Chapter 26: Frame Up
🕑 Added 2025-04-16 09:18:51 +0000 UTCAt this time, the sky was just beginning to brighten, but the outer city had already become bustling. This morning, a great event suddenly happened in this small city – Knight Commander Tylu was unfortunately killed last night, which put a full question mark on his sinful life.
“You mean to say that four enemies sneaked into the city last night, and then killed five guarding knights right under your nose, and also killed Knight Commander Tylu and his guards.”
The knight In front of Menachel had a strange look on his face. He was Tylu’s deputy. Because of Tylu, he knew a lot of things, so he also knew the strength of the knight in front of him very well. The knight Menachel in front of him was a terrifying monster who could kill the King of the Hundred Knights alone and wipe out most of the knights.
If someone could accomplish such a feat before the other party could react, the deputy believed that they were no longer an assassin, but a great being like an angel.
“Yes, you can compare the wounds on Knight Commander Tylu’s body. They were clearly cut by the knight’s sword left at the scene.”
No matter how Minechel explained, the deputy gave a polite smile to the flawed excuses he made up.
As a knight, he should avenge Tylu to repay Tylu’s kindness and fulfill the virtues of knighthood with his life. Fortunately, his deputy was not an orthodox knight, so he did not have to suffer this bad luck.
“I already understand what happened.” The deputy had a serious look on his face, but he avoided the main point and said, “But Sir Menachel, you should know that you have betrayed the trust of the king and Knight Commander Tylu.”
He was blaming someone else, but the deputy had said everything he needed to say, and now he would not feel condemned by his conscience. He didn’t dare to offend Menachel. After all, Knight Commander Tylu was “assassinated” after only annoying the other party for two days, and his deputy couldn’t help but worry about his own safety.
He knew that If he handed over the power of commanding the knights to the other party at this time, his situation would be adequately guaranteed, but this deputy still gritted his teeth and insisted on taking power under tremendous pressure. It was not out of any sense of professionalism or responsibility, but simply because he did not dare.
If he really did that, the nobles behind him would definitely make him disappear completely.
“All I can do is to avenge Knight Commander Tylu.”
Menachel sighed and looked up at the only corpse among the three that still retained a human form. According to him, Knight Commander Tylu was killed by this corpse.
The deputy nodded continuously, but then he seemed to suddenly think of something, and his neck twisted stiffly as if it was broken: “How many invaders did you say there were?”
“Four – unfortunately it was too dark, so I only fought three people.” Menachel’s tone was very low, but his eyes as transparent as rubies did not conceal his recklessness.
Threat, this is a clear threat. Kill three and keep one, this is obviously to leave an excuse that the other one was the one who assassinated the Knight Commander. Everyone knows that you, Menachel, are the real assassin, but who dares to say it out loud?
At this moment, the deputy really wanted to denounce Menachel’s incompetence like a real boss, and even directly determine that he was suspected of treason.
But the deputy could only imitate Menachel and show a rather regretful expression. Although Menachel’s position was one level lower than his, the other party was nominally King Arthur’s special envoy. To say that King Arthur’s special envoy had committed treason was equivalent to saying that King Arthur had committed treason, wasn’t it?
The deputy clearly saw King Arthur’s different attitude towards Menachel at the morning meeting that day. If things really got out of hand, King Arthur could just sentence the deputy to death with a casual remark like “Do you suspect me of being a traitor?”
A feeling of frustration and powerlessness surged into the deputy’s heart. He hadn’t felt this way for a long time since he became the deputy captain. He watched Menachel go away to rest, and he stood there, gritting his teeth in anger.
“Lord Ambi, Lord Tylu was clearly killed by him.” A young knight behind the deputy was so angry that his eyes turned red. He whispered a reminder to the deputy in front of him who seemed to have not noticed the clues.
“Why didn’t you say it just now?” Ambi glanced at the young knight who was speaking. It was a strange face, probably a newcomer that Tylu had just recruited. Thinking of this, a hint of mockery flashed in Ambi’s eyes.
As if venting his anger, Ambi took another step forward, his voice a little louder than before: “Why didn’t you say it just now!”
“Because you don’t dare.” Ambi stretched out his finger and tapped the left chest of the speaking knight again and again, as if stimulating the young knight’s heart again and again through his chest: “You don’t really want to resist, you don’t want to fight. You just want to use me to realize what you think is right.”
He spoke word by word, insulting in public, and the young knight’s heart flushed red. He was at an age full of blood, and the young knight forgot all the knight’s commandments at that time, but he retorted: “I didn’t!”
Immediately, an older man among Ambi’s personal soldiers was ready to stop him, but was dispersed by Ambi’s wave of his hand. Only he and the young knight in front of him were left at the scene.
The young knight seemed a little unconvinced. Ambi narrowed his eyes and took it all in. He looked surprised: “What? You don’t think so?”
“I will avenge Lord Tylu.”
Revenge? How can you take revenge? Even if all 300 cavalrymen stationed in the city come together, they probably won’t be a match for that monster. It will be a miracle for you to come back alive.
But Ambi pretended to be very optimistic and patted the young knight on the shoulder: “It seems that I misunderstood you, good boy.”
Then, seeing that there was no one around, Ambi quietly bent down, hooked the young knight’s shoulder, and whispered the location of Menachel’s tent.
Under the other party’s incredible gaze, Ambi smiled mysteriously and patted the young knight on the shoulder: “It’s best to act tonight. Before that, can you tell me your name, young knight?”
Ambi listened carefully for a while and sent the young knight away. He then called in several personal soldiers, one team to guard the city gate to prevent the enemy from sneaking in, and the other team to protect Ambi’s life.
After finishing the explanation, Ambi said: “By the way, remove the name of the knight just now from the Knights Templar.”
The fourth intruder who has not been found yet is like a sword hanging over Ambi’s head, which may fall and take his life at any time.
At this point, it doesn’t matter who the fourth intruder is. Now, anyone can be the fourth intruder, just like the young knight who just left.
