Chapter 25: Assasins
🕑 Added 2025-04-14 14:31:54 +0000 UTCPerhaps King Arthur’s power is not as bad as Menachel imagined. At least Menachel successfully infiltrated Sir Tylu’s camp, and Tylu even had to give him an important position with a sour face – the Knight Director of Border Town Patrol.
This position that sounds high is in fact just a patrol captain who manages five foot knights.
I don’t know if it is out of consideration that “it is difficult to conceal the evidence of crimes committed in the city”, but Artoria organized the knights of Sir Tylu into an advance force, mainly with harassment attacks, to prepare for Lanmarok to cut off the enemy’s food supply.
So with great reluctance, Tylu led his 300 knights and Menachel to defend the outer city of the rear city.
But this guy is indeed a war avoider. After being stationed in the outer city for several days, Menachel has caught several knights who have private trysts with local civilians during patrols. Tylu still intends to keep his troops in place, and Menachel has never met Knight Commander Tylu again except for the initial appointment.
Apart from several small-scale harassments by the enemy, this team of 302 people has become a temporary citizen of the outer city.
And tonight it is Menachel’s turn to lead the patrol. Although the calmness of several days has polished the fighting spirit of his five knights, Menachel still insists on patrolling fully armed.
When passing by the low city wall, Menachel can clearly hear the sound of gravel falling to the ground. Through the light of the torch held by a knight next to him, Menachel can clearly observe the situation of the city wall.
There are several obvious scratches on the aging city wall due to disrepair, and the gravel just now came from those recently added scratches.
Someone has climbed over the wall in the past few days.
Menachel could only make a rough judgment. At least these traces were not left when he inspected last time.
It couldn’t be left alone today. Menachel suddenly had this thought. He suddenly became alert. The dragon armor on his body gave Menachel an unparalleled sense of security.
In order to give a sense of security to the knights who were yawning at this time, Menachel did not immediately hold the hilt of the sword. He had some good ideas at this time. He patrolled forward for a few miles. When the sky was already a little bright, the younger brother who had taken turns to hold the torch for a night could not wait to extinguish the torch and threw it on the ground casually.
The footsteps and the sound of the wooden stick falling to the ground came almost at the same time, but Menachel could clearly distinguish the direction of the footsteps. The wooden stick was thrown to the side, and the deliberately suppressed footsteps came from behind.
“Then the patrol mission tonight is over, and everyone can have a good rest.”
Menachel did not hide his laziness. He pretended nothing happened and suppressed the approaching footsteps with a calm tone.
I hope the newcomers will not think of attacking him first.
Thinking of this, Menachel adjusted his position step by step, trying to face the direction of the sound.
The dim light caused by the extinguishing of the torch provided a good umbrella for the attackers. In the almost integrated darkness, Menachel clearly caught a flash of cold light. He turned sideways to avoid the blood splashing like a fountain, followed by the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground one after another. Unlike Menachel who was well prepared, the other four knights were a little overwhelmed by the sudden assassination.
So there were a few more puffs, and the knights who did not have time to make a sound followed the former.
The number of lurkers was slightly more than expected.
Menachel calmly grasped the hilt of the greatsword behind him. He estimated that there would be no more than ten people coming. With Menachel’s experience of staying in the rebel army for a few days, he knew that there were no noteworthy opponents in a one on one fight, and even ten of them would not pose any threat.
After quickly dealing with the five knights, the lurkers did not attack again, but there was no sound of them leaving.
Menachel, who had no sense of tension, even missed Tylu who was about to enter heaven. At this time, Sir Tylu should not have woken up yet.
“If you wait any longer, it will be dawn.”
Menachel said with a hint of urging in his tone. If it was any later, Tylu would have to get up. Although the straw bag who had surrendered to the nobles had no fighting power, it would be very troublesome if he was called by him.
There was another moment of silence, and then the sound of chaotic footsteps spread from the front of Menachel to the surroundings. Menachel suddenly drew his sword, and the heavy sword made a strong sound of breaking through the air and swung it towards a certain place in front of him. The sound of metal clashing sounded, and then there was a quick and short cry of grief, which was immediately stopped by the sword.
He tried to use the sound of footsteps to hide the sound of breaking through the air when swinging the sword, but the killing intent was too strong. Menachel raised the corner of his mouth slightly, but this time he didn’t have time to avoid the spurting blood, and his armor was soaked.
He clicked his tongue In dissatisfaction, and Menachel moved sideways to avoid the blade attacking from behind. At the moment of crossing, he reached out and grasped the hilt of the sword. The guard made of dragon armor easily resisted the sword tip, and Menachel crushed the blade with a little force. He held the fragments of the blade in his hand and threw them to the side, forcing the enemy charging from the left to stop the attack.
“Be quiet. It’s not good if you wake others up.”
Menachel said slowly. He enjoyed the hunting-like battle at the moment. Only such a battle could show his strength. This made him fully aware of his morbidity, but the corners of his mouth still couldn’t help but rise.
The calmness from the depths of his soul made all the enemies facing him feel the gap in strength.
The sun had appeared in the distance at this time, and several blurry figures gradually became visible. There were three people left except for the one lying on the ground with his head and body separated.
After learning that the situation was difficult, the few people immediately scattered and fled. Seeing this situation, Menachel narrowed his eyes and flew forward. He swung the sword in his hand and beheaded another person.
With the sword in his hand, Menachel slapped the headless corpse heavily. The corpse did not explode into flesh and blood directly despite the deliberate effort, but was like a cannonball and hit the second person who was about to climb over the wall.
The sudden heavy blow from the back made him lose his balance and fell off the wall. Menachel took the opportunity to pierce his body with a sword. He bent down to pick up the weapons that the two men had left behind. They were uniform knight swords with no special features.
But after wasting only a moment, the third lurker had already disappeared. But Menachel was too lazy to pay attention to this insignificant third person. He pulled up the body of the man with pierced chest and abdomen, carried it on his shoulders, and trotted in one direction before dawn.
That was the tent of Knight Commander Tylu.
