[T/N: Change Kai to Kay]
After bathing in dragon blood, the body has physical qualities far beyond those of ordinary people. Although it is a pity that it has not been able to obtain abilities such as invulnerable dragon skin, the inhuman strength and physical strength alone are enough to benefit from it.
After all, for Menachel now, his main enemy is still humans.
When the first ray of morning light shone through the layers of treetops and illuminated the dark forest, Menachel noticed that there were already piles of corpses in front and behind him.
A rough estimate showed that at least half of the approximately two hundred corpses were knights wearing Lothian standard armor – this was also unavoidable, after all, at the beginning of the group battle, Menachel decisively abandoned his own men and fought a single duel with the King of the Hundred Knights.
And apart from these friendly forces, that is to say, Menachel had killed a hundred of the Lothian Three Hundred Warriors.
After all, the enemy was not a wooden stake. After discovering the risk of being wiped out by Menachel, they decisively fled in all directions. Some of them even abandoned their snorting warhorses and fled on foot. Menachel, who had no intention of chasing them, only killed some of the slow-running and stubborn knights.
The soft land In the forest was rendered with an inconspicuous black and red color, and the branches and treetops were left with traces of the bloody battle last night.
What is intriguing is that apart from the two groups of pursuers last night – if you count myself, there are three groups of pursuers, there has been no fourth wave of enemy soldiers in such a long time.
Menachel subconsciously glanced at the slightly dirty armor on his body, and his brows could not help but frown. If he had known earlier, he would not have made it so fancy red and white. It is very troublesome to clean it now.
A traitor like him can no longer return to the camp, so he can only try his luck in Camelot. But as soon as this idea came to mind, Menachel couldn’t help but hesitate in his heart – Chamo had told him that knights are a profession that attaches great importance to reputation. Strictly speaking, Menachel is now a defected knight. Even if Artoria doesn’t mind, will the others in Camelot take him in?
Moreover,
Menachel recalled the scene when he met Artoria last night. The other party didn’t seem to show any surprise.
There were dense and orderly footsteps around him. There shouldn’t be many people coming. There were no knights on the ground.
Is it the second wave of encirclement and suppression sent by the rebels?
Menachel narrowed his eyes, and one hand had already touched the hilt of the sword behind him.
“Don’t be nervous, Menachel, you are one of us.” This was a slightly teasing male voice. Almost as soon as this voice sounded, Menachel was involuntarily pulled into the vortex of memories.
“It’s you, Kay.” Menachel loosened his grip on the sword and looked in the direction where the voice came from. He saw a knight in pure white armor walking slowly towards him, surrounded by several guards. The face still retained some features that looked annoying, and Menachel almost remembered the man’s name instantly.
“I thought you would go to Camelot without looking back.” Kay walked over and gave a gentle hug to his friend whom he hadn’t seen for many years, then pushed Menachel away with disgust: “You are a man, why are you so hesitant.”
“After all, I have been living in fear in the utopia, where I have no choice but to go all the way to the end.” Menachel took off his head armor, lowered his head to glance at the evil-looking helmet that looked even more hideous because of the blood stains, and tucked this boring thing under his armpit: “Unlike me, you seem to be living a very comfortable life.”
“Hey, hey, you don’t mean to say that I have been corrupted by material desires and turned into a waste.” Kay poked Menachel’s shoulder with a smile: “I’ll beat you up.”
“Okay, you.” Kay’s natural enthusiasm quickly dispelled a trace of concern, and Menachel also smiled lightly: “But you seem to have forgotten that since your sword was picked up by me that time, there has been a deep gap between you and me.”
“Nonsense, I have never lost since I was a child.” Kay wanted to continue chatting, but one of his followers immediately coughed lightly, and Kay had no choice but to give up: “Let’s talk about business, King Arthur is worried that something will happen to you, so he asked us to come down to help.”
Menachel nodded, but his eyes had already drifted to the knight who had just coughed lightly. It can only be said that he had a well-proportioned ordinary figure and was not conspicuous. What really impressed Menachel was that the other party was wearing a head armor like himself.
This is a very rare phenomenon among the knights of Camelot, and it also made Menachel react to his name.
It seems to be called Lanmarok.
Menachel’s silence made Kay misinterpret it into another meaning.
“In fact, the king is in a rather awkward situation now.” Kay said, clenching his fists in displeasure, his knuckles making crackling sounds: “Her, well, the only people he can mobilize are me, Lord Lanmarok, and a few like-minded companions he met during his travels.”
“Well.”
Although he didn’t know why Kay suddenly wanted to say this to him, it didn’t prevent Menachel from nodding his head in agreement.
After all, there were several years between the death of the previous king, King Uther, and the succession of the new king, King Arthur. It was not difficult to accept that the kingship was hollowed out, especially under the poison of the new system. Not to mention a few years, a year’s gap would cause a kingdom to change dramatically.
“Then take me to see him. I think I have made a lot of progress in these years.”
But he didn’t expect that his casual behavior would cause someone’s displeasure. Lanmarok took a few steps forward, as if he wanted to say something but forced himself not to say it, and retreated back to the team with his fists clenched.
“There is no time to lose, let’s set off as soon as possible.”
Kay came out to smooth things over when he saw that the situation was not right. He stood between Menachel and Lanmarok, half pushing Menachel into the back city.
…
The news of Menachel's defection swept through every corner of the city of Carleon like a storm in less than a day. The knight who was favored for his bravery not long ago made the decision to rebel.
This unusual news immediately reflected a deeper meaning in this fallen city, because when Menachel led King Gwyn’s men to attack the city, King Gwyn said he was unwell and returned to Lothian with several guard knights, leaving only the Knight Commander Chamo to sit in the rear.
And this strange behavior immediately became intriguing with the spread of the news of Menachel’s rebellion. This also made Chamo feel a lot of pressure, especially after the news that the King of the Hundred Knights was killed by Menachel came.
