Chapter 24: Talk With Artoria
🕑 Added 2025-04-14 14:31:27 +0000 UTCIt was only the second night that Menachel’s move had reached the ears of every noble in Camelot. This typical traitor who only cared about the small profits in front of him made the old ministers angry.
Although even if the rebels captured the city of Camelot, it was just family fighting against family, and it would not cause any substantial harm to the nobles. At most, some of the interests in their hands would be divided.
But how could they be willing to share what they got with others? Those who could mix into the ranks of nobles were not stupid. They knew very well that this was due to the previous step-by-step pressure that touched the bottom line of the new king. After holding a meeting, they decided to make some concessions.
So the news of the inexplicable restoration of supplies in Camelot was transmitted back to the rear city at a faster speed, for fear that if the news was delayed, King Arthur would withdraw his troops, which would make his allies sad and his enemies happy.
The restoration of supplies also brought new life to the army that had been waiting for a long time in the rear city. Those knights who had been avoiding fighting for various reasons also solved all their troubles overnight.
In addition to the fact that these armies were still in the hands of the nobles, the strategy of cutting off the firewood from the bottom of the pot was generally successful.
But Artoria knew that this was the limit. If she did not fulfill her obligations as a king, the nobles of Camelot would not mind welcoming a new king of a different surname.
One day, this cancer must be removed.
Artoria looked at the good news in her hand, lowered her eyelids and made up her mind in her heart. There was a regular knock on the door, and the girl immediately sorted out the expression on her face and became solemn again.
“Please come in.”
She said in a tone of great kingly majesty.
“My King, Sir Menachel is here.”
Outside the door was the one-armed knight Bedivere who had just been sent by Artoria to find someone.
“Thank you for your hard work, Sir Bedivere. Please let Sir Menachel come in.”
Bedivere immediately bowed in return, and then the wooden door was gently closed. Taking advantage of this gap, Artoria held her head with one hand to relieve her fatigue, but before the girl closed her eyes for long, the wooden door was pushed open from the outside with a rapid creaking sound.
“Sir Menachel, please pay attention to etiquette.”
Artoria knew who was coming in without even looking up. When the footsteps got closer, Artoria reluctantly opened her eyes.
“I heard that we can counterattack tomorrow.”
As soon as he entered the door, Menachel asked the most concerned question. He also very loyally concealed the identity of the source of the news of a certain Sir Kay.
Artoria, who knew her brother very well, of course knew who Menachel’s news came from, but she didn’t want to pursue this small issue. The girl nodded again and again, and the bunch of hair on her head swayed again and again, which immediately attracted all of Menachel’s attention.
“I will also arrange my knights to various knight orders, although they are unlikely to be high-ranking positions.” As if she did not notice Menachel, Artoria continued to speak, but the girl’s tired profile was a little red under the candlelight.
“Just asking in advance, do I have to go too?” Menachel did not retract his gaze, and at this moment, his mind was full of Merlin’s explanation of [love].
“Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to get rid of the suspicion of false surrender.”
As if feeling helpless, Artoria sighed and buried her face in her folded hands.
Then Menachel’s voice was not heard for a long time.
It was not until this time that Artoria finally noticed Menachel’s disrespectful gaze and glared at Menachel, with a hint of toughness in her tone: “Do you have anything to say?”
This overly girlish tone formed a sharp contrast with the meticulous king image when facing Bedivere just now, which made Menachel couldn’t help but raise the corners of his mouth, but he soon realized his mistake.
He obviously came here to fulfill the girl’s wish, but now he indulges in teasing the girl herself, which is really wrong.
“No.” Perhaps the temperature of the candlelight was too hot, so Menachel had to take off his head armor and tuck it between his arms. He showed a confident smile: “I just want the king to put me under the command of the Knight Charlu.”
“You mean Sir Tylu.” Artoria was a little dissatisfied: “Occasionally, you should also remember the names of your colleagues.”
“Don’t worry, it won’t be the case soon.”
It’s true that Menachel was acting for Tylu in the parliament not long ago, but he really wanted to kill Tylu. Anyway, Sir Tylu has fulfilled his historical responsibility, and now it’s time for him to withdraw from the stage of history.
Menachel is very skilled in killing the donkey after it has done its job.
In fact, not only the Knight Tylu, but also the knights on the left are not going to stay. He will take back the military power for Artoria.
“Don’t go too far, or it will be hard for me to end it.”
Artoria obviously heard the hidden meaning of Menachel’s words, and she couldn’t help but warn worriedly: “After all, those nobles have become a little dissatisfied with me.”
“Don’t worry, sooner or later they will not be dissatisfied with you.”
Menachel said, curling the corners of his mouth and revealing a crazy smile. Artoria watched this scene silently and couldn’t help but reveal a long-lost smile that only existed in Menachel’s memory.
Quiet and beautiful.
I don’t want to share it with others at all, I just want to watch it over and over again by myself. At this time, what Menachel felt was probably such a twisted and unspeakable mood.
——“But this is far beyond the level of repaying a favor. Boy, you are in love.”
The low and magnetic voice of Teacher Merlin seemed to echo in his ears again. After confirming again and again that this was not a prank created by Teacher Merlin with magic, Menachel was relieved to immerse himself in the memories that were blowing in his face.
Some of the images are very blurry, but the only thing that remains is the charming and happy smile on the face of a girl as she lowered her head and expressed her wish that [she hopes there will be no disaster victims in the world].
To this day, Menachel can no longer remember whether he was attracted by the beautiful world built by the girl, or by the happy look on the girl’s face when she was yearning for a beautiful world.
And this is probably what love is.
He thought, and a gentle smile different from the past appeared on his face, but this strange scene also made Artoria stiff.
“It’s getting late.”
Artoria coughed lightly, her eyes a little erratic.
“Then, see you tomorrow, Artoria.”
As the savior of Camelot, Artoria is destined not to be allowed to have a young love affair like a normal girl.
