Chapter 17: King Arthur's Coronation
🕑 Added 2025-04-13 04:00:09 +0000 UTCThe mission is understood to be a simple escort mission.
King Gwyn was going to the neighboring country Camelot to attend King Arthur’s coronation ceremony, but he was afraid that the new king of Camelot, King Arthur, would covet King Gwyn’s kingdom, so he resorted to this bad strategy.
But almost all the knights in the country were sent out as guards. Other parties coveting the country can do so while they are away!
Especially after King Gwyn met with the kings of the other seven kingdoms, Menachel became more and more certain of his guess.
But what does that have to do with Menachel? He now has to temporarily rely on others to find Artoria and Merlin who have been out of contact for a long time. Since King Gwyn now wants to destroy Camelot, then Menachel, who loves his job, will of course do his best to make this happen.
Although he had some doubts about the strength of the 500 knights around him who were carrying out the “protection” mission with him. Some of them, such as Chamo, were obviously very mediocre in strength, but they became knights with horses just by virtue of their connections, while truly capable knights like Menachel could only walk.
It's not that he envy riding horses or anything, but he just criticize this wrong system a little.
But in any case, a total of 4,200 knights were arranged outside the city of Caerleon by Camelot.
Fortunately, King Arthur was not naïve enough to let these thousands of knights enter the city directly, otherwise it would probably take less than a day for the new king of Camelot to become the king who destroyed Camelot.
The coronation ceremony was held as scheduled, and several kings who came from afar finally got the right to enter, but the mighty army of knights behind them obviously could not enter together. In order to take care of the face of the kings, King Arthur specially allowed the kings to bring a few attendants in.
To Menachel’s surprise, King Gwyn actually chose him as a guard, but Knight Chamo did not go with him.
“Sir Menachel, my life is in your hands.”
Although there were three people accompanying him, King Gwyn only spoke to Menachel. After speaking, King Gwyn glanced at the rapier on Menachel’s waist and couldn’t help but smile – that was the sword he gave to Menachel.
Several Camelot knights escorted this huge “congratulatory group” into the venue. At this time, a king with a fair face came over and took the initiative to talk to King Gwyn: “King Gwyn, if you bring all the capable people in, the knights outside will probably lack restraint.”
He was Implicitly reminding King Gwyn to leave the leader of the Knights outside the city to wait for his fate.
After all, Menachel, who was dressed in red and white heavy armor, was particularly eye-catching among the knights in uniform blue-gray uniforms, just like a leader should be. Even Chamo, who was wearing silver-white armor, would be considered his deputy.
King Gwyn obviously understood what the other party meant, but he laughed and waved his hands: “It’s okay, it’s okay, King of the Hundred Knights, there will be someone to restrain the knights outside.”
While talking and laughing, the scenery in front of them suddenly became clear. Standing in front of everyone was a huge stone with obvious sword marks on the top. The chill emanating from it showed its unusualness.
In front of this huge stone was a temporary hall. The hall was empty but there were no seats. Only a blue battle flag was planted every few meters. The simple yellow lines on the flag formed the figure of a roaring lion.
Standing in the center of the high platform was a pale blue girl who was slightly short but still had the demeanor of a king, and a magician in white who looked more like a priest than a priest?
The moment he saw the two, Menachel’s expression hidden under the armor froze, and his body was so stiff that he could hardly move.
And it was at this time that the white magician Merlin quietly turned away his solemn gaze, and after seeing Menachel in heavy red armor, he hooked his lips at him.
“Merlin, what’s wrong?”
Merlin’s little movements were clearly seen by Artoria beside him.
“Nothing, you’ll know in a moment.” Merlin used magic to transmit a message to Artoria. He knew that the girl attached great importance to the coronation ceremony, so he rarely showed the demeanor of a teacher and a minister entrusted with the care of an orphan.
When everyone entered the venue, the girl ordered her messenger knights to block the city gates.
Only then did Menachel recover from the eye contact with Merlin. He just noticed that there was a small pure gold crown on Artoria’s golden hair.
This means that, in a physical sense, the [King Arthur’s Coronation Ceremony] has been completed, and this grand ceremony is just King Arthur’s announcement to other kings, or a settlement.
Let these kingdoms that originally belonged to Camelot be taken back under his command.
But it was too hasty.
Menachel ignored Artoria’s bland speech. He stole a glance at the solemn knights who were responsible for maintaining order on the scene. Although they were better than the knights of the Eight Kings, they still could not escape the ranks of “weak”.
The only one who might be a threat on the scene was…
Menachel’s eyes quickly swept Artoria and several knights around her, and finally fell on Merlin.
Perhaps Teacher Merlin can be crossed out. This habitual offender will probably only take action when helping Artoria escape.
Sure enough, when Artoria said, “I hope all the kings will work together to build a beautiful Britain,” a sneer suddenly came.
The voice was not loud, but it was not deliberately suppressed, but it seemed particularly harsh at this moment.
The one who spoke was the fair-skinned man called the King of the Hundred Knights by King Gwyn. At this time, he had his arms around his chest, revealing a rebellious look.
“I feel upset when I think that the mountains and rivers of Britain will be occupied by a young boy like you.”
The King of the Hundred Knights attracted the attention of the whole audience as soon as he opened his mouth. He shook off the knights guarding beside him and took a few steps forward, almost approaching the front of the hall, and said word by word: “So it’s better for you, a little kid, to be more sensible.”
Artoria still had a cold face, but the air pressure around her was obviously reduced a lot, and Menachel’s eyes looking at this “King of the Hundred Knights” also became cold, and his right hand slowly touched the sword at his waist.
But someone moved faster than him. The knight who was closer to the King of the Hundred Knights, immediately raised his axe and spear to stab the King of the Hundred Knights
But the King of the Hundred Knights was prepared. He jumped and drew his sword in the air and cut off the head of the knight.
The silver armor was easily pierced by the sword and had no effect.
The King of the Hundred Knights sneered and shook off the blood stains on his sword, and looked at King Arthur on the high platform again with provocation.
“Don’t be rude!”
At this time, the knights around King Arthur couldn’t help it. Just as they were about to take action, there was a sudden noise outside the city gate.
“So you were prepared.”
Artoria’s tone was low, but based on Menachel’s understanding of Artoria, he knew that the girl wanted to pin people to the ground and beat them up.
“Capture them!”
The thousands of knights outside could not be defeated by Artoria’s current military strength, so all she could do was to take hostages.
