoria just stared at Menechel without saying anything. Menechel’s smile gradually froze, and his hand slowly dropped. At this moment, the girl reached out and grabbed Menechel’s hand, lifting it up again. Artoria smiled and said, “Yeah, I just woke up.”
Since the girl became King Arthur, Menechel rarely saw her smile.
“You haven’t been here all the time, have you?”
For some reason, Menechel couldn’t look Artoria in the eye. He turned his head slightly and used his other hand to knead the fur covering his body.
“How could that be? I just got here.” The girl said in a very calm tone: “But Menechel, your act of risking your life to defend the city has indeed won Camelot a chance of victory. The rebels have been completely driven out of Camelot.”
This official attitude made Menechel feel a little annoyed, but before Menechel could figure out why he felt this way, an inappropriate voice interrupted:
“Young boys and girls, the time for romance is over… Now, it’s time for the adults to treat the children.”
The tone was so frivolous that it made people want to punch him. You didn’t need to look to know it was Merlin. Merlin walked slowly from the door and winked at Artoria: “My king, leave this to me, you go and rest first—”
“Teacher Merlin!” Artoria’s voice suddenly rose by one decibel, but her good royal etiquette made the girl calm down quickly. She stood up, and there was no trace of strangeness on her face: “Then I will go out first.”
Before leaving, Artoria seemed to have thought of something and turned to look at Menachel: “Menachel, you don’t have to work so hard next time.”
Menachel blinked, and he watched Artoria walk out of the door, and at this time Merlin sat down on the seat that Artoria had just sat without mercy, and his body just blocked Menachel’s sight.
“She won’t rest.” Merlin said: “Artoria is a qualified king. She has wasted two days with you. Now she will definitely solve all the things that have been missed in these two days.”
Menachel was stunned, and then he didn’t know whether it was joy or some other emotion filled his heart, making him hum a few times.
Is this what you said about just arriving?
Seeing this, Merlin patted Menachel’s shoulder without any hesitation: “Don’t think too much, tell me, what’s wrong with your body. No matter from which aspect, your body is not like a human body, it is closer to a dragon species.”
“You are talking about this.” Menachel was in a good mood now, and he answered very straightforwardly: “Teacher Merlin, didn’t you say that eating those phantasmal species can improve my physique?”
Merlin’s eyebrows jumped, and he suddenly didn’t want to continue listening.
“So I killed a pure dragon species in the utopia, ate dragon meat and dragon blood… As for the recovery ability, it seems to be inherent in the body.”
“Was it a black dragon?”
Merlin held on to the last bit of luck, hoping to get a negative answer.
Menachel thought for a moment and broke Merlin’s luck.
“Black dragon.”
